  1. Wow! Whatever caffiene infested drink you are having, I'll take one. There's nothing that says how the cummerbund has to be made. Just as long as it looks like the screen references. Most people (like us old guys) have made them this way based on whoever started to build this thing. For me, the opening in the back works because then the tank and the two large back pouches will hide the seam of the cummerbund coming together. Give it a shot and make one like you said. See how it works and fits on you. Nobody said we can't be creative. We have to do some odd things to get this costume to work. Oh, and yeah....blame the Grump. Sheesh!
  2. There's really no way to prevent it. It doesn't move up much, but it's just something that happens. And a way to prevent any of the camo undersuit to show between the bottom of the chest plate and the cummerbund, is to make the cummerbund a little taller in the front, so you know only the cummerbund will be showing. Once you get everything done and do your first test run with everything on, you can adjust it any way you feel that would be comfortable to you. If you want to attach the chest to the cummerbund, go for it. If it works, then there you go.
  3. Sweeeeeeeet!!!!! That looks real clean.
  4. The small rectangular grey rubber piece sits on the shoulder strap area of the chest plate and the back plate. It's like an outside connector. Look at a Biker Scout. Their chest piece has a white fabric piece "connecting" them together. There will be a gap between the chest and back plate, at the shoulder, but the grey greeb covers that. I have velcro on the back of my greeb and two pieces on the armor, so the greeb just sits on top of the velcro on the armor. Sort of like a "connecting" piece, but just to cover the gap. Clear as mud?
  5. Everybody's tank position looks fine. Once you fill in the seam around it, put on the base coat, and start adding camo to it, you won't even notice the position. Besides, when you have everything on, you will find yourself pulling down the chest plate in the front, because the tank is pulling it back. Only we would notice the small things. OCD is good for me!
  6. Holy crud! Wow! I hope you heal up well. Take care of yourself first! Armor is just armor...it can wait. And can I say..."Ewww!"" Breakin' the jaw...ouuuuuuch!!!! Get well soon, Susie!! (Time to put Tim back to work... )
  7. Here's a couple pics of the pants with the thigh pouches. The left side has an angle the opposite of the right side. Nothing too harsh. Just a small bit. (Not the greatest pictures, either. ) The flaps can come down a little more. This pic is just an example. As long as the pouch has the specific design for the flap, it should be okay. I'll get back with you on the visor. (PM sent)
  8. Hey Eric, The overall appearance looks very good! Great job putting it together. But, from what I see in the pictures, there are some details that need attention. (Were these pictures recently taken?) Don't take this the wrong way. I am not making any harsh criticisms. Just helpful suggestions and advice. I just want to help you get your Kashyyyk looking as best as it can. Could you post some pics that show specific parts? I think you might need to add a few things to comply with the CRL. Post pics of: The belt. (The inside of the squares on the belt should be black.) The glove gauntlet. (Doesn't appear to have the gauntlet greeblie.) The back of the tank. (Needs the black stripe.) The thigh pouches. (There is a specific design for the flap of the thigh pouch.) The pouches. (Need some more camo paint designs on them.) The inside of the shins. (Needs a strap detail piece.) The golden-yellow paint. (It can still be seen. It needs to be a different color....like dirt...or some form of battle damage...or blaster scorching.) If you need any guidance on anything, please ask either myself, Heatshock, of any other Kashyyyk Trooper. We're here to help.
  9. Gloves are starting to look good, guys!
  10. That might be the way to go. I think it's supposed to be flush with the tank. (I think) The Mr.Bungle style had a indentation and the tank greeb sat inside. But, this is not that style. The support plate would be a good idea. That way you would create your own indentation to hold the greeb.
