I was just looking for some 3 /34" modding tips and look what I've found during my quest. http://www.thecustomalliance.com/allen/default.asp I think it came out pretty well considering it must be almost completely customized.

Looking forward to the pictures and I hope the scales are right so you don't have to alter too much.

The Acrylikhan Armor Project Files

Can you enlighten me - What chronicles and ehat is different there regarding the scout? One thing you have to keep in mind is that especially the scout costume is cool looking because the whole pieces in black and white are extremely well composed. It is a hard part to create one piece without seeing it in the context. I compiled a selction of screenshots to help you a bit but seriouyl without a torso and helmet to balance out the proportions it is a hard task. -
Mike, will the knee greeblies be removable via screws or something or will they become integrated into the layers of fiberglas and resin?
-
Ah, now I see where this came from. That was my fault then because I missed out doing the check on symetrics. That happens when you do things in a hush. So sorry Mike for causing this misconception. And you are right about the different knees of the clone aspects. Personally I don't like it as I think of it as standardized items in a logical military equipment system but it's true. Another apology for missing out on your explanation - I should have read more carefully.

Mike, notice the recessed lines of the knee armor. Like the scout knee pieces the barc knees are segmented just with very thin gaps compared to the scout. The slots of the knee greeblie might apear different but I don't think that is intended by design. In case it is texture (lowpoly models make use of a lot of texture and bumpmaps to fake 3D) it might get warped a bit during animation as we've seen with the strapping on the gloves in another render. CGI images have always be treated carefully and thinking of the mass scenes that had to be shot and rendered I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't take high poly models rather than more economic lowpoly models. Just a thought to reconsider. Well anyways - nice work

It's my impression that contrary to the TK shoulders the scout shoulder is more squarish than rectangular. Check proportions on the references - I think it could be a tad broader. But it's difficult to see on photographs due to lens warp. -
Congrats Mike - you've made it and you deserve it. Looking forward to a hardcore pic to modify for the gallery

Remember the loop & hook system I had in mind is completely made up. It might be that it doesn't work and/or it is simply not necessary or another way system could be better. It was just a spontaneous idea arising when doing the illustrations.

Hmm, I've been to local stores and they all got them - even in the right length. Maybe a bit too muhc circumferance but I think they work. You can mail MC if he can send you one maybe - I know he is offering the correct hoses with his armor. Maybe he is so kind and helps out. -
Just undersuit. The vest/bund thing is a seperate piece and just one colour (tan/olive)

Here is what I have on the knees: I don'T have the time to explain atm but I will do later when I'm returning home. For this momentn I hope the pictures speak for themselves:

Hi, this what I think about it. The grey spot is there but I think it's too solid in tone to be some sort of type. As for the detail on the tank I think it's a recessed line. Like the socuts you would expect that the tank would have either a storage or maintenance hatch which should be indicated by these lines. Of course it also could be just a decoration to break up the monotone look of the back. Here in EP III the line is very thin and weather it is texture or bumpmap - I think it was meant to be recessed of some sort.
-
Sure - and given the fact the gloves doesn't exist this one is a nice find indeed . Though just one pad on the back instead of two Btw. Knee sketches need some time - this weekend I have to lay a new floor in my new flat. So I guess mid of next week .... References are already prepared though.
-
Though they're a probably a tempting alternative I'd rather prefer to go the custom route. It is extrememly diffcult to get a glove properly resembling those CGI ones. My gripes are the material which doesn't have the bulky feel of the CGI. I know the renders could lead to both - bulky and slim due to the bad detailing of the clone models but I think these also have more roots in biker gloves -> leather than commando gear -> elastic polyester/textile.

Yeah - I hope this dedication serves as inspiration.

No that one is ok - though another source might have been closer as being US based. However I think that one is quite close to the original and technically better than the vacuformed part - crisp edges etc. Here is what I was about to post but wasn't sure of: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you buy these recently just for this upgrade? I don't want to be an asshole but there are really more accurate and easy to get alternatives available. These look a bit poor to me to be honest. I think the canister hose has to be grey for lancer but your's apear to be silver (at least on the picture). I hope you don't take it as insult. These are the alternatives (not too expensive and really the closest, the first actually close to 100%) MC (US) and underneath DJ (UK)
-
Maybe I should ask before I say something negative but I think it might be vital for future lancer aspirants - may I?
-
eeks forgot about it while sitting on my room planing. Will do now.

Mike probably can tell how benficial it can be to work with the crowd here when it comes to refining products . So if you feel like making use of a few critical eyes - just do it OT: I didn't know you are making TIE suits - I cannot see anything but a background on your page?
-
I'm interestd but it is highly dependent on price, accuracy and when it will be available. I think before summer I won't be able to make any bigger transactions. But interest is definately there!!!
-
Awesome - keep us updated. This is great and hope it will get affordable.
-
Talk about making money with - if any - slight modifications of old moulds.... I'm really sick of the lazyness and poor performance they're showing. And yes 12" please!! (Though I have to tweak my whole scout to become accurate)
-
Hey Mike it gets boring - nothing to criticise Awesome piece again. Time to jump in some suit and dress up to see those parts together
-
Damn that looks pretty. I must have one of these one day .
