  1. EVA foam would tear. Also, it wouldn't really look right as it doesn't have the shine that vinyl or leather do.
  2. Wow. You actually got yours. Nice comparison. You can see just how the RS and EFX look almost identical in certain sections. Thanks for the photos!
  3. Hey guys, I know the whole "baby Yoda punching" thing is going around, but let's try to stay away from calling the bag a "punching bag", ok? I know that's what was going on during the episode, but I think we're better than that. Keep it classy, scouts!
  4. I have all my stuff in a Stanley 24-gallon roller. It looks similar to the 50-gallon monstrosities that lots of people use but much easier to carry.
  5. The undersuit just looks like a plain black imperial jumpsuit. The collar flap even has a point to it.
  6. Wouldn't be surprised if that was simply due to a rush paint job... or someone didn't feel like masking that top curve, ha!
  7. I think so. They usually sold through ebay. I can't seem to find any record of them online when I search. I'd say that they can probably be removed.
  8. SA was the only show in town 10+ years ago. They kinda disappeared about 7-8 years back. I have a pair of their gloves and they're great. Full leather and still going strong 10 years later.
  9. Also, the same bag can be found as P08 - Pattern 1908 - same pattern was used for the large bag in both world wars. As far as colour goes, I think anything that looks beat up would be right. Khaki is probably a good one to weather and looks right given the surroundings on the planet (desert).
  10. Have you tried hitting up RS for some extra decals? I know when I got my helmet kit, I got 2 sheets of decals. Contact them and if they can't help ya out, lemme know.
  11. Sorry to hear, but it makes total sense. Great work in getting it this far!
  12. I do. Makes life easier knowing nothing will slip. Also means your strapping doesn't have to be as tight.
  13. Agreed with the above. The jumpsuit can be done and even the flak vest and cummerbund but the boots you should wait for until you actually get the armour. At the most, you could do the toe covering for the boots and save the barrel/upper until you get your armour fitted. Typical measurements for the 'bund are from your nipple to the top of your hipbone (while seated). Flak vest sleeves can always be taken in and adjusted once you get your shoulder bells.
  14. If I may suggest - the black really should be about halfway over the inside edge of the snout. So, yes, it should be black where the greeblie is, but you need just a bit more going over that edge. Take a look at the gallery at the screen-used scout helmet and you'll see what I mean.
  15. If you have a circle template or a big coin that fits the radius, you can use that as a guide for a nice, smooth corner. Just pencil in the curve and follow it with your masking tape.
  16. I still have my KS bucket. It's 10 years old having been worn for over 100 troops. It's yellowed, but so has my MC armour which is older. It's a decent kit for the price, but if you're willing to do some more work, you can get a nicer one. Also, mine's held together with the 3m indoor/outdoor tape and it's fine. It's held for 10 years, no problemo.
  17. You could always try sanding down the paint before riveting them on the kit?
  18. It really all depends on your climate. You're in Florida, so you're gonna have no major issues, but I'm guessing humidity may be an issue. Automotive paints generally do a better job but they take much longer to dry and cure and are also more sensitive to humidity. Considering the scouts in the movie had glossy white helmets, you're gonna want a glossy white paint. Also make sure you use a good primer coat to make sure the paint sticks and has a proper base coating to ensure you get a more even colour. You can do a clear coat, just make sure you're using a brand that's compatible with your white coat and make sure your paint is fully dried/cured. I'm in the process of this myself but I think I'll probably see if I can get my bucket painted at a shop, but that's mostly because where I live, it's just too cold right now to paint and I also don't have anywhere to actually do it.
  19. You mentioned Tie pilot in your list. It's a fairly easy to wear costume as the black jumpsuit is good for several other costumes. For example, if you got the black jumpsuit, a black cap, jackboots and a belt with the appropriate imperial buckle, you could get an IC - Bridge Crew. Throw some Tie pilot gloves on, add a comm pad and some code cylinders, and you've got a TI - Tie Pilot - Reserve. Then it's just a matter of getting the armour to do a full TI - Tie Pilot. OR, you could use the same jumpsuit and do a gunner, but the visibility is not so great. Point is, if you're just joining and you're new to the costuming thing, a soft costume (like an officer or crewman) is a great way to get in and see if you like it without dropping too much money.
  20. I agree with this. If people want to paint the ones that come with the kit white, that's fine. If someone wants to be an industrious 3rd party source for the toppers, then that can happen as well.
  21. Yeah... I'd say that if there's no actual difference between the ROTJ scouts and these troopers, there's no reason to bother with a new CRL. A sloppy 'bund and upside-down knees don't count. That'd be like having a different Boba Fett CRL for the time in ESB where he's got his kneepads on upside down.
  22. I actually really dig this variant. Thanks for all your hard work, Luis! Keep it up!
