You just keep on keeping on brother we're to help you along. As far as Lancer is concerned there's no reason you can't take your armor to that next level. You already have a great start with your upgrades it's just a bit more to reach that next level and we're here to help you along the way. Look forward to seeing this kit come along and keep posting those questions and posting pics love to see the progress!

2 quick questions for Belt and drop box straps.
Retrofire replied to TB-1599's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I used snaps to connect the front and rear straps for the drop boxes. You can find them at Tandy or Amazon and they usually come with a setting tool. Another option could be to sew them to the belt or use Velcro. I don't think I would go with rivets as that puts a potentially sharp piece of metal at your back. Regarding the TD clips the ROTJ TD uses rivets to connect those pieces. If you go that route remember to use a backing washer to keep it from pulling back through. Shaunpug (Shaun) has done some great research with the TD with pics. Here's the link: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=17040. Hope that helps and keep the great questions coming! -
That look like an SC belt. That what I have and while it's a little tight my 1.5" straps fit through the slots. It looks like you might have to open them up a little more. Here's a pic of my belt with the slots cleaned out. Here's where the come through the back. Here they are suited up. Maybe hit the slots with a rat tail file and some sand paper to smooth. That should do the trick. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I love that opening statement..."had a day off and what the heck I'll just make a new bund". Really nice start the one difference I see is that your older bund had a good amount of padding between the layers and the new one seems a little thin. Maybe it's the weathering that brings it out. Can I ask what material you found? It looks like a good match. Thanks for sharing this and keep up the great work! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Welcome to the Pathfinders! It's a shared affliction and I think we all have it.

I'm like Tim I don't roll with the comm gear either. The only thing I do carry sometimes is an iPod with chatter in my pouch. Ukswrath (Tony) has a nice setup over on the trade forum you can check out if you're interested.

2 quick questions for Belt and drop box straps.
Retrofire replied to TB-1599's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
The webbing can either be cotton or synthetic. If you are working toward Lancer you'll want the 1.5" cotton webbing for your drop boxes, bridge straps, and chest/back armor connections. For the belt that should be 2" and for that connection I used Nylon since it has some stress from bending and the TD weight. I didn't want it to sag. -
Can someone share the fabric make? I'd like to give this a whirl. Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Yeah I blame guys like Mickey for that. I'm looking at my armor every time I troop. I'm a freak about checking it in a mirror before I step out to make sure everything is squared away and I have a garrison mate check me from the back to make sure it's square from there. I did a stupid move a few weeks back and I put my bund in with my flight suit and it ended up bleeding a little on my bund from the suede. What a doh! moment. So a new one is in the works. If I happen to come across that material I'll let you know. My mom does a ton of sewing and she has a couple of speciality stores that she goes to so if I can't find it locally I'll have her look. Either way I'll pass on the info.

That's funny you bring that up. I was talking about this with I think Shaun and I came to the same thought in that it looked synthetic along the lines of ski jacket material. That's a great find. I'm starting a new bund for my Lancer submission and I was going to see if I could find this material and give it a try. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Several Questions concerning the "soft" armor.

About to buy my kit, just want to verify a couple choices
Retrofire replied to Kaabous's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Regarding your participation it all depends on what your Garrison needs are for the specific troop. Here in the Dune Sea I've never been denied a troop because I was a scout. My CO encourages all the Garrison members to participate. I don't think being a TB will limit you in any way. If anything the TKs in my Garrison love to have the TBs as they kind of go hand in hand and we feel the same way about them. I love trooping with all sorts of different folks. It awesome to meet new folks in the Garrison who have put together amazing costumes. The last one I trooped with was a level 3 Fett and that rig was crazy cool. Took him like 30-40 minutes to suit there was so much to put on. We ended up just talking shop while he suited. Sorry I digress I'll bet that your Garrison CO Is going to be tickled to have another troop and I can't imagine any limitations there. -
I don't remember hearing any of the STs speaking in R1. Maybe shoot this question to one of folks over in the ST armory they might have some more insight.

Take a look at the unit made by ukswrath (Tony) on the trade forum and see if that might work for you. There was no static burst with the scouts in ROTJ so that's something you might want to keep in mind as you research.

Thanks Shaun I remember you mentioning it now. I ended up not being able to find that particular size so I had to go with the 5/8ths but thankfully the dia actually measured out under that. Huge difference from the previous one and looks a ton better. What did you end up with for length on either side of the TD box? The film version looks a bit lopsided and I wanted to even that out but I couldn't find a good way to ensure scale.

Duck cloth is the preferred material. There are some great threads on the bund and pouches in the armory that I can recommend to you. The one that most comes to mind is by Strider. I personally prefer the white pouches but off white is just fine. Just keep in mind that you will want your drop box and chest/back armor straps to match in the same off white color. Here's the link to Strider's bund tutorial: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=15433

Anytime! If you're in need of a hose I went with a 1 5/8 hose from HD. It was in the plumbing aisle where the hoses are for dishwashers/disposals. It's a clear hose with a mesh reinforcement. I cut that down to about the length of my original hose that came with my SC kit the wrapped it with the cord using a touch of CA glue every 2-3 wraps or so.

You should have enough posts to see the trade forum now. Stop by there and check out some of the makers. Also drop by the armory and look through the boot forum as that will give you some great info on the boots and how folks put them together. There are some great scout cobblers on here.

TB 16178 Requesting Lancer Status (APPROVED)
Retrofire replied to Eyeslave's topic in Lancer Deployment Request

Hi Dan. Shaun found that an extension cord would do the trick. I ended up going with two 12' HDX cords I found at HD. I cut off the ends and pulled them apart. You won't want to use the side with the raised areas so toss that. Some others have used RJ11 phone cable and cat5 cable. Hope that helps!

He'll realize how cool it is on a long troop when he can SIT instead of lean against something😀.

You'll need a minimum of five post to access the trade forum. My advice would be to head over to the armory and look through the soft armor and boot threads. That will begin to give you an idea of what you need and even some info about suppliers. Keep posting those questions as we're here to helpðŸ‘.

You CAN do it! You're not alone in your journey. There's lots of reference material and folks here that are here to encourage and help you. ðŸ‘ðŸ»

Welcome to the Pathfinders! You're in the right place to start your journey to your service in the Empire. Best place to start is over in the armory looking through all the various parts that make up this great armor. I also suggest reviewing the Costume Requirements Listing (CRL) for the scout. You'll need a minimum of five posts before you can see the trade forum so head out start reading and let us know if we can assist you. We're here to help you be as successful as possible!
