1. I’m working on a build thread for this and will post it shorty. Great advice on the Velcro evnltr thanks! I’m keeping the RS Greeblie in my trooping bin just in case. I’ll keep a little self stick Velcro on hand now too. The Scotch double face tape should be arriving today so hopefully I’ll have something posted by the end of the week.
2. That’s what I was leaning towards but wanted to confirm with the pros. Thanks Chopper
3. Okay, my RS bucket has the snout recess painted black and the original snout greeblie was attached via a screw that went into the aerator. Easy peasy removal. I’m putting in a Ukswrath audio system and recreated the scout piece with UK’s greeblie and a new backing plate. I am looking for advice on how to secure the new greeblie and backing plate to the bucket. Should I scrape away some of the paint from the snout recess and glue the snout baking plate/greeblie to the bucket with E-6000? Should I use some double face tape instead, and if so, is there a particular tape/brand I should use to ensure a secure and lasting connection? Are there any other options to consider?
4. That’s a thing of beauty Joe! Worth the wait.
5. I’m going to echo Chopper’s comment above. Great attention to detail, well done!
6. Well done Eric! Great job on you submission. Congrats!!!
7. Man that is sweet! You’ve got on heck of a gift Justin!
8. Lol! You’re outta uniform son! I’ve been there Joe. It took over an hour to get my basic submission photos just right. My 15 year old son was my wrangler. We’d take a couple of shots, look the over everything and invariably find something had shifted or wasn’t quite right and do a retake. Took forever because I knew I’d be using the same photos for my Lancer submission and every detail would be looked over with discriminating eyes to ensure all was just right so I wanted to get it right the first time. I was holding off on adding Velcro to the undersuit for biceps, etc. until I was approved so that I could make sure that I had everything in it’s proper place. Wrong! I should of done that first and then taken my pics. Once you get things secured with Velcro you’ll be fine. I have no issues with wardrobe malfunctions while trooping because everything is locked in tight and secure. For what it’s worth, in spite of all your foils while taking pics, you look fantastic! [emoji41]Excellent job!
9. Thanks for all the clarifications and revisions. They’ll be most helpful to many with their builds. Thank you to the team too! Even though the armory team is paid top dollar [emoji6], I know that managing all of this information and all of the other work you do on behalf of the detachment is a lot of work. I for one am grateful for the team’s dedication and all that they do. Pathfinders lead the way!
10. That’s great to hear Nathan...one less thing you have to worry about.
11. Nathan, I’m sorry to hear of your mom’s diagnosis. She’ll be in my thoughts and prayers, as will the rest of your family.
12. That flexible TPU for the ab section was ingenious. Where did you get that idea?
13. Nathan hit the nail on the head and offered sound advice. I’m really pulling for you to finish. You’re so close. Set the lancer thing aside. Like everyone has said, get cleared for basic, get out and troop, enjoy getting to know your garrison mates, making kids (and lots of adults) happy. That’s what this is really all about.
14. Looking good brother! It’s the home stretch! You’re going for Lancer after basic approval right?
15. Thanks Rad Those additional touches really brought it home. Well done!
16. That looks great! So talk to me about how you weathered it. I think providing some details on your paint process and weathering techniques would be really helpful to troopers looking to emulate your look. It looks very natural as if the paint was chipped away during skirmishes. I for one am always interested in others weathering techniques, and I really like what you did here.
17. You’re good! You may want to paint it first before attaching it so that it’s easy to handle.
18. Sounds like you have everything in hand. Nice work. As for the strapping. It should be sewn under the patches. They should be attached about an inch or so below the crotch. See the CRL photos for proper placement. You may want to suit up again to make sure that when you cut the strapping it is “Goldilocks” (just right). You don’t want it too snug where it pulls on your undersuit and constricts the leg, and not too loose where it sags and hangs down on the side of your leg. You can always post up a photo with you wearing it if you’re not sure and we’ll give you feedback to assist with any questions you may have. Keep up the great work!
19. Clever Rob. Very ingenious. BTW, I was a bit mortified as a Scout when those two Remnants couldn’t hit the can from like 10’ away. It’s bad enough that we have to deal with tree jokes and murder bears. On the positive side, they can really handle those speeders, especially in the trailer for season 2. But then again, there are no trees [emoji6].
20. Phil, I’m sure that there are mates in the UKG who would help you with the bund and flak jacket. Reach out to them. You’re basically talking about cutting back some material and then rehemming it. The other thing to keep in mind is you’re in a good situation. You’ve lost weight which means you have extra material that needs to be removed. That’s an easy and cheap fix. Had you gained weight during covid you’d be looking a purchasing a new bund and FJ. I know you’re frustrated but you’re so close to the finish line. Hang in there and keep asking those questions. We really want to see you succeed!
21. If you have the cb and cod on hand then definitely do a test fit to see how everything aligns. That will allow you to fine tune your pattern. I’m speaking from experience because I originally squared off my top and the corners ended up protruding from behind my cod. So I had to seam rip the top of the patch, round the corners and then stitch by hand. It was a pain to do, so if I can save someone else the hassle it’s worth it. If you look at the crl photo the patches actually curve in behind the cod piece giving it a cleaner look.
22. I’m guessing you mean to add another 2” strip of Velcro on the left side of the CB next to the original. I don’t think it would be an issue because it wouldn’t be seen. Hopefully Chopper will chime in with some advice here.
