  1. Excellent! You would be the second Kashyyyk in Carida. Stop by the "Swamp" anytime with any questions.
  2. Ha! ...twerking...that's great! Made me laugh! I was just going to say something about the cummerbund, especially in the back. The tank should sit right on top of the large horizontal back pouches. Over the top part of the cummerbund, in the back. Was the cummerbund too large? If it was, I can send you another piece of Velcro, no charge. If you sew that in, it will give you two places where the Velcro will hold and keep the cummerbund more snug on you. Just add the new pieces opposite of where it will sit, when it is snug on you Just let me know, and I'll send it to you. The chest and tank area look great! It sits level. Well done. I see you had to cut some of the strap area off of the back plate for it to fit. As you wear it to troops, you will find the weight of the back tank pulling at you. So, you'll always feel the need to pull the chest are down in the front to bring is back up. (It happens.) And check the top shin strap on the left leg. It's sagging. Overall, with the exception of the "twerking malfunction" and a couple of places that just need a tighter fit, the colors look great, the overall fit of the armor looks great. Well done! Well done, indeed!
  3. Coloring looks great! I know you said you have some more work to do. That's good. You are coming along nicely. Okay...some suggestions to work with... Definitely try to close the gap between your back and the back tank. The weathering and colors on the chest and helmet look awesome! Now... Add some more coloring to the sides of the pouches, and then weather them. Add some weathering to the cummerbund. (Maybe give it some "rusty colored" drips here and there.) Weather the shins and other smaller armor pieces. Use spray paint and give a mist spray on those items. Maybe brown and a small bit of black. To make it look like dirt spray or carbon scoring spray. If you haven't made them permanent yet, raise the drop pouches up a bit. To where they aren't hanging at the same level as the thigh pouches. Somewhere at a good level where it's in between the belt and the thigh pouches. (Maybe hanging over the top of the thigh pouches...a bit.) And don't forget to add the two black discs at the back part of the visor, on both sides of the helmet. Plus, the Kashyyyk "fishhook" symbol, at the bottom front of the left side visor. And the stripes under the lens area, on the front of the helmet. (See below picture as a reference.) Overall, you have a great build going. Keep it up! Cheers...future Kashyyyk Trooper!!
  4. Mike! It's great to see posts from you again! Always happy to hear from "The Maker." (Yeah, I said it...and that's that!) Between your version and Tom's version, I have worked on five different sets of Kashyyyk armor. (For my family & one of our local Troopers.) I did get an original set from Acrylikhan awhile back. Whew! It's heavy. But, I'm still working with it. Can't do much during the winter. Welcome back! *Going to send you a PM.*
  5. Brilliant! Could the main 501st page also reflect the name? http://www.501st.com/ Midway down the page where the Legion costume stats are located, it still says "BARC Trooper." Could that be changed to "Kashyyyk Trooper?" And of course, by clicking on that name, it takes you to the members page with that costume. http://www.501st.com/members/costumeroster.php?catagoryID=19 Could that be possible, Damian?
  6. BikerChick sells the helmets and the armor. http://forum.bikersc...showtopic=10944 Send her a pm.
  7. Very nice!
  8. From what I can see, it looks good. I would like to see some more close up pictures. This is your build thread...keep posting those pictures.
  9. For the past few years, we have been calling ourselves (*unofficially*) "Kashyyyk Troopers." Recommend remove "BARC" and replace with "Kashyyyk." (Simple description.) I see no need to change the "CB" designation. (We are used to those letters.) Unless someone opposes that.
  10. The Rebel Legion seems to have different "view points" than the 501st.
  11. One alternative to the shoulder bell problem is the use of Velcro. You can either use the nylon strapping material to have them connected to the chest and back plates as a "t-strap." That is fine. But, to give them the floating look, sew a strip of velcro on to the shoulder area of the shirt and the other piece of Velcro to the inside of the shoulder bell. Still have the padding underneath to give the "big shoulder" look, that the clones are supposed to have. That way you wouldn't see the black nylon straps at the top of the shoulder bell, and around the arm at the bottom of the shoulder bell. Or, just add the Velcro to your existing set-up. That would give it extra supportiveness and prevent it from moving around. Either way should be fine.
  12. Cheers Marcel & Chex and all of the Pathfinders around the world! "Merry Christmas to all...and to all... a good night!"
  13. The two long pouches on the back appear lighter in different scenes. You can make them a bit lighter and just add a bit of weathering to them. A few GML's have made comments about those two particular pouches. (I've also heard the same about the front drop pouches... ) So, make them like what you see from that scene. Do your best. Mine are all the same for the base coat and camo. But, I added some weathering in the form of a white spray paint can. Misting lightens it up. After you make them, post some pics, and we'll see what you have. And yes, try the industrial Velcro. That seems to work well.
