  1. Believe me, if it were up to me, the Detachments would approve the costumes, not the Garrisons....but that's a battle for another day. The ARTs were created to give the Detachment more of a face in the Garrison and pick up the "Pathfinder-curious" that have a better time learning in a group setting than reading a forum. Since starting Scout Team Six in 2015, the number of Scouts in my Garrison has boomed. And a lot of those folks also have gone onto become Lancers. Now would I prefer if everyone came to the Forum? Of course! But we have to deal with the world the way that it is, not the way we wish it was. I hope to see both of you guys heavily involved in ARTs soon!
  2. Unfortunately a lot of this is the case. The Detachment is here to create the costume guidelines and give build help, but the Garrison does the approving and really everything is done through them as far as your membership in the Legion. Plenty of folks sign up for the Detachment, get approved, and never come back. Some never sign up at all. (But they all sure as heck show up for a good merch run!) I'm grateful to everyone that sticks around here to improve their costume or to help others. The ARTs are, as Ken said, meant to be a local mentor program. To promote the brand, hold armor parties, and keep folks clued in to what's happening with the Detachment. I don't know how others do it, but Scout Team Six requires folks that join to also join the Forum.
  3. Sweet! The Rebels Scout family is growing
  4. I think there's some confusion here ARTs are like branch offices of the Detachment in each Garrison. They aren't controlled by the Garrisons.
  5. Sweet! Just let me know
  6. Do you want to step in and take the lead?
  7. Well done, Ken!
  8. There are quite a few Shoretrooper armor printing threads in the forum. Here is one, for example http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18820
  9. Not sure why snaps never really made it over, but if I had to guess it would be because the Scout is meant to be a more active, mobile and adjustable costume and snaps might keep things a little too rigid. But as long as the outside appearance looks the same, use snaps to your heart's content!
  10. I hear Jim Tripon was making a Praetorian guard, but I think the CRL is still being hashed out. But welcome to the forum! We are here to help Not familiar with HQarmours, I'd have to take a look at it. Jim Tripon, BSP, 850 and Imperial Depot also make Shoretrooper kits
  11. Happy Monday, Pathfinders! With the herculean efforts of Mr. Steve Leahy, we now have Admin control over the forum. Not all issues have been resolved and some steps will need to be taken in the coming weeks to ensure we have full control over everything, but we are 90% of the way there. Steve will be temporarily joining us as Webmaster to help smooth things over. So give him a big round of applause! He will also accept payment in Tiki drinks, as I found out on Saturday night!
  12. This area is fine to post in! Maybe you can continue to use this thread to show us your build progress! The most common way to attach straps to the hard plastic is with velcro. Sewing the velcro hook to the strap and then affixing velcro loop with sticky tape on the back of it to the inside of the armor. I actually hot glued my straps to my armor, so that's another way to do it. The slits in my armor pieces were cut very thin so they would do a good job of holding the strap, and the glue does the rest!
  13. Can you use a photo hosting site like postimg.org?
  14. Love it! thanks for posting this
  15. Congratulations! We'll get you updated as soon as we can. In the meantime, can you please update your forum profile?
  16. Hey Pathfinders! We are really excited to bring you the long-awaited Logo t-shirt run. One of my long-time goals was to have an ongoing shirt run that wasn't limited to just a few weeks so members wouldn't feel like they had missed out if they didn't get their order in on time. Thankfully, our awesome Merch Officer came through and we now have an Ongoing run! http://forum.bikersc...showtopic=18919 Now these shirts are only for 501st members, but due to our current site problems, we are having issues verifying and upgrading accounts. If you haven't been able to at least get upgraded to 501st member status, you won't be able to see the thread on this site. Therefore, we have set up a thread on the 501st.com forum for purchases as well https://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=98617 If you are a 501st member, but don't have 501st or Pathfinder status here yet, head on over there to make your purchase. And if you aren't a 501st member yet -- don't worry. This run is ONGOING! That means get your costume done, get approved and then get a shirt!
  17. Glad to see you over here, James! We are having issues with the site right now and aren't able to upgrade accounts at this time. If you are looking for the shirt run, it is also posted on the 501st page!
  18. Hello to all Pathfinders and prospective Pathfinders! Today is the first day of the new term. I want to thank you for entrusting me with leading this Detachment for the next year. I will do my best to continue making this the best Detachment in the Legion. To get down to brass tacks, in case you didn't know, we lost our dear XO and webmaster, Jim Griffin, this past January. It was a stunning blow to say the least. I had chatted with him only days before and just found it hard to believe that someone could be taken so quickly when everything seemed fine. Jim was in the middle of site maintenance at the time of his passing and unfortunately, certain privileges were temporarily taken away from us that we have not yet been able to restore. Nor have we been able to access Jim's computer so far. Marcel, our long-time Detachment Leader and our Webmaster Cheyenne have been working with Jim's family to try to resolve this situation on that end. Steve Leahy, former Spec Ops DL, has been working with the server company to get us access. Why Steve? Because Jim was webmaster for both us and Spec Ops and we share a server with them. While strides have been made, we do not yet have full access to either this forum or the Facebook page. So if you are wondering, "why haven't I been made a full Pathfinder?", "why haven't I received my trooping award?" or "why hasn't my account been verified yet?" this is why. You'll notice I don't have the Detachment Leader tag yet. It's all part of the same issue, one which we are diligently working on and hope to have resolved soon. In the meantime, we are open for business and will continue to offer help to any and all who managed to slip in the door before we lost the ability to verify accounts. For you folks still waiting to be verified, I ask for your patience while we work through this, and please feel free to read through our forums even if you can't post just yet. Though I can't assign him his badge at this time, Andry Bobyk ("Dart") is now our Detachment XO. Feel free to reach out to either one of us if you have any further questions. Scout or Die Mickey PS: It's not all doom and gloom. We got a great merch run coming up, so stay tuned!
  19. that is a thing of beauty
  20. The CRL is a living, breathing document and has always been updated when new discoveries are made. The blasters are a bit trickier because there are so few suppliers of them, but with 3d printing it's been easier to make new ones than ever.
  21. I've got another source for you: https://www.facebook.com/TK1389Props/
  22. Yeah I suspect they used some sort of gray/beige cord and didn't bother painting it
  23. Any 16 gauge extension cord should do. Maybe find one in white so it's easier to paint? https://www.amazon.com/GE-12-Feet-Indoor-Extension-51954/dp/B00178HJ6C/ref=sr_1_4?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1519743873&sr=1-4&keywords=white+extension+cord
  24. I agree with this. There was most likely a blaster made for closeups. I doubt many blasters were made for the film at all, since we hardly see any scouts using them. And if Lucas thought he could save $76.43 by only having 2 blasters made, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
