Nice to have you on board Ruthar and welcome

Hey Louis are you going for Lancer? I have pants pockets, well hidden on the side, deep enough for my phone. The side pocket on your arm for the pen, should be easy to unpick. The yellow thingy is called an unpicker pretty does what its called. Also a small tip, I tend to have all the soft parts done before fitting the hard armour.

Patches on pants? Making a 2 piece under suit.
M.J replied to Lawless Scout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Jason looking good, opening the inseam or unpicking as we call it, thats a bit of work well done. I did the lazy way and just sewed it around. The riding patches I hate doing, I've done quite a few for troopers around here. -
Hello Johan...I have a small noggin and I think I'm one of the shortest here. I have a Studio creations .....oh btw I'm just under 5 foot...thats me of course in my signature

OMG I forget about the boots and Knees I'm a tad older and have a hard time bending at the best of times so here is my line up Suit (Pants and top) Neck seal (if you have one) Balaclava so you can tuck in before strapping up collar. Vest. Cummberbun.. ( check pouches before velcro up, oh dear lord how many of us forgot and we have chest piece on as well) and the velcro up the back, make sure your mud flap is ok. KNEES! (I have made mine able to put on if I have my boots on already though its soo much easier when they are on first) ( I need a dollar for each time I forgot) BOOTS: I Need a chair to sit, tuck in pants into your socks and pop on those boots, never pull the vinyl completely away as in time the glue will come apart, check velcro is even at the back. Chest/back/ shoulders..( check top and bells are strapped in) sitting nicely on bun. Belt: I connect at the front and twist it around back all of mine is connected Arms: Check everything while pulling on, nothing upside down. (cheeky smile) Make sure helmet is out of bag and everything is placed away safely. Helmet....Yep I said helmet, Gloves last: I pop the front up on my helmet then pop the gloves on. Cheers.

Hello Aaron, Great build thread. Just a quick question, did you glue the whole "dog bone" to the boot? I've always only glued the sides, going by this photo.
-
Hi ya Mickey just a quickie. The scout boots, forgot the wording, the bone shape part between the bottom and the leg of the boot, it should be only glued at the edges where the sewn curve is ? yeah. I'm seeing a few makes were they are gluing the whole thing just double checking. So I can let them know.

ah got ya, there are a number of ways to attach the pouches. (jumping ahead of myself here) Will give you some options and see which you like. So no padding between the fabric? This photo shows you will need some sort of padding to give the effect of the panels Do the Redbacks have build days? you can check other scouts armour to give you an idea, check on their forums if there is one close to you, Or even a troop where Scouts are attending, seeing it person will help you. So when you start we guide you to the correct way of doing it, there are so many builders here you can't go wrong...(famous last words)

Hi ya Adam, or I should say G'day! Your local Garrison are the Redbacks? I do know there are a number of biker scouts as I did troop up there many moons ago. Couple of questions how are your sewing skills? I can't see but his the bund padded? or its just the fabric. Did you get how much White Velcro? The pouches do they have clips or velcro on the back. And are you on the redback forums. I do make these for the local lads here in Melbourne. Oh and not to worry there are number of us here that have made quite a few of these darn things in our time.

Mine is attached to the back of my cummberbun, under it. Though I do love the velcro on the cod piece idea for belt Chopper so it wont slip down... mine tends to twist around

Possible Recaster Alert (copying MC Scout kit)
M.J replied to MonCal's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I agree it does look like your kit, they have one difference and that is the belt, they have made the design boxes smaller in width maybe to say it is different? Otherwise the rest looks like its been recasted, as they don't look as sharp. -
So glad you're getting Chris to give you a hand...shock horror I'm in your photo! Its a village helping you my young Daniel.

Congratulations ! -
This may also help, He is going to hit me (name has escaped me)but one of our staff here scored some incredible photos of a Prop Scout.. It should give you an idea on how much fabric is around the back.

Hi Denise, there is a sew line around the leg patch, I think they are referring to is when using the synthetic suede you need to double sew it (no fraying) so if you iron or fold it under only having to sew once. The butt flap can also have no sew lines when its synthetic leather, sewing the shape then turning it inside out, sew it together at the top of the pants.

Congrats Barber

HI ya Falk, you're doing a great job. Your front may need to come down, the neck is too high, looks like its going to choke you. Here are some photos And one on the back

You're doing a good job, also think the riding patch at the back is smaller compared to the front. It is handy to have your kit while making the soft parts, a lot can be gaged by the Armour. I hope this helps its a little dark

What he said 😎

Ahh the thickness..I found when I used a 2 inch velcro across the top of cummberbun, you could see it as I moved around annoyed the bugger out of me so I had to change the width, its the connection at the front. Just a note I attach my pockets at the top as well and for some odd reason that was ok.
-
Zugor, I have found using a thick velcro to attach can show through, not as flexible. My cod piece too is seperate though attached on the top of my cummberbun. Looking forward to your photos
