I would post these pics to the armourer forum and get their read. I know that Chef is experienced with pulling armor and can probably help. If that's the only questionable piece then you might be able to replace it. That pull does look pretty bad and it looks like the center v-wedge has some issues towards the bottom as well. Also, check with your garrison GML as they are the ones that will ultimately be approving it. Chin up my friend there is always a solution:)

Well Mickey always said that Lancer should be blood, sweat, and tears. I got the first two down in sure the last will come after they review my submission

That goes for your boot cuts too. I got distracted and it cost me stitches in the ER. The look on the docs face was great though "you were doing what again?" but doc you don't understand I need to shoot for Lancer:)

Pandatrooper's SC Biker Scout build
Retrofire replied to Pandatrooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
One item of note is that in this build the TD greeblie is installed upside down. He has amazing technique and I'm among the ones who used his thread as reference during my build but no matter who you reference always keep the CRL handy and double check the reqmt before you execute it. It will save you from mistakes and a little frustration from do-overs. A build thread is recommended as that gives the experienced troopers a chance to come along side and help if/when you need. -
Message received Chef! I'll be sure to use separate primer and paint and the same maker. Thanks all for the lessons!
-
Tim do you mean use a separate primer and paint rather than an "all in one"? I'm planning to paint my son's WTF armor and I want to do it right the first time.
-
Use can use a flat bladed screw driver and GENTLY pry it up off the TD. You want to be careful not to damage the greeblie. E6000 is pretty forgiving if you want to fix a part which is why it's recommended. Thankfully you didn't use CA glue:) Tell your friend that once he gets its removed to sand both pieces with some 220 to remove any raised areas of glue and then reglue it to the TD. Easy fix just be a little patient with the operation.

Wait till you get it all together and don it it'll look even awesomer! I would suggest getting a build thread started. That will create a venue where you can ask questions and get pointers if you should need. We're here to help you be 100% successful so don't hesitate to reach out should you need to.

Wow! Looking really excellent! The side strapping looks to be spot on. Once you get everything together you can do your fitment suit up and dial everything in then. For the TD I ultimately went the magnet route as it makes putting it on as simple as reach and lock into place on your belt. I found that looping it through the belt made it harder for me to suit up which is already hard once you start putting all the various pieces on so I went with the magnets. I got the idea from Pandatrooper and recreated it on my build thread so you can look either place for pointers if you need but it's pretty easy to do. Keep up the great work you'll be posting pre-approval pics in no time!

Big, small the Pathfinders welcome all! Welcome to the BS.N forest! There are quite a few makers here so getting you armor that fits shouldn't be a problem. You'll need a minimum of five posts to access The trade forums so head out and start looking around and if you have any questions feel free to post up.

You read my mind Tim!
-
Good to know. Thanks Tim I'll head back over change my order to get a longer strand. No. I'm going to repurpose the old ones. I'll use my trusty heat gun to make the caps convex. Jeff over at SC has awesome service and if I mess these up I'll hit him up for a new set.
-
Shoot! I should have waited for this post. I think I ended up with about 15' of the grey. How many turns did you do on your tube Tim?
-
That's funny just ordered some a moment ago:)
-
Thanks a ton Tim that really helps!

Ok which one of you Ewok lovers can point me to where I can find what I need to do to build a revised new screen accurate TD for Lancer? Honestly though I could use some help here. I've found a few threads but nothing concrete. Not sure if I need to break new ground here, which might be fun, or if there is something already defined. Many thanks!

Based on how nice Greedos armor is that you did it would be nothing short of sweet Spike. Hopefully there will enough interest for you to make a go of it as I'd love to see what you come up with.

Squeeeeeee!!! Must find maker!
-
Seriously?!?! I didn't think a maker would do this. I'm stoked!

You're doing exactly what you need to do and that's take the time to get the fit right. Remember the measure twice cut once adage. You don't want to make a mistake that you'll regret later so keep up the test fits and get everything right on the first go. If you look at the last picture you have a bit of drop on your back armor. It could be that the bridge overlaps aren't even though. A good way to get/keep the chest/back level is to sit them both on a level surface then overlap and tape the bridges. Since I'm a pipsqueak I had to trim the bridges down and heat them up to pull the two pieces in but you may not have to do that you want the two pieces to line up so the side strapping is as level as possible. Remember that this part also goes over two pieces of soft armor (flightsuit & vest) s9o make sure you keep a bit of room to account for that. Looking at the pics it doesn't seem to that you'll need to "bend" the bridge straps in. It should be about center over your shoulder and it looks ok to me. Keep up the great work and stay patient it will pay off in the end.

Typical Helmet Questions... don't shoot me, I'm new
Retrofire replied to Bugz's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
There are several over in the Armory but some also end up in build threads. You just have to leaf through them. There's just so much information on the helmet it can be overwhelming but keep at it. Another thought would be to search You Tube for KS build maybe someone posted a video there? Just a thought. -
Thanks for the education. I remember reading that some makers will place "tells" on their pieces that only they know about to identify their work in cases like this.
-
How can you tell a recast? I'm asking because I wouldn't have been able to tell. Do the makers leave some sort of signature that helps a buyer know it's a recast.

Looking good so far! If you need something else to do your knees will need the 0.5" elastic riveted to the top. Add some scrap plastic to the insides to strengthen it then you can rivet the elastic in. Just make sure you size the elastic in your flightsuit or jeans so you get the length right. You don't want to have to drill rivets out if you don't have to:) I think Panda covers that and I think it's in my build thread too if you need. Keep up the good work!
