That looks just a bit to large an area for your riding patches. I would bring them up and in just a bit. Here's a really good thread to take a look at that will give you a good scale and pic of the movie Scout thrown in. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18137 You can use an old pair of jeans to make it easier to get a pattern that fits your body and you can read more about it here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=17840 Once you get your pattern sorted out remember to also pin in your elastic thigh straps before you sew the patch. It will save you a lot of extra work. Keep up the great work and keep posting progress snaps!

A word to the wise for those of you that are tackling this awesome mod. Make sure that you have good solid connections from the TD to your belt as this mod is much heavier than a standard "tube" TD. I would say that belt clips are a must with this. I'm using rare earth magnets and belt clips to keep mine in place. I mention this as I've had to repair it twice now and hopefully this go I've solved all the problems. Oh yeah I learned that you shouldn't jump on trampolines with it on either😀

I didn't paint my SC. The color is just fine. I would recommend painting the rectangle on your chest piece medium grey. I think it looks much better than the sticker SC includes in the kit. Just mask out the lines and use Humbrol or Testors.

Give these a shot 1.) I used Texas Steer boots from Kmart. They are easy to modify and the soles are the correct color as well as easy to cut. They are also comfortable to wear even on long troops. 2.) The best thing to do is get some painters tape and test fit your straps with your belt. Keep in mind that the boxes should be 1.5-2 inches from you belt line. Here's a picture of the back half of my belt. 3.) SC is always a good source you can shoot them an email. There is also Chef, WTF, and Spike that have greeblies as well. 4.) Strider has an excellent Lancer build thread over in the armory. I highly recommend that you give it a look through as he addresses the shoulder straps. Hope this helps!

Woot! BBB day is the best! As far as advice goes take some time to go through the armory and review the various pieces of the armor. Start a build thread so others can follow along and give you any help should you need it. Take it a step at a time and go slow to keep from mistakes and remember we're here for you if you need any help so don't hesitate to reach out should you have need.

Alan has a good point about the chest armor. Sometimes what happens is that the bund keeps the chest from dropping down on your shoulders. It looks like your bund is a bit bunched up in the back in the pic and that might be why your chest armor isn't sitting fully down on your shoulders. The way I don my chest armor is to put my vest on then my bund over it and then put my chest armor assembly over that. I leave one end unstrapped so I can get it over my vest and bund but I usually look to a fellow trooper to help make sure it's sitting right. You're starting to come down to fitment and it's looking good. Keep up the great work!

I have the bolts and the headband separate. If you got the 3M band it won't work with the bolts in the Altmanns lid. I'll bring my lid on Friday so you can take a look at my setup. It's a easy mod to do. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

If you have any scrap that would be a good way to test your technique. Don't hold it too close and make a few passes at a time and test if it has softened enough. For your biceps I would recommend making a few passes then gently squeezing the ends together where the strapping will go. Go a little at a time heat squeeze a bit then let it cool check for fit and repeat if necessary. You can do this! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

Starting to look good. Looks like you are missing your biceps t-bits and the rectangle on your chest needs to be grey. Other than a couple of things looks like you're about ready to submit! Keep up the great work!

I put in returns on my front and back armor and stopped short of the bridge. Here are a few pics of what I did. If you check out panda troopers thread he has an amazing tutorial on doing returns. Hope this helps and let me know if you need any more info.

That looks much better. I'd lock that pattern in and go for it. Don't forget the 2" elastic around your thighs. It's best to get an idea of length while you are wearing it so it doesn't come out too loose. That gets sewn in under the suede so you want to make sure that's right before you commit to the seam. Keep up the great work!

The 1.5" is acceptable and the 1.375" is no longer necessary. The sizes of elastic you'll need are 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2 inch. I would recommend strapping to Lancer spec. If you decide to go for it in the future that part is already done. Hope this helps!

Looks like you are off to a great start Jen! Don't worry about about Lancer for The time being you need to build a suit that's comfortable to you. You can always work the rest of your armor to Lancer standards and save the flight suit for later. The front looks ok but the back looks a little high to me. The back will basically wrap around the thigh and not rise to the belt line. Your mupflap will cover this area so using additional suede here isn't necessary. That's the best way to deal with the edges. Your calf piece is going to cover the uppermost part of the toe piece so that part won't be seen. That being said it's always good to address these little issues before you move on in your build and the attention to detail will give you a better result. Looking forward to seeing more keep up the great work!
