  1. I'm also not convinced that picture shows two zipties. Every other picture I've seen where you can see a ziptie it is only one. However, this is the blue screen scout and almost every exception to the rules has been found during the speeder bike chase. Why? Because these were the very last things shot for the movie and the Scout costumes were probably held together with bubble gum at this point.
  2. Of course! The whole point of the ART is to get non-Pathfinders and make them Pathfinders. Think of the ART as an extension of the Detachment. We have hundreds of non-501st members in this Forum. Those people are just as welcome to join an ART
  3. Don't have an answer for your first question, unfortunately. I've had about 4 bunds at this point because I just get a new one made when I'm unhappy with my current one. You can probably hide most of the length in the chest armor, but it seems like it would pop out from under the belt at some point. But....this won't be an issue if you aren't going for Lancer. Taking in the suit....you could cut the seam down the side with a stitch ripper and then turn it inside out and sew back together. That's not too tough. You could do the arms and legs the same way. And if it's not the neatest job in the world, the armor, vest and bund should help cover up the rough bits! But hey, congrats on the weight loss! Your health is more important than anything.
  4. While you are at it, make it shorter too. 8-9 inches is an ideal bund height.
  5. I just think the costume should look like the comic book references. But this wouldn't be the first time the 501st created a character for a CRL. Snow scout is pretty much the same thing.
  6. So the only actual Black Biker Scout is the toy? When was that released? That doesn't seem to reach the level of "3 sources" that a costume requires to have a CRL made for it. Even the White Kashyyyk has more sources than that!
  7. Only the original will do
  8. The color seems a bit off too. But the heel definitely needs all those cuts. Seems like a lot of work to make it look right when a pair of $20 hiking boots from Walmart would give you a better starting point. It's really not that tough to do. I bought a hot knife at Michael's and that thing cut through the sole like warm butter
  9. Where you post largely depends on what costume you are building. If you are doing a Return of the Jedi Biker Scout, you are going to want to post in the appropriate forums under The Biker Scout Armory. There are some blank forums for the Rebels: Biker Scout Armory, but that's because those were setup yesterday and it's a brand new costume.
  10. Are there actual Shadow Scout pics where it is just a black biker scout without any other differences? Because I have never seen one. Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
  11. Sweet, I will put those changes in. And feel free to add me to the FB group. Kashy and Rebel Scout do not have Level 2 yet!
  12. Not what it says here, my dude..... http://starwars.wiki.../Storm_commando "The storm commandos, also known as Imperial commandos or shadow scouts, were the Special forces of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. One task for storm commandos was to instigate uprisings on enemy systems or to subdue insurrections on Imperial-held worlds. They also served as second-wave attackers in the battlefield, tasked with holding territory won by the first wave." I've never seen a picture from the EU that just shows a Biker Scout colored black without other changes to the armor and boots as well. But if you have one, let's see it!

  14. Pouch and under the chest are the two most popular places to put the speaker. If you just reinforce your bund and pouches with velcro, it should hold pretty well
  15. That is correct! Most of Spec Ops' costumes are from the Expanded Universe, so comics, books and video games. The Storm Commando isn't exactly just a biker scout colored black but that's what their CRL calls for.
  16. You would have to check Spec Ops to be sure. I know the vest is not a requirement http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18962
  17. I believe glue was how it was done in the film, so you are in great company. I originally did it that way but switched to Velcro when I built my Strider kit. Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
  18. Hey Scouts I'm pleased to see more and more Scouts using ziptie T-straps on their builds. We're not TKs! We always do things better! With that in mind, here's the way I do it. It may not work for everyone, but I have found this is the way that has worked best for me so far. I want to thank Lancer Scout Justin "MrPoopie" for help with this. So here's what you're going to need: 2 Shoulder bells 6 Ziptie anchors 6 Zipties (the length doesn't matter because they will be cut down, but 8 inch minimum should be fine) 1/2 inch elastic strap (as called for in the Lancer CRL. I used 1/4 inch here) Industrial strength velcro. Seriously, if your velcro doesn't hold a fire extinguisher to the wall, get something else. Your shoulders go through a lot of wear and tear during a troop if you do more than just stand around. And who wants to stand around? Like I said above, we're not TKs! 1. measure a segment of 1/2 inch elastic around your arm. Make sure you are wearing your vest. You want it tight but not so tight that your shoulder bell doesn't "float". Stitch, knot or glue it into a loop, then affix it to a ziptie anchor with 1 ziptie. Cut off the excess and then stick the ziptie anchor into the bell, closer to the center than the edge: 2. Loop another ziptie around another anchor and then cut off enough to leave about 4 inches of ziptie, measuring from the edge of the anchor. Then affix the ziptie anchor to the bell so that it leaves about an inch and a half of ziptie protruding from the top of the bell: 3. So at this point, what you have should look like this: 4. On your third ziptie anchor, remove the plastic covering the sticky end and cut out a square of industrial velcro loop to cover the entire end. 5. Place the ziptie anchor, velcro facing up, around the ziptie that will serve as the T-bridge to the bell. 6. Take your last ziptie and run it down the other end of your ziptie bridge until it clicks into place. That way you know it is locked 7. Cut off the excess of the third ziptie, leaving only the cap to act as a stopper 8. Your completed Shoulder bell should look like this: 9. Take two strips of industrial velcro hook, peel off the plastic covering the sticky backs, and affix it to the inside of your shoulder bridges: 10. Affix the loop on the ziptie bridge to the hook on the chest armor and your bells are now in place! The bells will stay there forever if you leave them, but if you need to take them off for any reason, it is easy to do so. I hope this helps! Scout or Die!
  19. Scouts helping Scouts! Well done
  20. If you have any specific questions about kits, post up your concerns in the appropriate Forum. We've got a lot of great Armorers on the board that will jump in with fast answers!
  21. Welcome to the Pathfinders Forum! Please read up in the Biker Scout Armory to start your research and post questions http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showforum=3 What part is easiest to get started on depends on your skill level. If you can sew and make the soft goods yourself, you can get started on that while you wait for your helmet and armor kits to come in. If not, then it really depends on whom you buy from and who ships you your stuff first. Some vendors have less wait time than others. A lot of folks start with gloves because Wampa Wear usually has them ready in stock.
  22. Be sure your troopers stay hydrated and don't pass out from exhaustion Be sure if any bits fall off their costumes, you scoop them up and try to get them back on Be sure kids don't try to steal thermal detonators and holstered weapons Be prepared to be handed people's phones a lot to take pictures of them with the troopers!
  23. As long as it looks correct from the outside, we don't concern ourselves with how it was done on the inside! On my first bucket, a KS, I took off their furniture pad bolts and just glued painted aluminum discs in their place!