  11. Love the pic with Commander Gree. Those are always good! **get that gear...dirty...** Welcome to the Swamp!
  12. I believe that there will not be any more info for this thread. PGHFett pretty much pulled everything from these threads. When a re-caster copied his work and sold it as their own, Fett stopped making the armor. Which is why some of his original kits did not have shins, boot toppers and other parts. Re-casting is bad. So, as a result of re-casting, he pulled the tutorials. I would advise those looking here to check the other Kashyyyk Trooper build threads in the Kashyyyk HQ section. Also, start your own build thread and ask questions of the veteran Kashyyyk Troopers. If you get stuck, ask either myself, Heatshock, or any of the other KST's. We are here to help you get through this. END OF LINE
  13. Hey Brent, I can only be brief right now. So, I can address just a few things. The visor....there is nothing saying that you have to do any filling to it. Nobody looks under the visor and makes any comments about it. That's all up to you. I just sanded and smoothed it down as best as I could. It's not that important. Just a good sanding and if it feels good under your fingers...then there you go. No need to add extra weight. The build is up to you on certain things. Shins are the same ...just a front and the back. They are identical. Bicep pieces... The backs are the same. For your left bicep, it will be the smooth front. For your right bicep, you will have the piece with the two bumps on the outside. One of the specific bicep greeblies will fit in between those two humps. Use a dremmel to trim. And for the bucket, as well. I painted the inside of the helmet black, after everything was done. For me, it was easier to use a brush and paint the inside of the helmet by hand. So, you wont get and overspray from a can. For the shoulder bells, I have a strap that connects the top of the bell to the front chest plate and the back/tank plate. Those are connected and then a strap come from that to the shoulder bell. You'll see as you progress. More on that later. I'll get back with you later, if you have anymore questions. (I'm sure that you will.) You'll have plenty of help here. With us experienced Kashyyyk Troopers, as well as those that are currently in the middle of their builds, we should be able to advise you on what to do and what not to do. Cheers! And be sure to check the other build threads. There are plenty of them. You might even go back a page or two and check the older builds to help you.
  14. C'mon, Mike...pssst...*whispers*..."it's a kashyyyk trooper build..."
  15. It does appear that the straps stop. (Maybe they do.) It does seem like it could go either way. (Here we go with the flaws of CGI and the way we translate it into something tangible...) Is it the top of the cummerbund sticking out....or the lip of the bottom of the chest armor sitting on top of the cummerbund?? Based on the design of the chest piece with the lip, it seems more likely that the lip of the chest armor would sit on top of the cummerbund. As with what is seen with the Biker Scout, (I'm not a Biker expert...it's just what I read and see.) you don't want any of the flight suit (Jump suit, shirt, whatever...) to show between the armor and the 'bund. Make sense? Because of what is shown in the scene detail pic, the lip of the chest piece should stay. It's while wearing these things that you find yourself pulling the chest piece down, because it will ride up on you during a troop. Mainly because the weight of the back piece with the tank will be pulling it down in the back and your chest piece will work its way towards your throat. Good question. Good point. Good scene pic. Keep up the good work Mike!
  16. Yep. The Rit Dark Brown will give a slight tint of purple. But, most of ours here in the U.S. seem to do that. To me, it's no big concern. Looks good.
  17. The sole looks as white as the shoe. You need to add some tan to it.
  18. Acceptable! Comments from the rest of the peanut gallery?
  19. To, me, it's not scraping the whole paint job. It should be an option to have the grey/chrome undercoat or no undercoat at all, for basic level. Nothing more than that. You could have it as an added detail or not. it's only going to be mixed in with the camo anyway. Level II...yes.
  20. It doesn't seem too shiny, though. There are some other grey/chrome spots on the tank of some of the KST's, in some of the other scenes. And, not that it matters here, but in the RL, they do not accept you if you have any "chrome" showing.
  21. Exactly what I've said many times. Thank you!
  22. Yeah, definately not a lot of traffic. But, we do what we can. And like you said, we compromised and came up with what appears to be a good CRL. (Yes,it is based on what we could find in the freeze-frames.) It's still hard to do a CRL for a CGI character that doesn't get a whole lot of screen time. "Always on the go..." I'm done. END OF LINE
  23. Yes. It corrects the colors of specific items that were previously listed with the correct colors, as seen in the movie. (Screen grabs.) The modified CRL looks good. Nate, ya out there? Any other comments, suggestions, or objectons from anyone else? Let's finish this thing up, already! Basic is for what's seen in the movie. Plain and simple. The revised CRL corrects the colors. Not much else. The level II style is based on just a few differences from the basic style, and is not required at all for approval. And, once again, all currently approved Kashyyyk Troopers do not have to make changes in their armor or colors. After the finalization of the proposed "corrected" CRL for the Kashyyyk Trooper is active, that is what will be accepted for approval. If current Kashyyyk Troopers wish to update their KST's to match the new CRL, they can do that as well. On a related note... I also hope that the GML's around the globe will follow these CRL's when deciding on an approval for a new Kashyyyk Trooper, instead of options or parts that "look good enough." Isn't that what that one thread is for....to show your pics that will be sent in for approval, for suggestions on what might not be correct? That's what we are here for, people. "Pre-clearance Completed Costume Show-offs" http://forum.bikersc...hp?showforum=97 Although there are no new KST's yet. The build threads are fine, too. But, when you get all of the puzzle put together, post up some pics in the above link, for review. Nate! Hey Nate!!
