Hi Sean, Another is shoes boots, looking into making them...start a list and sorting out what you need from the affordable onwards. Some builds can take a couple of years. One of mine did.

Victoria has the largest Squad in TAG ...Knightfall that is where this young fella is looking into. OK fellas the history lesson is over ..lol...

Hi Stefan, Another Idea, find out where your local Garrison will be trooping soon and you may find a Scout or two and they maybe able show you first hand. We have many cadets doing the same thing. I have two Cadets coming over to check out the Scout at my end of the world. good luck

HI adolof, I'm under 5 foot and made my own cummerbund aswell, My Pouches and cummerbund are of the same fabric they are not white, more of an off white . There is a pattern here on this site, and I just made the adjustments to my height. I did make a muck up one to be on the safe side. I have since then made quite a few cummerbuns for members. trick is to make sure to measure everything and double check. that includes the width of the elastic. good luck

DO NOT FORGET TO PUT YOUR KNEES ON BEFORE YOUR BOOTS!!!! If I only had a dollar for each time I forgot ...... I'm old and some silly bugger distracts me

David, I used that kit, it's not a good one, I cut the crap out of it and reshaped it. That was quite a few years ago now, my family has the SC kit which is outstanding to build. That kit is quite a bit of work.
-
haha Oh I know that Kit! I thought they would all be gone now...its from Atkin Miller I believe...
-
They did offer me a replacement.....cost of sending it back...and waiting another 4 months, and became concerned if the new one would be any better...
-
I brought from KS a few years back, Warped visor, sides all wrinkled sits wrong.....I now own a SC and couldn't be happier. KS shouldn't be recommended.
-
Mine are attached Velco to the bun..but I also have black straps that go over my shoulders (hidden) to help with the extra weight so the bun doesn't sag down

Hi Jen!!! I'm under 5 foot (4'11)....but I have no bust so from a short point of view, the only issue you will have is the gloves they do tend to cover most of the arm, , even if you buy the small ones. Guess what that had never concerned me until our GML picked on it from a photo. Still nothing much I can do about it. The other parts on the arm are fine you just need to trim and sand a little more. There is also another Lady in my Squad that is around 5 foot she is quite busty and loves the scout. Btw try scoring a two piece under suit!
-
Hi ya Brian and Welcome..... Ronnie I may need that pdf too, building my Daughter a SC helmet as well.
-
Kelsey, if you do like to sew it never hurts to have a back up set of under suit..being a two piece. Trust me when your waiting in line up to 2 hours at the marshalling area for a parade in Armour, you going to need to go to the bathroom.... My last parade was from 9.30 to 12 in armour, near the end my feet killed me but had no problem when i needed to go.

G'day Rob first time poster.... welcome !

Keith ....I love your photos thank you soo much for posting, this does help others on how to do the cummberbun. I'm now on my second (changed the to five rib). Many of the troopers have the 6 raised ribs this was before we could see the blue rays, once confirmed ribbing amount, I heard to give the older troopers no need to spend more money, but to let the new builds (troopers) punch out the revised 5 raised. That was what was said many moons ago. when the CRL was being rewritten. Well thats how I remembered it. Also the cod piece will drive you nuts when you realise its a little long in the back..you can see white I agree the bun is a tad tall....you will find it may be a tad extra hot with the extra height of padding.

Just to throw this in the pot! ..I was looking at weather my scout, but it seems my partners in crime (4 of us now) , 2 old mums and two very cheeky blokes both named Logan...now is saying all that I enjoy trooping with my Squad mates. I did mention looking into weathering my scout, they like the clean look. So instead of looking like a sore thumb so to speak, I think I will be staying clean for awhile. So the message here, the Squad you troop with may help in your conundrum. One day we all might get dirty! ...lol
