1. This boot here is the one commonly used by scouts as a base for their boots. Pretty reasonably priced and comfortable. Not sure about the wide aspect for you though. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B017THAWAO/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_inactive_ship_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
2. If your eventual goal is to get to Level 2 with your costume, putting the white trim around the entire bottom of the boot won’t work. The trim can only go around the front as seen in the pic you provided and the CRL. As Cory noted, your boots should be fine “as is” for basic approval and the rest of your setup looks ready to go. So, there’s no need to delay your submission for basic. Get your photos in to your GML and then once approved start making your adjustments and improvements if you still want to shoot for Level 2. We’re pulling for you Edwin. Good luck!
3. There’s always the E11-P [emoji41]
4. Cory, looking at post #8 you can see the stitching in the sole pretty clearly. I’m wondering if Edwin might be able to use some type of filler or compound to fill in and cover the stitching making it a smooth flat surface and then paint it along with the rest of the sole so it’s one color? Do you think that might work and if so what might he be able to use to fill it?
5. There’s a great video tutorial by Tarrif Goodwin on YouTube that walks you through the build of a WTF scout helmet.
6. Dude, that is a SWEEEET set up and a wicked idea! Well done. So my question is how did you retro fit your saber parts into the staff? Any pics?
7. Looks great Mickey! What do you do to prep your pieces after printing for painting? Do you sand, fill, sand, fill, etc. to take care of the print lines or does the PETG minimize the need. Your pieces look really good and you get them done pretty quick from print to paint so I’m just wondering.
8. Nice job with the paint and weathering! Looks really good and I’m glad to hear that the last piece of the puzzle is arriving this week! That’s great news. Looking forward to seeing you all suited up. It’s the home stretch brother!
9. Shawn, if you haven’t downloaded the Tapatalk app for your phone, give it a shot. You can upload larger photos easily using the app which will allow the armorers and other to be able to see the details in your photos. The app is free and there’s a generous limit on the number of photos you can upload to the forum each month. It appears as if you are using the forum’s photo upload, which is restricted and very limited in the size.
10. A pattern for the pouches can be found here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/19200-pouch-dimensions/ I did create a pattern for the Cod and have it posted in my build. It was based off of one that Strider made some time back. His thread can be found here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/17305-lancer-build-tutorial/ My adapted Cod pattern: https://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5e7e2ada14e91/Strider%20Cod%20Template%208.5x11%20printable.pdf My build thread referenced above has info on constructing the bund but no pattern as the overall length will vary from scout to scout. You’ll want to keep the overall width between 8-9 inches. With the exception of the pouches, you’ll most likely need to tweak suggested measurements and any patterns you use so that they fit you best.
11. Good luck brother! Hope you hear something soon. Keep us posted!
12. Can’t wait to see it come together Nathan!
13. If you’re planning to redo your own cummerbund Edwin and looking for fabric recommendation you can check out my build thread here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21137-dennis-scout-wip-lancer/ The first post has my material list with links to the items at Jo-Ann Fabrics, Amazon, etc. The material I used for the bund was a 100% cotton sateen. There’s other fabric options out there so shop around. There’s also instructions for how to measure everything out for the bund in my WIP too if you need it. Cory really knows his stuff so like he said, you should be good for basic approval with your current setup, so get your submission going and then you can always change things out and redo pieces at your leisure later.
14. Justin, once again you’ve outdone yourself. Your raw talent with 3D art and printing always has me in awe and I’ll admit a bit jealous. As for the name, I think there’s precedent for LFL incorporating fan based stuff into the franchise to warrant a movement within the 501st to have it named the E11-P. (After all isn’t that why Boba and Maul are still alive?). Call it what you will for the CRL, but perhaps if we continue to refer to it as such in house it will eventually stick [emoji6]. One can only hope. Again great job Justin!
15. Hey Edwin! Nice job with the adjustments you made. Your set up looks good. Chopper gave you good advice regarding the bund. I know your bund and cod piece are sewn together as one piece so raising it makes it a bit more challenging. However it looks like your cod piece tucks in between your legs just a bit. If you loosen the strap in the back so the cod piece lays in the front rather than pulling in between you legs that may give you the 1” or 2” you need to pull up the bund. I did attach Velcro to the back of my flak vest as well as the front to keep the bund from sagging or sliding down. I also put some Velcro along the top of my bund which attaches inside of my chest armor to help lock everything in place. Chopper has a great post on keeping stuff together while trooping that you can read here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/18894-some-tips-for-keeping-your-scout-costume-together-while-trooping/&tab=comments#comment-170156 It’s worth a look if you haven’t seen it. Great job on everything and good luck with your app for Basic approval. I’m pulling for ya!
16. Wompet Nice find there. Great research!
17. Troy, you look sharp brother. You put together a great build. Good luck with your app, we’re all pulling for ya!
18. Jenny you have some mad talent when it comes to tailoring. That flak vest looks very nice. Well done.
19. My experience is the same as Chopper’s. The clips are good enough to provide a secure connection for me. I’d test fit it to see how it feels first. If it’s snug you’re probably okay. If it’s a little loose and slides on the belt then try one of the methods described above.
20. Lots of decent options for blasters, including 3D prints, but one of the best out there IMO is available right here from Darth Voorhees. He does seasonal runs. His Winter run should be forthcoming. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21805-7cs-ec-17-scout-blaster-run-late-fall-2020-postponed-till-winter/
21. Welcome brother! A great place to start if you haven’t made a decision on what armor you want to use is to check out the comparison thread here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/17774-the-ultimate-armor-comparison-thread/ There is a ton of information available on the forum to help you succeed. The armorers here are excellent. They know the ROTJ Scout like no other and are a wealth of information so be sure to post up any questions you may have and when you’re ready start a WIP here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/96-biker-scout-wip/ There are really great builds there too that you can check out to see what’s entailed and to begin to plan you’re own build.
