  1. A Jango guy offered me to use his boots to make copies with. Unfortunately those are not the original ones but quite close. Maybe you guys could ask garrison mates as well.
  2. Hey buddy, I thought I made it clear in my PMs - no hard feelings and no drama. That is why I used the smiley in the remark. But to make sure for the public - I just wanted to express my pride the symbol I made is used to help others getting a nice detail on their helmets. I wouldn't have contributed it in these forums if not for public use. I am sorry my remark felt like a claim for "credits". So I am just honored pghfett is using a piece of my work to complete his great work and permission for my symbol pattern is granted for everyone who likes to use it (copyright is with LFL anyways ). Let's not forget we are here to share and improve! (Well at least I am...) Now carry on and get the buckets out - the legions are waiting
  3. I see something familiar
  4. OT: Maybe Caboots could revive the original scout sole as well?
  5. In the gallery there is the mugshot of that insider issue showing some details of the helmet that are hardly recognizable in the screenshots but hints are there (i.e. the lower google vents) White Barcs appear in one dark horse comic but with standard clone armor except for the helmet. Misconception I suppose.
  6. Really nice work. Awesome puzzle work - it's fascinating to see how that still works together. When you are finished you will have a very nice piece and and quite a monument for determined labour.
  7. It has been way too big in resolution and also in more than 72 dpi. I guess there is a limit for attachments and bigger files must get hosted on private webspace and then linked via image tag or hotlink.
  8. oops - I just noticed I typed com instead of net....cough cough... Anyways problems solved - here is the boot of dfett (resized):
  9. Turned out well. Just a note if I am not mistaken there is a black stripe on the visor - actually that part was cut out. I guess this is meant to to enable viewing while running with the head towards the enemy and the visor blocking vision.
  10. you can mail it to me so I can host it. solitaire at madphisto dot com
  11. You probably have to do mor ethan just cutting - yes. The problem I see is that all these boots completely lack the frame. they only have the arch but not htis massive outline. Something that needs to be modelled somehow.
  12. Those are McAllisters judging from the sole and colour.
  13. Well I did this to show how the flora is behaving with the armor.... I scaled a suit and put all the stuff of the barc in place. Just scroll up for the post I just quoted. I might go for german desert camo though as it is available as fabric; also the way the pattern is applied it is quite close and I can sew my own suit then. Those combat suits are a lose fit (for me) while the BARCs have quite tight clothes.
  14. Very nice page and cool art!! Love the way you wrote the tutorial - quite entertaining
  15. That is an optical trick. 1st. both pictures show a slight different angle/perspective. 2nd. if you throw contrast in the mom shot you have a similar effect 3rd. both observarions angular and round are correct. The shape of the elbow must be seen like an egg shaped oval upside down the narrow tip being downside seen from the front. The front end is more angular but not completly.
  16. Yes contour is curved: Yes belt is hard parts front and canvas/poly webbing belt aft Yes 2 Alice clips are in the back of the belt and two zip ties weather both items hold the detonator/regulator whatever is not clear but on of these probably does. You can distinnct alice clips and zip ties by the way they shine in the photos (Alice clips stick out more while zip ties are very tight to the belt) Just go to the gallery into the mom section and you'll see. (However due to the information one guy did heavy patching to the exhibition piece people look at these with twisted views - I see it realistic. There probably wasn't done any major harm to the general look/shapes)
  17. Well, it is still possible to get it quite near the CGI arts. It is just a matter of costs as LadyGhst already mentioned - everything has to be custom made to get it near the screen example. And of course CGI characters vary on screen as well. Like background extras and/or stunts and heros - there are lowpoly models for mass scenes and background for the CGI characters as well. That is one of the many points I really don't like with the new path Lucas has chosen - he should have designed the costumes to work as a real worn costume as well. Well just my gripes.... But I stay to my words - either I get it 85% as close as on screen or I drop it. this applies only to formal look. For examplke the pouches will be of fabric and look like fabric - not like the pouches in CG which could be solid but soft as well going by the screen. Things like that you have to alter and actually it is even better than CG then. I like to improve things to look more real - that is what I do with all my costumes.
  18. I think that is no real stitching as we are used to - it looks as if instead of oft fill material there is something more solid and more elevated with larger gaps between them. Transferered to real life I would say there needs to be foam bricks of let's say 10 mm elevation under the fabric and a gab at least of the same dimension. Might be that this is simulating armor shards implemented into the material. The pouch there might have a similar flap pattern but it got a more horizontal stretched look and seems zto be smaller.
  19. The Keller example of dark horse is quite authentic regarding beehive helmet and armor. The detail of art is depending on artist and scene. But the Keller unlike other troops got caught quite well. Should be no problem to replicate.
  20. Great shots - there you have it; the arch is the exact copy of the Jango boots. Unfortunately all boots that have an arch there don't have this squarish frame outlining it. And that is the whole miserable situation.
  21. In the gallery there is a concept illustration of the barc. PGFett was already on a good path with his helmet and espescially the snout - so you could ask him.... In case he cannot be found I have a backup of his progress pics.
  22. I'd broaden the middle elevation a bit. This is the mistake all but MonCal's elbows have. Too slimm T-ends and round top while being a bit borader and at the frontend quite edgy in the bow.
  23. I blame it on sloppy CGI concepts but the shin armor on all screens apears to be one solid tube - there is no noticable seam indicating it is made of two halves or one piece with one side open. So this is where we need to improvise. Imo the shape is a 1:1 Jango boot just couloured in said tan/white colour. I'd say it is a light warm grey - I don't know if the colour definition classic white (often referred to natural white as well) is used in english too. I have no time atm but when I am about to start with my barc (may be end of next year) I want to try to custom cast the sole. You can get PU used for soles and even cold cast it into moulds (depending on PU type). I want to base the moulds using an old pair of boots of mine and/or a derivate of the Jango boots (a guy already gave me an OK to use his boots) - then reshape a bit with modeling material. I probably have to get in touch with a cobbler for issues regarding the anatomical requirements of a sole and the attachment of the main body itself. I really want to try it - if it works it will also work for sierra remakes . Probably costing plenty of time and money though.
  24. I posted a flora camo/Barc manipulation in the other thread - somehow no one noticed ,
  25. Well though the BARC is none of my "Must Have" costumes I go for maximum accuracy as always. If I find no boot 85% matching or can't produce it myself somehow (current plans) I won't do a BARC. That applies to all my costumes Torso Boy recently posted a way to change colour of PU soles not only temporary if I understood correctly. So I'd still investigate in that direction. I wouldn't make a certain boot mandatory anyways as fashion and availability always changes.
