Cool we don't stop people from doing what they want to do, we are just here to give advice as to what is going to be 501st approvable. The production helmets used decals and that's what we ask for.

Did you try gently heating it with a heat gun?
-
I think you're fine. You're right up to the line.

Walt really needs to be explicit that his kit is for bigger people. If you remove some of the shoulder strap on the front and back that should help bring it up. There'a pic floating around with a test fitting of the Scout armor from 1982 and the person wearing the costume is not wearing the TD, so you can clearly see there is no clip. That leaves Velcro as the only alternative. Like I said, for basic you just need to make sure the clip does not show.
-
Exactly what I did with mine. Carved out a section so that it could still be used to store things while filling out the pouch.
-
For comparison against a screen used. Ignore the holster being on the wrong boot. No idea why that was done for the Costumes book. Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk

The pouches need to sit above the belt. You can fill them with foam. Walt's kit.... looks like it's too big for you. The chest armor is hanging too low. You might need to remove some shoulder strap so that it sits higher. The chest armor should only cover the pectoral area. Trim the shoulder bells as well, they are a bit too long. This will help bring the biceps up. It's not that the bund stripes are "dark", it's that there is enough batting inside the bund that the stitching is more apparent from a distance. The more batting, the more they will stand out. Same is true of the codpiece curb. Also.... looks like your belt is clipped in the back rather than closed with velcro. You need to make sure that clip does not sure. The TD should cover it completely.

Yes. Fill in those gaps and just put a decal there.

The balaclava is needed. Your neck, chin and other parts of your face will be seen without it. Remember, kids are much shorter than we are! I forgot my balaclava at one of my recent troops and I just remember kids saying "I CAN SEE YOUR BEARD!" I bought a cheap balaclava when I first got approved, but I found after a few troops I wanted something that could breathe better and threw down the money for an Under Armor

The MANDALORIAN Biker Scouts

No they aren't Sierras. These were fan-made boots. I'll try to find out the exact brand. @StephTrooper did the soft goods. -
Where does the cod Velcro attach to?
BikerScout007 replied to Diadem's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
It makes sense when you have your gear set up like the originals. With the codpiece attached to the vest (and the strap connecting to the back of the vest), and the cummerbund wore over top, the freedom of movement is much better. And this costume was made for doing stunts. -
Nice job trooper. Glad to see you put your pouches on the correct sides of your bund!

Rivets for belt, tank, holster, and knees
BikerScout007 replied to Igneous's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
You can use the same silver rivets everywhere. I posted up a picture of the ones I've used on my latest build here. You're going to need a rivet gun, but you can get one of those for about $20 from your local hardware store. -
@Chopper? What did you use?

Hey Pathfinders, First, thanks for your continuing support of my tenure as your Detachment Leader. It's been a thrill leading this Detachment and we have a lot of fun stuff coming up in the next term: new CRLs, Star Wars Celebration Anaheim and the 20th Anniversary of the Pathfinder Detachment! Because of changes in elections that passed earlier this year, the new term starts on February 17th. So for the next two weeks we'll be doing some behind the scenes clean up of our forum so we can start fresh for the new term First, the Legion has automated the process of checking active membership against the Detachment database. This helps the Legion decide who is and isn't eligible to participate in Detachment elections every term. In case you didn't know, Detachment membership is contingent on a few things: you're an active, trooping member of the 501st; you have an approved Pathfinder costume; AND you have logged into the forum at least once within the calendar year of the term. If you haven't done this last thing, you will be automatically marked as "Inactive" as far as Detachment membership is concerned and ineligible to vote, even if you have a costume and are not Reserve or Retired. If you ask any Detachment Leader what their least favorite part of the job is and their answer isn't "maintaining the Database", that means they probably haven't been maintaining it! After years and years of neglect, @Dart and I finally buckled down and over several days cleaned it up so we are now in perfect sync with the Legion. I can't thank Dart enough for all his hard work on this. It is not fun going through every non-syncing account and finding out what was wrong with it, but we have finally untangled that mess and are ready to move forward. There were two big issues that were causing the vast majority of non-syncs. The first was that people entered in extra characters in their "501st Designation" field on their profiles. The only thing that should be there is your TK-ID number. No prefixes, just the digits. If you are a 3 or 4 digit, do not enter any leading zeroes. Just the four or three digits that were assigned to you. We've gone through and cleaned all that up. You're welcome Second -- we have too many groups! This set up was fine when we just had two costumes, but now that we have more costumes (with more on the way!), it's getting to the point where it's going to be impossible to give every costume its own badge and forum grouping. So going forward, all approved Pathfinders will be put into a group called "Pathfinders" and will get a badge reflecting the Detachment as a whole. BUT -- we still want you to be able to show off what costume you have on your forum profile. If you go to Edit your profile now, you will see a new feature: "Approved Pathfinder Kits". There you can check off which Detachment costumes you have and these will display on your forum profile (you can look at the info in my post as an example). This also allows you to show when you have more than one Pathfinder costume, something we weren't able to do before with the old badges. This process will take some time and will happen over the next few weeks. Please reach out to me, @Dart or @Shortstack if you have any questions. Whew! Now second, because our domain has come up for annual renewal, I've decided to transfer our domain to the same company that hosts our website (HostGator) so that everything is in one neat place. There may be some brief forum outages while the transfer is finalized, so please be patient! If you need to reach Command, you can always find us via the Detachment's Facebook page. Tip of the Lance! Howdy Logan! Best place to start is our Shoretrooper armory: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/119-the-shoretrooper-armory/ The Shoretrooper HQ has info on vendors, parts and paints: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/116-shoretrooper-hq/ The WIPs show other folks' builds so you can get some ideas for your own: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/129-shoretrooper-wip/ And finally we have the best Shoretrooper Armory team around: @TK8271 Rogue Trooper, @ScaryGuy and @KOtrooper can all be contacted about any questions you may have. Best of luck!

Hey Pathfinders! You asked for it, you got it! The black duffel bag seen in Return of the Jedi (the scene where Han Solo attempts to sneak up on a Biker Scout before the speeder bike chase) has now been added to the CRL! https://origin-wiki.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TB_Scout_trooper

Okay folks, the bag is live!
-
Quick draft: Black smooth, shiny material (Nylon, polyester, leather, etc.) Cylindrical-shaped with circular ends. Approximately 20 inches long and 8 inches wide. Black fabric straps attached to the bag with small metallic silver discs (rivets, Chicago screws, etc.) One black tri-glide buckle on each strap. Stuffed so that the shape of the bag is apparent.
-
Those were shots that were flipped in the film for editing purposes. They've caused us no small amount of grief over the years!
-
Most important thing to have when drafting the CRL is a completed costume. A CRL cannot be approved until we have a costume that we can photograph. Fortunately, we are working with @Tarrif on that. He's very close to completing his build. At which point we'll be able to get photos, do the final tweaks on the language and then submit to the LMO team. And we also happen to have the best LMO in the biz to help us sail smoothly through that process.

The MANDALORIAN Biker Scouts
BikerScout007 replied to Rosso's topic in Scout Trooper: "The Mandalorian" HQ
No idea why they dressed the mannequin like that for the Costumes book. The right boot appears to have holes in it where a holster used to be but for some reason this one is left handed. Which I would love! Hardest thing about being a Scout for me is pretending to be right handed!