  14. Cool. Now that you are working on a Kashyyyk Trooper, I can take care of your Gree for you.
  15. Both of those pictures are accurate, to me. Very good research. You'll be just fine.
  16. Knee straps should still stay grey. Whether they are light or dark, they are still grey, not black. They can be weathered by misting some black over them, with spray paint. That usually works. I also did the same on the BC belt. I removed some of the "walls" to make them more rectangle. This is what the belt should look like...in my opinion. (This is just a section of a MrB style belt.) I'm still modifying the BC belt. Remember..BC's belt was based off of the original PGHFett design. There is nothing that says it's wrong. It can be used. It, like other items relating to the Kashyyyk, just need to be slightly modified. No worries. Everything will come together.
  17. Whoa there, kids...not all pieces are complete... She's just doing a test fit. Daelma...slow down, man. Don't rush through it.
  18. Looking good!
  19. ...more than that... ...just kidding...
  20. WOW! Big improvement. Yeah, indoor pics can make colors look darker. Make sure that when she submits her final pictures, she takes them outside on a sunny day...if possible. Front, back, both sides, and detail pics.
  21. Hey, when ever that Juggernaut gets built, every Kashyyyk Trooper gets to drive it...and you can run over all of the battle droids you want!! The link for the pouch material... If the material comes like this...then WOW!! It already has a good style and color for the camo patterns. Seems to take the fun out of it...*just kidding* But, I'm sure that you will have to cut it up, if it comes as a coat. Keep the updates coming.
  22. Wow...she's been busy! All of the armor parts look well assembled. Boot soles look great. Do you have any more pictures of the pants and shirt? The color on the shirt looks good. Great dye job! The base color of tan looks good, but the camo color brown just doesn't look right. The brown almost appears as black. Lighten it up a bit and go for a lighter tree bark brown. And for the camo "pattern", possibly make some of the areas a bit larger and even overlap them in different places. Here is an image taken directly from Episode III. It shows how the colors overlap and are blended. Plus it shows where some weathering and scratches can be placed for effect. Pic of Kashyyyk troopers from C VI. These are just examples of how the painting can be done. Check other build thread for more styles. But, it all comes down to your Garrison Membership Liason's decision. (GML) How are your cummerbund and pouches coming along? Check that the shins go down far enough to cover the top of the boot. (Where the laces are.) Also make sure that she has enough room between the shin and the boot topper, so that it doesn't rub when she walks. Comfort is the key in this costume. Don't forget to cut the slots in the shins for the shin straps to go through. But, like I said...WOW!! Very good job so far! Keep it up. Great to see more Kashyyyk Troopers being made in Germany!
  23. Hey Death Recon, ...whoa....uh, what??? Are you trying to say that I'm old?? That I've walked a good distance, like from here to the sun a few thousand times?? Is that what you're saying? (Man, my legs are tired...) ______________________________________________________________________________ But... Gerald...the second piece of material looks close. http://allegro.pl/material-wojskowy-kamuflaz-cordura-kamuflaz-wloski-i3653748356.html But to me, the black spots and the real light spots (almost white) don't look good on it. I know that the alternate suggested material is the multi-cam. And I'm aware that not everybody can get it. The second option is a plain tan, and then add the camo patterns of green and brown. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ **Hey Heatshock...if you happen to read this, check out the camo that Gerald found and see what you think...** ___________________________________________________________________________________________ (I would like to get another's opinion on this material, due to it not being one of the two options on the pouch material.) Definitely do not use any of the "digital" camo material. (Kind of contradictory since the Kashyyyk Troopers are all digital characters... ) The best thing to do would be to get some tan material that is closest to the base color of the armor, and paint the camo patterns on it yourself. That way they would match the camo patterns on the armor. Just my suggestion. ( I mean, you have to paint the camo on the armor anyway...) The grey-green material for the cummerbund looks pretty good. (Not too much of one color. Pretty good blend.) And the color on the strips for the cummerbund, as well. The shins straps look like they have a good color of tan to them. Not too bad on your choices.
  24. Here's what I did with the cod for my son's Kashyyyk... It's hips, and covered with monk's cloth. Painted it the base color tan and then added camo paint. At the top, I put two snaps. On the regular pants, I wear a belt. On the belt I have two pieces of nylon strap material. I made two separate loops that have the other parts of the snap on it. I made them separate, so they can float on the pants belt and make it easier to attach the cod. Then put the cummerbund with rubber belt over the top cod area with the snaps, and you're done. I did not connect it to the riding patch at all. Does that help any?
  25. As long as the shin stays where it is as you walk, and doesn't rub on the toe armor, it should be fine. Plus, I could never get the toe armor to stay completely down on the sides. I glued some foam pieces to the underside of the toe armor and then it was glued to the top of the boot. After that dried, I took a brush and painted the foam the same color as the boot. It wasn't a thick piece of foam, but it worked. That would give it a "floating" look. Plus you can push down on the toe armor and foam as it's being glued, to get it closer to the top of the boot. But, make sure that there is plenty of room at the point where the shin will go underneath the toe armor, on the top of the boot. That has to flow well, as you walk. Helmet looks real good on the sides. And the color on the knee looks good. You are moving along very well!
