Any advice on what kind to buy? Want to get one that will be able to be used on the vinyl and Velcro - I have never sewed before but want to learn so I can make my own stuff. The ones at Joann Fabrics range from $100-$2500.

Need reliable source for jumpsuit and flak vest

I believe you will get it... Just will take time. And it is nice stuff so when it gets there you will like it. Here is my tracking info- I was told it shipped March 28. Obviously US customs doesn't seem to be the issue if the tracking time line is correct -

You won't get much empathy isn't regards to purchasing issues from CB here- people will tell you to be patient and blame you when there is an issue for some reason. I could post the time line of my order for you - including a completely wrong tracking # which was then changed to one that works several weeks later. I was told that my stuff shipped a certain day - which I don't believe but don't know how to read the shipping label on the package. When I was given my new tracking # the package arrived shortly there after. Nothing fits- the suit is tight from crotch to shoulder. The vest won't close in the back cause it is too tight. The bund is too loose. I paid a professional to measure me but it has been pointed out that they could have messed up all the measurements. Forums tend to be very protective of their vendors, which I get, but when there are repeated issues you would think people would care. Sadly, I know for a fact that several other members here have gone thru the same exact issues with shipping and fit. In all fairness to CB - I didn't bother to complain nor try and get it fixed. I don't have the desire to deal with shipping the stuff back and hoping to get it back before the end of summer. I will pay a tailor here to fix all the pieces. I really was excited to get this stuff and really have no issue with it cause that is the risk of buying clothes on the internet I guess. The quality is there - there is just something being lost in the sizing and communication. At least that was my experience Obviously plenty of people have had positive experiences based on posts here. Maybe my measurements were off, I may just have the guy who is going to fix my stuff check them out. Compared to a redKap the material he uses does feel more comfortable/lighter. -
Major progress today! I got belt clips haha.

Thanks! I am pretty sure I am gonna get the MLC v3 now. As long as I can finish stuff up for NY Comic Con I will be content.
-
I have an SC I am doing now. When I ordered my stuff my goal was to have it done for June so the SC allowed me to have it done in time since the MLC seems to have a bit of a wait time. There is nothing wrong with the SC I just would like a heavier duty one. I can wait for the MLC now I guess but was just curious about the LW since it receives a lot of praise ( and rightfully so) , just stinks you can't actually buy one.
-
Since I have plenty of time to wait now till my suit is done The wait to get a fiberglass helmet isn't an issue. Painting is also not an issue. Is there only one place to get an MLC ( already have an email from what I think is the direct person) ? LW is mentioned as being one of the best but is there any way to actually buy one??

Review of the NI Scout Trooper Helmet V2

Thanks ! I think it looks nice. -
I haven't put my visor in place yet but I did heat it with a hair dryer and shaped it to the visor - basically just squeezed it while heating the center where I was bending it and then let it cool while holding it.

Does the visor slant down to the right or is that just a picture issue? -
Saw these on a customer at work yesterday... The lighter color strip isn't really a different color in person
-
While I am far from an expert I think the 2 tone soles will be an issue and they are insulated which my be kinda hot. Plus they are pretty expensive ( although I would like to pick a comfortable pair also)
-
Thanks NegativeEleven. That is exactly what I was thinking. I was going to try and get the visor hole the same size as the smaller round hole so that sits flush and then square off the hole on the faceplate ( assuming that the visor will be glued to the faceplate) and then just have the stud go thru the back of the helmet piece. The bolts supplied with the SC helmet actually fit pretty flush and I prob should have used them and just painted them gray. The indent on the SC helmet is not as deep/perfectly rounded off. I apologize for the non stop questions. I have no problem trying different stuff and honesty would like to learn or practice stuff on my own- issue is I want this done for Mid June and if I mess it up too bad I can't just run to the store and buy new parts as we all know.
-
Since there is the smaller circle base at the base of the square I will need to make the hole in the visor that size to make it flush. If I don't it will hold the flat head of the bolt out from the indent in the visor
-
Thanks, figured it had to be flush but the bolts that came with the SC kit are different than the 3M bolts... I will just get them flush and figure out the inside part afterwards.
-
Should the bolt go all the way thru ( with the circular base so it sits flush and then lock into the face plate with the square part and then the threaded portion just go thru the back part of the helmet? Without cutting the visor hole big enough to accept the circular base it won't sit flush.

Lining all the parts up . The one side doesn't line up ( face in too far and back of helmet sticks out as a result). I will get the drilling done based on making all the lines line up and shim it as necessary I guess. Widen the visor hole at the top too. The left side of the visor upper bill was cut too thin so I also tried to even it out a bit but don't want to take off to much and make the whole thing to thin ...
-
Looks nice ... Maybe starting the laces one notch higher with thinner laces may be an options too. I may get a pair to try since they are so cheap.
-
I just posted a pic of them as potential base ones ... Nice to see them in progress. Is the dog bone going to cover all the laces?
-
Also saw these in a Harley Davidson dealer but at $120 might be a bit much

Been trying to find a decent pair of donor boots. Pretty much only found some at Payless... Then stumbled upon Kmarts site ( haven't been in one for years) and may have to swing by to check some out. Thoughts?
-
Actually I take that back. The part of the instructions with step by step pictures doesn't say anything about gluing the visor but the front page that looks like a check list does. Also some discrepancies in the hole sizes to be drilled for the hinge bolts. Looks like I will be winging it and hope for the best
-
I am going to try and work on mine tonight. Did you get instructions with your helmet? Mine came with some... And now that I am reading them it doesn't say anything about gluing the faceplate and visor ( white part not the lense) together. I thought they had to be glued. I am also not too clear on riveting the lense clip and the lense together and still having a flush fit with the front of the mask but haven't mocked that part up yet .
-
I am going to work on the bolts this week ... Yard work, which I hate , has been sucking up my time and energy. Also want to tint the visor to get that ready to install. Just from playing with it, I am thinking I may have to put Velcro straps in to keep it closed/flush fitting.

Thanks for all the input! I will extend the bottom out a bit.
