  1. The Lancer/Vanguard wall is a little stuck right now in issues dealing with Jim's passing. We are going to work that out soon though! I am thinking more of a Level 2 wall for all Pathfinder costumes rather than walls for each costume. That could get a little unwieldy given enough costumes.
  2. I think it's called "wheat".
  3. Yes we are all scouring ebay trying to get a pair I'm not saying you need those exact boots, I'm just saying the originals were a little more orange in color. If the CRL says tan, and you used tan, you should be fine. The GML will see that and will have to agree. But that means we are going to have to come up with a better description for the boot color, because tan isn't quite right!
  4. The original boots seem to have a bit more of an orange hue to them http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?app=gallery&image=2509
  5. On behalf of all of us here at the Detachment, it pleases me to congratulate Paul "Spudley7" Moore, ST-91694, on achieving the rank of Vanguard! Great work on your kit, Paul. Let's all give him a hand!
  6. I made this for you guys. Hope it helps! http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=19259
  7. Butt flap Most of us just use a suede pigskin for the patches. Tandy Leather is a good supplier of this. A 7-10ft sq piece is more than enough. My suede "butt flap" patch is roughly square, about 13.5x12.5. I'm 6'0 and 180lbs, so this may vary on your size. The easiest place to attach is along the seam of the elastic band that goes around the waist of the suit. And here is the finished product! I hope this helps! I will add to this thread as necessary
  8. Riding patches Here's the shape for my riding patches. I did not make this suit. My patches go up the front quite a bit, up and over the bottom zipper. The distance from the seam of the crotch to the bottom of the patch is 9.5 inches. Your mileage may vary. These patches end about 2-3 inches above my knee armor. The riding patches were done in 4 parts, with a front and back for each side. As far as I know, this is how it was done in the film. This picture shows a good view of the front left patch (on the bottom of the pic). The best way to sew these on is to open the outside seam of the leg and lay the leg flat. Pin your suede patch into position and sew with a leather needle. When you've done both patches and the thigh straps, you can sew the leg up and take in any bagginess in the undersuit legs. This pic shows the left rear patch. The thigh straps should "point" at the crotch of the suit. As you can see here, the strap is about one foot above the knee
  9. Just to get some of this stuff into one thread, here is a few tips and tricks for doing the undersuit mods, particularly if you have a Red Kap, but this should work for most suits! Open Collar I've removed the Mandarin collar how-to, since we are moving away from that. For how to wear the Open Collar -- please watch this:
  10. What I do is cut off one of the butt pockets to use as material to create the mandarin collar flap. You flip the collar up, then use the material from the pocket to bridge the gap in the front of your neck. I can post some pics later!
  11. I'm measuring to just before my knee starts. But really.... you don't have to get that crazy about it. Just don't make it too long and dont make it too short.
  12. It's tough to nail down because knee armor slides around so much while you are wearing it. I'd say when you are measuring, have the riding patch stop above your actual knee. So for me, measuring from the seam of the crotch to above my knee, that would be 12 inches. Your mileage may vary. The CRL pic was modeled after the Costumes book Scout: Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk

  14. If you have any specific questions, post 'em up and we'll answer the best we can!
  15. There are a few threads in this forum that show bits and pieces of it, but not one that shows the whole thing from beginning to end. But this is something I plan to remedy This one has some good pics and tidbits in it: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18483
  16. Welcome! Your input is really appreciated.
  17. Thanks for the edits, guys! I will incorporate them. Just FYI, a lot of this is filler language I took from other CRLs, so some of it won't be accurate. But I think it's a lot easier to revise pre-existing language than it is to try to write something from scratch.
  18. Change has been made, thanks!
  19. Any white gloss paint should do. In the film, the buckets were painted Ferrari white but the armor wasn't painted. Just raw ABS. But as was said above, the weathering hides a lot.
  20. Yeah that pattern is incorrect based on newer measurements. A lot of people have used it in the past, which is why we have so many Scouts with pouches that are too large. Try the 6x5x2 size instead. I think you'll see it's a better result
  21. Big thing that jumps out at me is that the pouches are too big, and because of that your bund is very long and your belt sits low. check this thread out http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=19200 Ken touched on this above, but I wanted to repeat it because I think that is your top issue. Everything else looks pretty good with some adjustment. Once you get proper sized pouches, I think you'll find your stuff lining up better with the CRL model
  22. I think the real question is "who doesn't?" And as far as I know it's just SC that doesn't. They use a sticker instead. But if you are going for Lancer you need the earholes cut out.
  23. Awesome! Thanks for this
  24. Yeah I was looking at another picture today and I agree! Either covered with vinyl or just painted white.
  25. It'll be nice to go somewhere new for a change. I'm looking forward to it.
