I think it's great. There are several scouts in my garrison that use a voice changer. Great way to take a mod and run with it! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

That looks much better. I'd lock that pattern in and go for it. Don't forget the 2" elastic around your thighs. It's best to get an idea of length while you are wearing it so it doesn't come out too loose. That gets sewn in under the suede so you want to make sure that's right before you commit to the seam. Keep up the great work!

The 1.5" is acceptable and the 1.375" is no longer necessary. The sizes of elastic you'll need are 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2 inch. I would recommend strapping to Lancer spec. If you decide to go for it in the future that part is already done. Hope this helps!

Looks like you are off to a great start Jen! Don't worry about about Lancer for The time being you need to build a suit that's comfortable to you. You can always work the rest of your armor to Lancer standards and save the flight suit for later. The front looks ok but the back looks a little high to me. The back will basically wrap around the thigh and not rise to the belt line. Your mupflap will cover this area so using additional suede here isn't necessary. Here's a link to one of more recent patterns that might help: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?/topic/15973-New-Riding-Patch-Templates. Here's what my riding patches and flap look like on my suit. Hope this helps.

The Aren't You A Little Sort For A...Biker Scout (WIP)
Retrofire replied to StoutScout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
That's a fine looking TD! Great work! -
Congrats Pathfinder x2!

That's the best way to deal with the edges. Your calf piece is going to cover the uppermost part of the toe piece so that part won't be seen. That being said it's always good to address these little issues before you move on in your build and the attention to detail will give you a better result. Looking forward to seeing more keep up the great work!

Welcome to the Pathfinders Austin! Best place to look is over in the trade forum. There are several folks here that make softgoods. You'll need a minimum of five posts to see the forum so head out and take a look around and if there is anything more we can do to help let us know.

Looks much better. The top two or so rows or laces should be covered with your calf piece and dogbone so you are looking good. As I mentioned before you got a really nice smooth stretch going there.

The Ultimate Armor Comparison Thread!
Retrofire replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
One can never know with how inconsistent they were in '83 with this particular set of armor. George is a pretty fussy guy when it comes to how his actors look on screen so it strikes me funny that there are so many different interpretations. Much like the FISD we almost have a type of "stunt" and "hero" Scouts. It's fascinating to read about how Nilo, Pete Ronzini, Ira Keeler, Aggie Rodgers and the others created this wonderful suit of armor we love. -
I have to agree with StoutScout. I used the same base boot but swapped out the laces for the flat tennis shoe ones. It keeps the boot tight on your foot but sits flat when stretching the vinyl. I think you got a nice stretch going and other than the laces it's looking great. Here's a link to my boot thread if you would like to take a look. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=14026

The Ultimate Armor Comparison Thread!
Retrofire replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Is the comparison image reversed? The holster is on the left boot. -
Welcome to the Pathfinders! A good place to start is over in the Armory where you can learn about all the various makers. I'll send you a PM with some suggestions. I would also recommend that you touch base with your local garrison which I believe is the Terror Australis Garrison (www.501tag.com).

Bought gloves from ebay. Are these basic approved?
Retrofire replied to Kosejonas's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
What are you waiting for? Go pull the CRL and make it happen and let us know if you need any help. -
Check your major sporting goods stores there. I would be surprised if they didn't sell around the world. Also check with you Garrison mates they may be able to point you in the right direction.

I wear a UA balaclava and it's perfect for the Arizona heat so you made a good choice.

I don't disagree but the pricing is way too much. An RS or an eFX is just too crazy expensive for a bucket. Other than the scouts in this det who's going to know if I'm in an Altmann's, SC or an RS?

Adjustments to pre-owned armor
Retrofire replied to TK-41015's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
1.) The adjustments required would be mostly based on if the previous owner has the same body shape and size. Each set of armor is "fitted" to the individual. It's a rare occurrence that no adjustments would be required. 2.) The bund and vest can certainly be modified but again that depends on how it initially fits on you. The vest sleeves should be around 0.5 (12mm) to an inch (25mm) past the shoulder bell. The cummerbund is a little trickier. The height of the bund should span the space between your belt and chest armor. It shouldn't go below your belt line. Due to the way the bund is made it might be difficult to modify and a new one might have to be made. 3.) The overalls are a little easier to fit if somewhat too large. A tailor can help you resize them and take in any bunching at the arms and legs and hem them for length. The critical parts there are the riding patches, mudflap, and thigh straps but those shouldn't be affected by the fitting. 4.) Generally, It's adjustable as long as you are going smaller than the original sizing. Most of the costume is soft goods so those can be repaired, replaced. You can always adjust the strapping to fit for the belt, forearms, bicep, knees, and shoulders. The chest and back armor are usually trimmed at the shoulders. If you have enough space there and at the sides you should be fine. I would suggest suiting up and taking some pics of the front, back, and sides and review them. That way you will get an idea of how the armor fits and looks on you and give you an idea of what needs to be adjusted. Post them here as well if you would like and we would be more than happy to help you with any additional questions you might have. -
I left about half my laces in to keep the boot secure below my ankle. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

I would touch base with some Pathfinders in your Garrison. I bet they'll have the lowdown on where you can find those boots. I got mine from Kmart but I'm not sure if they ship to Canada.

Both our Detachment XO (GriffinX) and Webmaster (Forest Ranger) are members of the Star Garrison and we have a few other members lurking about as well so listen to Stasz you must and get in contact with your local Garrison as well. There's lots of great information and a host of top notch folks here to help so pull up a seat and make yourself at home. If there is anything we can do post it up we're here to help you be successful in your journey to approval! Best place to start is over in the armory where you'll learn about the various parts of the armor and building techniques to make it look great.

I think my boots are done. Are they Lancer ready?
Retrofire replied to TB-1599's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
These look great! I don't think you have any issues with these passing Lancer. -

How do you keep your faceplate open?
Retrofire replied to Speedy-T's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
How about some sort of ratcheting setup like those used in motorcycle helmets? Those have full faces like our buckets and they stay up. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk -
Congratulations Pathfinder!
