Congratulations. -
Congratulations

Wow those look really good !
-
Is that CB ABS or Fiberglass?
-
I can't tell from your photos but be cautious of making them too tight. Look at your side profile and make sure the profile of your hiking boots aren't showing too much. My first attempt I made them too tight.
-
Congrats! Great job! You really nailed it. From the soft goods to the weathering. It looks very accurate.
-
I agree with the softer edges. i feel like I should remake the one on the right with twill. Possible taking off an inch of width at the top. The fabric bunches at the edge of the arch causing little points to push out. The points are exaggerated when using thicker fabric like duck cloth. I like the shape of the left one but it seems too large. There is 1/8 rubber under the arch. It looks good but may be too heavy. It wants to pull straight down. I think I'll try plastic in the next one. It's sometimes hard to remember that I have a wider and longer torso than the screen scouts making the exact shape difficult.
-
I appreciate the input. The right one is made out of duck cloth. That seemed to give it sharper edges. The other two are twill.
-
Okay I made new pouches and three cod pieces. They are the exact same shape with different arch placement. It's crazy how different the look. Thoughts?
-
Here it is with Velcro sewed on the cod and a mock up of the new pouch. The pouch is the same height but 1.5 inches narrower. This stuff holds its shape pretty good for now when moving.
-
Thank you. Your thread was very helpful.
-
Like that but the heavyweight. On the same page is the 1/4 inch sew in stabilizer that you could use for foam.
-
I got the foam and iron on stabilizer at wal-mart. You buy it by the foot like fabric. They also have white duck cloth and another thick canvas that I used on my bund.
-
Thx brother. Once again... I don't know if I love or hate the ST6 ART It did get me motivated to do some upgrading.
-
Thx. No they are not there because I plan to use this foam with different fabric.
-
Thoughts on this mock up? Stuffed with 1/4 foam stabilizer and a rigid iron on stabilizer. Shout out to Strider for the idea. It's made of muslin because that's all I had on hand. It's also pinned with the wrong size Velcro which I am holding in the back. I have cut out 6 different templates with file folders until I got this one. Almost 8 inches in height are hidden behind the bund for adjustments. New pouches are next. I think these are about an inch and a half too wide. Apologies for the upward camera angle. I used the timer on top of a chair.

Oh wear gloves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I brushed a light coat of resin onto the plastic then placed resin soaked fiberglass. Dab the glass with a disposable paint brush to get The air bubbles out. There is no way it's peeling off. I taped the front so that I didn't get any drops of resin on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That looks great. I like the strap on the outside too. How thick is the foam that you used?
-
Yes. Three layers on the back and it feels stronger than when it was new.
-
Your build looks great! Congrats!
-
That doesn't seem approvals to me. You could also trim some sticky back Velcro to the front of the trigger guard and the other side in your holster. Nobody will even see the Velcro. It hides in plain site.

The Aren't You A Little Sort For A...Biker Scout (WIP)
Bobik96 replied to StoutScout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Yep. Mine are about three inches above my ankle with elastic stirrups. Thx for the tutorial. Those are always helpful. -
Lol no kidding. Those suits only had to last a few weeks. We put ours on and take them of so often I question some zip ties endurance.
-
That and they didn't have adhesive backed Velcro in the 80s.
