You can use a heat gun to bring the edges together but I would wait until you have your elastic straps installed and see how much they pull the armor together before using a heat gun. After you do that and if you feel a heat gun is necessary I would make a few passes with the gun on low and squeeze them together gently until you get the width you need. Wear your flight suit or a suitable representation when you do this to have a gauge of how much you need to pull it in. Go slowly.

You're top notch Steve. It's awesome that you're making changes to these already fabulous lids!

I found the same issue and I did as Mickey suggests and added a return to my front and back chest armor. It especially helps with the area right under the arm.

That's looking awesome Craig! I used a magnetic attachment for my TD with the clips if that might be an idea for you. Here's the location if you are interested. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=14946&st=80 Looking forward to seeing you in this rig with a "Pathfinder" tag under your name

SC Printed Belt instructions
Retrofire replied to Kyuzo Larkin's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Can you throw up a pic of the belt center and the new holes? That will help with getting an understanding of the situation. -
I'm afraid not. That was an ultra-limited run and only a lucky few were able to score that beauty.

I wear an Altmann's and it's top notch. This doesn't mean that there are not other choices out there. I would head over to the Armory and do some research in the Helmet forum. You can learn a lot there. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showforum=70

An idea might be to use an X-acto razor saw to cut off the square portion. It's real precise and will give you a nice clean cut.
-
That's exactly the way I did my chest fitment. I used painters tape and adjusted to fit my torso. This is where patience is really a virtue. Trim a little and then test fit, then trim a little then test fit again, and repeat till you have a good comfortable fit. You want it snug but not compressing your ribcage I also used my heat gun to heat the shoulder tabs and curve them down lower like Panda did. It helped to fit my build better.

Too true Tim. Mine is so valuable I considered switching out my hold out blaster with my heat gun in my boot holster. My trusty heat gun and sealing iron I won't be without 'em.

No sweat Eric. Yeah we loved LL Florida. We went to the one in San Diego a year before and my son got some pics with Darth Maul. We also saw the lifesize Lego X-Wing which was just amazing. Great memories with my little Padawans on those trips! Now they're growin and looking to put on the armor like Dad....well one is the other...do I dare say it? Wants to be an X-wing pilot Hoping seeing his older brother in armor turns him to the dark side

The screen scouts used the Hi-Tec Sierra Sneaker IV as the base boot. You can Google a pic of it to get an idea of how the soles are cut.

Questions are what we are here for so ask away Rick and keep asking them. Yes, there is a member on the trade forum that offers them but you'll need five posts to access that forum. So head out into the forums for some more research and for a few more posts. The bolts are plastic and depending on what type of helmet you have might require a little modification to fit. Take a look about half way down in Cheyenne's (Forest Ranger) build thread here: http://forum.bikersc...ic=14850&st=40. She did some mods to her bolts to make them fit her Altmann's. The necessary mods really depends on what lid you have.

The boots are looking great Eric. Looking forward to seeing some vinyl stretched on them!

It's looking really good so far. I would remove, trim off, the return (lip) on the bottom of the shoulder bell so it is flush. You got the rounded corners on them and that looks good. It looks like the knee on the right could use a little more trimming to bring it even with the left one. Most of the rest of it looks like just a bit trimming and sanding it smooth with some 220 followed with some 400. You're on the right track keep at it! Jim (Griffin-X) wears a modified KS and knows way more about this particular armor than I so I'll defer to him.

Your TD and tank topper kits are right on the money. There is a small problem with the DJ T-bits in that while the top (horizontal) part is correct the bottom (vertical) part is not exactly correct. It should be smooth except for the "allen" screws located on each side of the part. Here's a link to a pic on the 501st site: http://databank.501st.com/databank/File:TB_scout_biceps.jpeg . I think if you just fill in the area between the "screws" with some putty and sand it you should be fine.

Statz is on point on that one. Get a good pair of gel inserts or similar and you won't go wrong with these boots. Good ewok stompers I think.
-
Yeah, That's the one I'm using and it's great. You can pull the face down under your chin if you need more air or keep it Ninja style. It's worth it here in the desert.

How to people store/transport their armour?
Retrofire replied to Canterbury Tail's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
I'm using the exact same Husky case as well along with a custom bikerscout helmet cover from Sgt Carida. The case is perfect. Fits everything and some extras. Here is a pic of my crate: -
Welcome to the team and thanks!

You're welcome my friend. I'm one of many around here. Troopers helping troopers brother. This is why this is the best Det and forum in the good ole 501st!
-
This is probably the one SC uses: http://www.joann.com...BBuckle&start=1 I'm using a 1.5" strap and it fits just about right on. They run about $4 or so at Jo-Anne's.
-
I have 1 3/4" wide parachute buckles on my drop boxes that came with the SC armor.
-
You're right on target and I understand. I stared at my armor for days before I got up the nerve to take my Lexan scissors to it but the folks around here we're right behind me and I had a lot of build pics to go by as well. I had several bookmarked that I kept referring back to. When in doubt post up with a pic or two and you'll get the support you need.

Here's how mine knees look: Just make sure you test fit so it's sized to your leg right and the outer facing rivet will be painted white for Lancer. I did a dork move and didn't size it before I installed it and had to remove it and do it over again.
