Fair enough. Still a good idea to save your money and get something good, even if it takes you some time. Do your boots last - guaranteed you'll probably gain a size in the next 3 years. Either way, good luck and see if you can register on your local garrison forum. Sometimes garrisons will allow prospects like yourself access.

Once you get your armor done when you're 18, you'll have to submit it for approval. There's a form you fill out at the 501st.com main site and your local GML (Garrison Membership Liaison) will get in touch with you to get some photos. If everything's good, they'll give you the OK and you'll be a member of the 501st. Then you can troop with whomever you like. If you're chomping at the bit and want to get your armor done before then, you can also join the Galactic Academy. Sometimes, events will include kids from that group along with 501st, Rebel Legion and Mando Mercs. My advice? Save your money and wait until you know you're done growing. If you're 15, you're probably not done yet and it would suck to drop money on a nice kit and outgrow parts of it.

One thing that's important is to make sure you apply the glue evenly. So, when you gob it on, take a popsicle stick (or whatever) and spread it around so it's everywhere. Good luck!

The originals were white canvas and then weathered later on. So, whether you decide to make another set that is off-white or if you decide to tea-stain them, as long as they look correct, doesn't matter how they get there.

Do you know who made the armour? Most, if not all, of the scout armour vendors use ABS which is not brittle and will last a good long time. Did you have to paint the armour? If so, maybe it was made from HIPS which can be brittle if it's too thin. Any photos you have of the armour might help us help you identify the maker. Worst comes to worse, if you have to wear it, you can always cover the inside back with truck bed liner. That stuff dries rock hard.

Haven't trooped mine in a bit because of an injury, but I always get a bit toasty, especially in the heat. With regard to your helmet padding, I have a really small amount. I've just got a strip of window insulating foam on top and a couple of blocks at the temples to keep the bucket from rolling around on my head. The more padding you have, the warmer it will be.

Hi Falk! Your mudflap position is good, but you can go higher - it should be attached just at the waist. The riding patch starts well at the top, but you should try to keep that width as it gets closer to the knee - the bottom of the riding patch (at the knee) can be rounded, like a "D". You don't need to go that far at the back of the legs. Good start so far!

Pouches are 6" x 5" x 2" with an additional 2" tab at the top. If you choose to make that longer and wrap it around the top, it's up to you. You can sew it or Velcro it to the 'bund or even Velcro it to the inside of the chest armour. Realistically, the actual wearing of it all depends on how you're built, so if the pouches don't exactly hit the bottom of the 'bund, it's not the end of the world. The above guidelines are just that - guidelines. ; ) If you want to double-layer the pouches, have at it. There's no specific rule for or against it. The lid is the only part that really should be doubled as there is an inside and outside.

Glad to see this. Might be worth contacting RS and asking about the bicep armor issues. It really should wrap around the arm more and be taller. Otherwise, it all looks as I expected. Very cool!

Nope. No issues whatsoever. Just make sure whoever is sending the item marks it as a movie prop, plastic/rubber prop, or toy blaster, and never, ever as a replica or gun. Maybe even go so far as asking that the person sending it show a photo of it in context (ie. E-22 being held by a Shoretrooper, etc...). And if an option is to receive it unpainted or as a kit, go for that. Customs may still open it to inspect but they usually won't hold it if it's been marked correctly.

If you need, you should definitely take down the return edges a bit. I'm slowly working on mine and I've gotten rid of most of them around the face. I'd have to check on mine, but I think I left about 5 mm or so around the sideburns.

Hi Jenn, Typically, the codpiece shouldn't be going in between the legs, so it really depends on how yours fits you and was put together. One thing you can try is to add an extension to the strap so it doesn't pull as much.

Just an update - Here is the final March Roster! Going with the way the math worked out, by swapping out the unused slots for the 501st and Rebel detachments that had more requests we are able to take EVERYBODY who signed up. Great post, Mickey! If I may add a little bit here... As this is Celebration, it's not uncommon for the actors to be staying at the same hotels as con-goers and legion members. If you see them at the hotel bar or restaurant and you'd like to interact with them, your best chance of success is to just pretend they aren't an actor and just a regular person (which they really are.) That means leaving them alone if they're eating and not disturbing them if they're in a conversation with others, y'know, the usual common-sense stuff. My own experience with people like Jeremy Bulloch is to talk about what they like. Jeremy was always a big footy fan, and he'd talk about that gladly. And then there's some celebs that really don't want to be bothered. Read their body language and see how it goes. Billy Dee Williams isn't someone who will likely talk to fans much, unless he's at his table at the con. Ultimately, try to respect everyone around you and just have fun. Be open to meeting new folks and, maybe you'll meet someone famous.

Yes, there is some evidence that a neck seal was worn once but because it's not consistently worn, it's not part of the CRL. That's the key. Also, the neck seal that was crafted for the scout was not the same as the ones for the TK's (some description was in the SW Costumes book). If a scout decides to wear one, it's on them, kinda like if they want to wear a pauldron.
