Congrats Retrofire, new Captain of the Guard!

Congratulations! -
I hear ya. Videos take a lot more time than people think, especially when you're doing everything. Either way, ya made it look great!

Enough for a blooper reel?

Congratulations, Lancer! Great work!

If I may suggest, don't buy cheap thread. Gutermann is probably the biggest brand out there and their thread is excellent. Thread is relatively inexpensive, so don't skimp. Have fun!

Hi Cody. Good to see another scout in the making! If you can get a hold of a measuring tape or even a string you can measure against a ruler, try to see exactly how big your head is. The options mentioned above are great so don't worry too much about sizing. There's a size for most all scouts.

Stormtrooperguy Remnant Scout WIP
Dart replied to stormtrooperguy's topic in Scout Trooper: "The Mandalorian" WIP
Aloha! Welcome back! Sounds like you're well on your way. For the visor, if you wanted, you could definitely over-trim it to resemble the photo above. I'd do that last, just so you have an easier time lining everything up. Also, don't waste your time trying to buy an eFx helmet. I've been waiting now for something like 7 or 8 years? Still haven't received mine. -
Congrats on the BBB! Can you post up a photo of all the parts laid out when you get a chance? Never heard of this armour before.

Reference pics of the INTER Sierra Sneakers
Dart replied to Whiskey's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Inter seemed to come before Hi-Tec. Dunno if the former was bought by the latter or simply changed their name from one to the other. The biggest physical difference is the lack of the horizontal rib between the vertical sections of tread on the outside of the sole. The Hi-Tec Sierra Sneakers IV don't have them. -
That's really great! Good job, Pathfinders!

Glad to hear!

Be careful with the heat. Even though the RS bucket is made with thick plastic, it can still warp. If you can't get it off with heat, use cold. take the faceplate off and put some ice packs on the inside and chill the glue so it just cracks off.
-
Also, the pouches should be about 6" x 5" x 2". If yours are bigger, it might not be a bad idea to see if you can make some new ones.
-
To be honest, I've never had to touch the paint up. If you use any decent spray paint, it'll stick to the plastic and will likely never have to be touched up.

Congrats James!

The boots definitely look like some motorcycle boots. The armour from the waist up look like typical FO TK's. The biceps and forearms look the same, just with a different paint scheme. *Edit* The boots are very similar (if not exactly the same, just a different colour) to the Alpinestars SMX 6 v2 Boots. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-smx-6-v2-boots

Agreed. If you were going for Lancer, I'd definitely widen them but I'd agree with what Tim mentioned above.

The production made helmet they bought was likely painted flat, so I guess they took it as being canon. Considering we have lots of proof to the contrary, including an interview with one of the guys who actually worked on the helmets...

Will self made armor get approved? Go WTF/RS/MonCal?
Dart replied to troygordon2's topic in Getting Started
I applaud you on your ingenuity, Troy. There's certainly no reason why you can't give it a go. That said, the above reply is from a member who's gone the route you're proposing. You might find that it's actually cheaper to buy a kit than to spend the many, many hours designing and building it yourself. Either way, good luck and post up your progress!- 12 replies

Welcome aboard! Good luck!

To piggyback on what Chopper mentioned above, I've also seen people who've put large sponges in their pouches that have been cut down to size.
-
Great "State-of-the-Detatchment" speech, boss! Happy to help out for yet another term.

Welcome aboard, Logan! Mickey's got some great links you should check out above. Understand that it can take some time to assemble a kit depending on supplier timelines and availability. When assembling a new kit, I like to get what I can whenever I can afford it. For example, if you're dead-set on a Shoretrooper (don't blame ya, they're pretty cool), and you can't get the armour, try looking for the soft parts, like gloves, pants, boots, etc..., so you get some forward progress and can slowly work towards a finished costume. Good luck with your build and make sure you let us know if you need anything.

EVA foam would act as an insulator making the boots really hot. You'd be better off stiffening the boots with something else like a stiffer layer of leather or vinyl.

Actually, the RS helmet available to the public is based off a production-made helmet bought at auction a few years ago.
