  1. I am currently trying with the other patterns using a grey layer, simulating a medium grade dark grey die. There are slao other patterns that could work. You only need to have a slim dark fields and medium to large sand tan colours. I will present those once I got through all of them.
  2. Sudanese Army. contrast and brightness levels down in PS and you get the lower result. If it was possible to to achieve the same effect with die - we are almost set.
  3. I also think it is armor. Leather would be better though as the way the armor pieces are aligned you could get in trouble while doing certain moves. However you wouldn't have stopped camouflage the base boot if attachments and base boot were both softparts but actually of different material - the hard shell pieces being easier to prepare to carry paint coating properly while leather might be a bit of a hassle. It is quite difficult to tell if the shin armor is one tube or two halves connected somewhere. The screenshot material doesn't reveil much except for the fact that these are not only front shin armors.
  4. That is why I chose the McAllister in the first place. As all boots using the sole as the Kenneth Cole models (Pit Crew) used in the movie are out of production and dark we have a bad stance anyways. Slowly I get fed up with all these boot problems - Sierra Sneakers, Kenneth Cole Pti Crew..... It is possible to make moulds, it is possible to get polyurethane, it is possible to use pigments with polyurethane.... I think it is time to take an old pair of boots and make a mould of these and then model replica soles of the on screen boots based on the soles of your boots. You need to take an existing sole to have a working inner profile. Otherwise it could be that you cannot walk in the replicas. Quite utopic proposal, but I think when I passed my finals I am going to try it. It might fail but I think it has to be tried.
  5. Looking at some boots I found the only one matching all needs might be the McAllister combat boots. A little work on the boots using a hobby knife could do the trick with the quite big bulge at the sides. What do you think?
  6. At least not online except for ebay maybe. Haven't found anything about russian combat gear in a quick search but will try.
  7. Ok, I realize that the average guy would really appreciate solutions like that but picky as I am I'd go for the airbrush solution once I begin with the BARC. Even if the trial should fail....I think it's woth being looked into.
  8. But on the screenshot it apears a lot darker to me. Not necessarily black - yes but quite a dark grey/green. And I don't think it's just the lighting.
  9. And you think dieing it black won't lead to a loss of the camo but still look like black base??
  10. ...do we have someone working with textile airbrush to get these black camopants?
  11. The problem with the digital troopers is that you can't really tell if something could have been meant as fabric or not. In the worst case ILM just didn't care too much if the material is recognizable or not and restricted their CGI to a minimum detail to save time and renderpower. This has a good side and a bad side. The good side is you are free to interprete, the bad side; it will be difficult to make standards for the legion.
  12. The screens I have seen don't show any pattern similar those SS camo patterns as they're more filigrane and use different colours. Even the blurred style ones or the swamp as well as blurred splinter camo of the Luftwaffe units don't match here. ...if any pattern of the axis in WWII then maybe aspects of the italian airborne camo...
  13. Hihi, I better finish my Scout first and then benefit from your findings
