  1. I don't want want to cut it up either- I have the 3M bolts that I could get to work with my SC ( well not as flushed I wanted them ) so I will take your approach. Thanks!
  2. I didn't take mine apart yet but is there a reason you didn't use the whole bolt Griffin ( not judging your method, just curious) ?
  3. No prob! I think some people even switch to elastic as well for the laces
  4. Mine is one piece and honestly it is usually hot when I have worn it so I haven't had to make and bathroom stops. However I tried on my 2 piece boba fett flight suit and love it and will be seeing if I can have one made on black. Super light weight and easy to wear. I have a Redcap suit I bought and the material just seems way thicker than my Cucblack one
  5. I started my laces up 2 holes and switched to flat ones .. Stretched 3 times and glued them up
  6. I will take some top and underside shots later as well as from behind so you can see the size differences better
  7. Quick shot cause I have to go to a wedding soon. And don't mind the Texas Chainsaw massacre walls- old house doing plaster work. Altmanns is next to the speaker and SC is next to it. The Altmanns is plenty sturdy, is larger and looks awesome. Mine has the ears cut already and black inside. I am going to put trooperbay decals on it ( correct colors) and the correct bolts on as well. I like the lense in the SC better so I am going to replace that as well. It also needs padding on the inside to make it wearable /stable on your head. All those things aren't meant to be a slight to to the helmet - just what it needs to be a troopable/501st piece. Took a few weeks to get which was well worth it. Very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone. That being said there is nothing wrong with an SC for the $ . Until I got this one I was very pleased with it and as a whole my SC Helmet/armor got tons of compliments from people at the show I went to last weekend. It is easy to get wrapped up in 100% accuracy issues here- because that is what many stride for since it is our hobby. However when you wear it out, 98% of the world is going to love it regardless of wether it is 1mm too high or the shading is off a bit. While I stride to make mine look as best as I can all I care about is that it looks good, will pass basic 501st and people enjoy it when they see it. But that is just me.
  8. Just got my Altmanns today and love it . If you need pics/measurements or whatever let me know . It is worth the $ - all I am changing on it is the lense, bolts and stickers since I am going to wear it
  9. Just wanted to make a post to say this thing is awesome. Soooo light.
  10. I have never heard anyone who order one post here that it didn't come with the piece you are describing ..
  11. I need to add a pad to the front of my helmet to position it better. Right now it rests on my nose- I have a piece of foam holding it off my nose as a quick fix
  12. If getting a Redkap be careful with the sizing- I would recommend an " L" model as I just got a regular ( 5'11) and it is too tight. And as an aside - I just got my Boba Fett flight suit which is a 2 piece design and that thing is way more comfortable than my scout. I want to take it to someone and see if they can make me a black one.
  13. It may be an issue with terminology. Some people refer to the part that is like the bill of a hat at the visor I think. I would refer to it as the black/green lense and see if that helps. I would think it should come with one
  14. I added 2 quick snaps to my bund and the flightsuit ( for today since it was 90)... They worked great !! I was worried that it would tear the suit without being reinforced. However even tho I had positioned the crotch correctly it still rode up. I was going to put these small fabric Velcro things on the pouches/bund to hold them but couldn't find them so the pouches had to be crooked.

    Lancers

Under costume Standards there is a link for the 501st visual reference. Lancer would be considered the Level 2 http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TB_Scout_trooper
  16. I don't think too many people here have NI helmets but maybe I'm wrong.... Here is their website. I don't have one of their helmets nor am I saying they are good or bad.. http://www.newimage58.co.uk/biker%20v2.html
  17. And your suit looks awesome Obey wann!
  18. I should have my Altmanns in a few days and I will take pics of it next to the SC for reference
  19. Which is the proper way to wear it - vest under bund or vest over bund?
  20. How hard is the material? May be able to use some strong scissors. If is really hard you could drill holes all around the shape ( on the outside of the line ) and then cut/break pieces off and then sand/dremel the edges
  21. Thanks! This will be my spare as soon as the Altmanns gets here. I have this one shoved down so it rests on my head and the padding just keeps it from moving front to back. I guess how your face is structured chin wise can affect it as well. If I yawned my chin would prob poke out the bottom
  22. And please ignore the issues with how the armor is fitting ... After 6 miles of walking in upper 80 degree humid weather I was beat and stuff had shifted all around. Was my first time wearing it all out
  23. I made a post about the sizing of SC helmets with measurements in it. I don't think circumference wise you would have a issue with an SC helmet
  24. I think my head is fairly large height wise ... I took a piece of string from my chin to pretty much the top of my head and it was 9". Measured around my forehead and that was 23". I can get into my SC helmet with just lifting the visor a tiny bit since I try and Velcro the front down. I have a fairly large nose as well. I can fit into the Helmet with ease and don't think it looks too bad. Here are some pics of my Helmet with measurements of the depth and width. Also a pic of it on me.. If anyone needs a pic of my actual head I guess I could put that up too. I would hate to see people pass on a nice helmet for the $ thinking it wouldn't fit. I am waiting on my Altmann's to get here and will post comparison photos because I think it will def be a better helmet but is more $. Hope it helps.
  25. That looks kinda thick. I would try a coping saw as suggested above. Looks too thick for an xacto. Coping saws are $8 at Lowes and would allow you to make smooth cuts. As far as bending it , I heated my SC on up with a hair dryer and squeezed it gently passed the shape I wanted it to to be and let it spring back , did it again and again until it held that shape
