  1. Yeah my thought is its a duck cloth type garment with a LOT of padding inside of it to give it some thickness
  2. After bouncing my thoughts off of @MrPoopie I'm convinced that the boot has a sleeve over it and the shin armor sits over the sleeve. I will be incorporating language similar to this into our CRL. This is from the FO Snowtrooper Boot cover: Is a tall, tubular sleeve made from fabric similar to that of a tri-cot polyester twill-blend with square-like pattern. (NOTE: All fabric pieces are required to be made from the same fabric and cannot be made from different-like materials). This sleeve covers the upper body of the boot and extends past the white elastic strap of the knee cup on the shinguard armor when worn. I also think that the hip "armor" is actually cloth. Probably something heavy like canvas. And the pouches rest on top of it. I think we should mock up a garment and go with that.
  3. We're here for you, Glen! Let us know how we can help. Chris from Blizzard Force offered up that the pant material may be the same as the FO Snowtrooper. If that helps at all. I'll be editing the CRL as your build progresses. Best of luck!
  4. It might look a little small on you. I'd try a bigger helmet. Kropserkel, Altmann, RS Props... all of those would probably look better on you. I'm speaking as a guy with a 60cm dome. I wear the RS Props and it fits fine. My Kropserkel fit fine as well.
  5. Awesome work!
  6. Told this to Dustin via chat but will repeat here for everyone chiming in. We've got a decent first draft costume here, but definitely needs some fine tuning. We're going to focus on the waist-up bits first and get that nailed down before fine-tuning the waist down. The faulds and shin armor/wraps or whatever is going on there are going to take a bit more review and input. But everything is proceeding well and we've made a TON of progress. Thanks Dustin, KB Props and Darkside Closet for getting us closer to the finish line.
  7. @Wompet yup, @gmrhodes13 is building the Treadspeeder Driver over here now. FISD didn't want it.
  8. @Cadet this costume has not been approved yet. The CRL is not done and there are still some issues to address before it is. What Dustin said above is correct, we've been greenlit to move forward with creating a CRL. We are not quite there yet!
  9. It really depends on the maker. Some are more accurate than others. I have the KW (Imperial Surplus) Shoretrooper kit and no adjustments are needed there. But yes, ideally we want to bring the ab as close to the Shoretrooper as possible, as that is our best reference for it. Another thing that might help -- make sure you get your belt on your waist and not sitting on your hips. That will help bring up the ab and the faulds and we can get a better idea of where adjustments need to be made. The pants texture -- I just took to mean it was a heavy duty fabric like duck cloth. It's not the kind of thing we would get too specific on for a Level 1. We'll be looking for a black jodhpur first and foremost. I know this is a lot and we still have a way to go here, but the progress you and KB have made so far has been amazing. It's never easy being the first at any costume, and this one in particular is challenging. But if we want the LMO team to approve this for trooping, we've got to get these little details right! I do have a thought about the boot. If you look at it from the side on that picture Glen posted, it appears there is some sort of cloth wrap between the shin armor and the trooper's leg. Unlike on the Shoretrooper, the shin armor does not appear to run the whole length of the trooper's shin down to the ankle.
  10. I've seen where folks have been able to insert the PP lens into a Sean Fields bucket, but Paul does not guarantee that and it would definitely be AT YOUR OWN RISK. The Shoretrooper bucket smashes into your face, that's a feature unfortunately. I put padding on the cheeks of my Sean Fields and that keeps it from crushing my nose.
  11. Chris over at Blizzard Force thought the pant material may be the same as the FO Snowtrooper pant.
  12. @gmrhodes13 is on staff for FISD, and since he's the guy that's building this thing, I'm sure he'll be on top of the latest CRL changes that may affect the Treadspeeder Driver!
  13. Morning, Pathfinders. I hope everyone is having an enjoyable Sunday and Happy Easter to those who celebrate. I was just checking out Make-A-Wish's website and it says sadly that "2,412 wishes have been postponed due to COVID-19." I want to find a way to make our Virtual Troop on May the 4th promote our charitable mission, so this is what I propose: On May 4, 2020, suit up in your Pathfinder costume, take a pic, and post it along with your TB/CB/ST ID in the provided post either on the forum or our FB page. Then make any donation you like to "fundraiser@501stpathfinders.com". You will receive a "2020 Supporter" forum badge for participating! If you can't suit up for whatever reason on May the 4th, just post a picture of yourself in Pathfinder costume along with your ID in the space provided that day. If you can't donate, that's okay too! You will still get a "2020 Supporter" Badge on your Pathfinders Forum profile for participating in our Virtual Troop. We understand this is a tough time for many of you and we don't want anyone to donate if it's a hardship. The Virtual Troop will run for 24 hours so we can cover the whole world. So from 00:00 GMT on May the 4th until 23:59 (where ever you are!). Once the Virtual Troop is over, we will then make a donation to Make-A-Wish! I look forward to seeing you all (online) May the 4th!
  14. Great. My thought on the shin guards are that the knee plates should be attached. Just like on the Shoretrooper. You already know my thoughts on the pouches. Id like to see those in a smaller size The faulds -- the detail seems to be made by adding a small piece of fabric/foam to the top of the fauld. On the figure it looks like this detail is etched/sewn into the fauld. So we need to tweak that some. The Biceps seem a bit wide? Can we make them fit you a little better?
  15. Swapped in the TLJ CRL!
  16. Thanks Dustin and KB Props for helping us get this done. I want to use this thread to critique the draft CRL costume that will be used for photos.
  17. Cool. I'll swap it out. This was just meant to be a start, not the end. I don't believe in reinventing the wheel if half the work has already been done.
  18. Hey Pathfinders Today we've been given the green light on two new CRLs: The First Order Mountain Trooper (from Disney's Galaxy's Edge attraction) and the First Order Treadspeeder Driver from "The Rise of Skywalker". We currently have a builder for each of these CRLs, so we hope to have them done soon. If you are interested in chiming in or just watching the CRL process play out, we've got dedicated forums for each: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/182-mountain-trooper/ http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/191-treadspeeder-driver/ Along with those two new CRLs, we are very far along on both the Mandalorian Scout and the Jedi: Fallen Order Scout. Coronavirus is proving to be a worthy opponent in finishing all of these CRLs, but in the end, the Pathfinders will prevail!
  19. Post photos and suggestions here.

  21. See you on May the 4th!
  22. Hey Pathfinders! If you're like me, you are pretty bummed out that all our troops have been cancelled due to controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. It's great to have this time to work on upgrading kits, but nothing can replace the joy of trooping. While it is very important that we continue to social distance and let this virus die out, I'd like to invite the Detachment to join me on a virtual troop on May the 4th. Suit up in your Pathfinder costume, take a picture and post it up in the thread I create that day, both here on the forum and on our FB page. When you post your pic, please don't forget to add your TB, CB or ST-ID. Unfortunately this won't count as an official 501st Troop, but every Pathfinder who joins our virtual May the 4th Troop will get a "2020 Supporter" badge added to their forum profile. May the 4th be with you! EDIT: We've added a charitable element to the troop. Please see this thread for more details:
