  1. All soles should be carvable, it's just the amount of elbow grease you might have to put into the cutting. A harder sole = a bigger pain in the butt.
  2. A heat gun can be your best friend when doing the toes. Also, the dog bone neeeds to be a little longer. If you look at photos of screen used boots, they come down and overlap onto the sole just a tad, enough to cover up the 1/2 toe strip that goes around the boot. You could even go about an inch higher on the tubes if you like. Looking good tho. Boots can be a pain in the butt, but it's a nice feeling building them yourself and having them turn out great. Do you plan on doing the lancer mods on the soles? Also, I've been curious how that type of boot will turn out, so I'll be keeping an eye on this build.
  3. Very nice, but like Chef said, not up to Lancer standards as is. The stitching on the dogbone needs to not be so close to the edge, and the dogbone itself could stand to be a tad bit bigger. The toe strip needs to be at least a half inch, can't really tell by the pic, but it looks thin. My next pair of boots, I will def go the leather route for sure...at least I think..lol
  4. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. But let's keep on point with talking about the lid, and leave the eFx out of this. Don't need any potential for this thread to spiral out of control.
  5. The straps on your drop boxes. You have the ends on the outside, and they should be hidden on the inside. When you look at them, they should give the appearance of one strap, and yours is just looking like a loose end hanging there.
  6. No problem. And yes, KS helmets leave a little, or a lot to be desired sometimes. I got lucky with mine back in the day, now a days..meh.
  7. Def what Tim stated. See if you have anyone local that would let you try on their helmets. See what fits you the best. I know the CB helmet has plenty of space, probably a tad more then the KS.
  8. You can always text a picture to Tigg or Mig, or Mo and they can tell ya.
  9. I think you're fine, to be honest. It's sublte and not over the top. We just don't want crazy weathering.
  10. No, you're hearing..er...reading things. Chef is def cooking with heat when it comes to scout armor. (See what I did there? )
  11. Welcome to BS.N, tom!. Head on over here http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showforum=36 which is our new members intro section. Easier for people to see and welcome you there, then in this thread.
  12. Welcome to BSN, Chris. PM sent.
  13. I've heard that those were actually small slits cut into the holster, which makes it look like stripes. But yes, no stripes please.
  14. The KS comes with no instructions, actually, but it's not that hard of a build. I've built 4 and have 2 more I need to build for others.
  15. See, I love the way we help each other out here..great job guys.
  16. Yeah if we can see a pocket, it'll be a no go for Lancer. Your GML may still approve it for basic clearance tho Redkaps are good, and if you know a seemstress, getting a mandarin collar done shouldn't be a problem.
  17. Hah, look forward to seeing your Lancer build. If you have any questions, please ask.
  18. Yep, not acceptable without heavy modification. When on Ebay, just type in biker scout gloves. Or click the link that Tim provided. Also, if you haven't yet, please head on over to www.fl501st.com and join up on the Florida message boards. You have some good scouts in your area that can help, as well as me being in Fl as well.
  19. Looking good so far. As for the tank, it's fine. Considering that the way they originally attach to the back plate isn't any of the ways we do it today, it looks good. And no, the rivets to not attach the tank to the back plate. But that's the way we all do it.
  20. Use the standards posted here on BSN. We'll need to get that changed in the CRL on the legion side.
  21. The NI is just a little too big for my taste. And you can def tell the color difference between the helmet and your armor. i'd repaint it if I bought one. KS out the box is still approvable for level 1 clearance, though we would want you to upgrade at least the snout before you try to get it cleared. For the fan made helmets, I'd still go with a LW/Chef, MLC, CB, SC, before I'd buy an NI or KS (which is what I currently use). I do have a LW which I need to finish building.
