I've seen them go both ways. You're fine like that.
-
It's a Level 2 requirement, not for basic approval
-
Best reason: because that's the way it was done in the film. Also -- it's a requirement for Level 2 for the clips to be non-functional
-
No idea where the Pringle can terminology originated but it's not a very good indicator of the size of these canisters. Going off my Imperial Surplus armor, the horizontal one is 7.5 inches wide and 2.6875 inches in diameter The vertical one is 5.5 inches tall and 2.6875 inches in diameter.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Pathfinders May the 4th Virtual Troop for Make-A-Wish yesterday. Between donations sent through PayPal and Facebook, we raised a total of $730.46! A few Pathfinders may have also donated directly to MAW, and I thank you as well. You all have proven that despite this pandemic we can still do our two favorite things: represent Star Wars AND raise money for good causes. I have sent the Paypal donations we received yesterday to Make-A-Wish. There were also $157 in Facebook donations sent to Make-A-Wish International. Thanks once again Pathfinders for Leading the Way!

@mrrikki -- we've got our CRL model, photos and we're working on the draft CRL. Can we get the LMO blessing on this one? -
BikerScout007's Shoretrooper Captain build
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Shoretrooper WIP
First pass at re-weathering the Sahara Beige parts of my armor. I was never happy with my weathering the first time around. I'm using the production photo of the Shoretrooper Captain as my model, so it's going to be a little lighter than some Shoretroopers out there. Biggest issue I had the first time around was that Kevin shipped me a white armor kit, so many times I would sand the edges to create some damage and get back down to the raw white plastic. This time around I hit it with two coats of black primer. Then the Satin walnut brown paint/primer, and finally the Sahara Beige. I've used acetone and paper towels to recreate the exposed undercoat effect, again, matching to the production Captain photo. I've used a watered down Burnt Umber acrylic to start building up dirt around the raised areas and grooves of the armor, dabbing it up with paper towels. I used Maskol to create the smaller paint chips. So far, so good. I'll be adding more to this soon. -
May the 4th Virtual Troop (addendum)
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Announcements
BUMP! Hey Pathfinders, just a reminder that our May the 4th Virtual troop starts midnight GMT on 4 May 2020 and runs until it turns midnight in your part of the world! I will be creating a post both here and on the forum where you can post a pic of yourself in your Pathfinder kit, your TB/CB/ST ID and (hopefully) whether you made a donation for Make-A-Wish! Details are in the attached post. NOTE: This is in NO WAY an official 501st troop. Detachments cannot authorize troops. Only Garrisons can do that. So this does not count toward your official 501st troop count. Now let's show our Pathfinder pride and demonstrate to the world how committed we are to our mission of sharing the love of Star Wars and raising funds for worthy causes! -
RS helmet lens cracked..help
BikerScout007 replied to spyder918's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
My RS lens fell out after a very hot troop in Palm Springs. I think it got to 115 that day! I scraped out the old hot glue with my thumb nail and just glued the lens back in with fresh hot glue. Its been there ever since.... Going on 4 years. -

You can't just pull it out? Usually with enough force, hot glue will just come off. -
Mountain Trooper costume draft
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Mountain Trooper HQ
Yeah that would work too. I was just thinking snaps to the torso armor because that's how most of us support our faulds. -

BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Mountain Trooper HQ
Yeah I definitely think velcro is the way to go here. At some point it might be better to snap to the torso armor, since the faulds are supporting pouches, but for our purposes velcro should work -

BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Mountain Trooper HQ
It sounds right since the MT fauld looks a wee bit longer than the ST fauld, but as usual, seeing is believing. -

Can you pop a pic of the Black Series figure into Photoshop, blow him up to 6 feet tall and then approximate the sizes off that? That's what I would do -

Yes. The belt is worn on the waist. Like the Scout and Shoretrooper -

Yeah width looks good. But bottom should hit closer to mid thigh. -
Mountain Trooper costume draft
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Mountain Trooper HQ
I need to see them on someone. My Shoretrooper faulds are about 10 inches in height. I imagine the MT ones would be close in size. -
I never have. If you want to keep your bucket looking brand new it may be a consideration, but I like the natural weathering from every day trooping. Not that we do that any more!
-
It was always two pieces, we just didn't have all the info until recently. In the film, the codpiece was connected the vest. The cummerbund, with the pouches sewn to it, was worn over top of the vest and codpiece. Just looking at your old cummerbund, it's too long. It looks like it would go past your belt if you wore your belt just below your pouches. You want your bund to be between 8 and 9 inches in height. All the material below the red line should be removed. Sorry for my ad hoc drawing!
-
On the TD -- on my old SC TD I had additional clips hidden by the TD housing. That way there were four clips holding it to my belt.
-
Think you could talk your wife into making you a new cummerbund altogether? Things have changed a lot in the past few years and the "Long tube top with the bikini bottom codpiece" way of doing things has gone away. Give this a read, along with the other pinned posts in the Soft Goods section

Keep Praetorian EC-17 in the holster.
BikerScout007 replied to Dublin's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Weapons
Magnets are probably the most common way to secure the blaster in the holster. It's easier if the blaster already has a magnet in it, but it's not impossible to insert one. Then you would glue the matching magnet somewhere inside your boot or holster, depending on what gives the best connection. -
Right there in the grip. But you should probably wait to receive it before you put a magnet in the holster. You don't want to have opposing sides repelling each other.

Looking For a Studio Creations Helmet Build Guide
BikerScout007 replied to Falc1's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Well you already found the Kropserkel video and that's the closest thing in construction to the Studio Creations. Unfortunately we don't have a build thread for the SC helmet. I would advise you stick with the KS video, and also pick up some screen accurate bolts for it here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/10270-fs-accurate-tb-helmet-hardware-kit-headband-kit/ -
Mountain Trooper costume draft
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Mountain Trooper HQ
I would say we would prefer no clip as we have no reference for one.
