So here is the anatomy of the gloves. Actually not so complex ats it looks in the first place. I think regarding the camo of the rear part of the gloves (finger and knuckle area is clean) it is difficult to tell if it was meant as field applied camo or not. I'd say the leather has one secondary green-brown tone as additional colour while the green which is showing only at a few spots and espescially on the padding and other bright details might be dirt. The fastener probably works like a quick fastener on skiing/skateing boots. The non stretched texture on the right glove shows that the material must be elastic plastic as it shows no sign of webbing structure. The rubber is identified by the rater rough and dull apearance. As the texture of pads and glove base show the same material characteristics I'd say both is composed of plain leather.
-
The fastener is messed up at the one side. My guess is that they have a weakpoint in the skeletal architecture causing some joints to overstretch the texture. If not the gauntlet must be an individual part lying over the end of the glove like gaiters over a boot. But serioulsy that makes no real sense although it is a bit puzzling that the rear part of the supposed gauntlet has this foam feel resulting in a distinctive seperation between glove and itself. I still think both parts belong together as they have the same material. In one of the promo renderings we got a wrong teyxture applied making it look as if it belongs to the suit. That's why all the fuzz about 'gauntlet or not' has arisen. This poster scan however tells a different story and makes sense. Could be that the padded gauntlet is meant as a rest/protective pad for the gun and recoil (laser weapons shouldn't have recoil though).
-
I don't think the protective pads are armor parts. Looks more like ...well pads. Could be of some snythetic fabric. We see that in several state of the art biking/skiing gloves. The grey thing in the rear could be rubber. The gloves you have found there look nice as a base.

You see a lot more... for example there is a 'gauntlet' One thing is clear - it is going to be a hard part to realize.

ghst, another member here scanned his poster and mailed it to some who wnated a copy. I can forward it to you - just pm me your adress.

These are the base colours I see in the armor.

Could it be that we both speak of different items regarding the vents? I mean those below the goggles - not those at the forehead shown in the Insider sketch. About the forehead vents - I am not sure but on the scan I see at least something that could be a shadow of the elevated center part. About the base colour - I think it is different to tell. I think white is meant to be the base colour with a camo being applied on field lateron maybe. At least the camo on the armor parts looks very rough and improvised. However even if white has been the base colour some kind of colour wash gives it a greenish feel. As if a low pigment quite liquid washing was applied first covering all armor parts and lateron the brushes of dark green and brown.

In case ILM has used a lowpoly version for this promoshot or if the CGI details weren't modelled at all in any of the CGI characters this might be a texture issue. Vents to prevent foggy lenses as shown in the insider and in some way verified here in the scans is just logical! Textures however tend to stretch on the polygons in certain areas. As some details were probably left out in the modeling to not make it too complex and as clones were seldom shown in detail shots it's not a surprise and not a showstopper in the movies. Of course this is speculative - but from a design point of view it makes sense.

Those vents were already visible in the Insider scan!. May have a scan copy as well? mail: solitaire at madphisto dot net

The Acrylikhan Armor Project Files
TB-7076 replied to Acrylikhan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I think the proportions of the armor follows the "strategical roadmap" of the human anatomy. As the scout uniform is a minimal armoured troop type you can only protect the most vulnerable and obvious parts of the chest and back. -
Do you know if the fabric can be died? I ma not too fond of the digital pattern as on screen it looks more like natural dots on screen.

There is a new camouflage hype in common street wear lately here in germany (apart from black, red, gold due to the football world championships ). However I often see some dark woodland camouflage based on the US scheme which comes quite near. Unfortunately I could't catch one of those to ask where they got their pants as I was always in the car and in a hurry - so I couldn't stop by and ask.

Not too bad but for real life use you have to think about some stabilizer loop strap that keeps the box at that position. Otherwise that thing would swing all around your legs the whole time and getting on your nerves quickly. Also you could think about functional boxes - at least I am a fan of real storage Shape seems ok.
-
The upper picture has been posted here from someone. This is probably the best we can get. I don't have the DVD yet as I am waiting for the box, so I couldn't try to make screenshots in higher resolution.
-
The variations probably derive from the fact that you have various levels of details for a model to be used in different shots. You don't use high poly models in a shot where the viewer is quite far from the character and or there is a mass scene etc. as it would consume too much rendering time. Time is money. Also considering the fact that the clones in EP II use stylized anatomical proportions I tend to favour logical shapes in the armor. So I think the proportions as PGHFett used in his first attempt shouldn't be altered too much. You wouldn't mount a chestplate if a good amount of chest area is left uncovered. So I recommend only a slight lift... Otherwise it would look funny in real life I think.

If you read further down the thread there was the idea to cast a base sole using an existing one and then build up a custom boot. Quite tricky task but I'd try it.

The Acrylikhan Armor Project Files
TB-7076 replied to Acrylikhan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I agree with Impgrrl - Shoulder bell should extend a bit to the sides. Contrary to the slim shoulder bells of the troopers the scouts have quite large shoulder armor. -
When will you start trials with dye?
-
Yeah that is quite close. I'd go for it as a master - seems to be out of production again.

Was your DVD software player set to use system resolution for export? here is the example of my DVD player to show what I mean. I always use fullscreen display and then these settings. My screen resolution is only 1280x1024
-
Yeah but that first posted screenshot must be of a very high screen resolution allowing for quite good detail while those in the gallery seem to be 1024x768 shots. Espscially for technical shots of state of the art poduced movies I have experienced that DVD accuracy is always scaled to screen resolution. So taking screenshots in higher display resolutions pays. Unfortunately I still don't have the EP II DVD as I wait for the trilogy box.

You seem to export these pictures out of a high resolution. That is why they're so good. Could you make more?
