Keep in mind too that while RS is probably the most costly of options out there, they do ship it completely assembled, so the price is worth it IMHO. You’ll only need to make minor tweaks to ensure proper fit, and if you’re planning to shoot for Level 2 - Lancer Certification (and I hope you do down the line) there are only very minor changes that need to be made. I have an RS Red Label bucket with the weathered (dirty option) armor and am VERY pleased with the look and construction. Can’t go wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You may have to ask for access to the spec ops forum to see the file, but if they pulled it from here, I’m assuming it is the t-shirt tutorial that can be found here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/12485-build-your-own-vest-wpictures/ It’s been around for 6 yrs and many scouts who build their own vest use it for reference. TaterNanners nice job on the pouches, especially with you being relatively new to sewing. I see your success was a real confidence builder for you. Well done! Here’s a tip for when you are sewing things inside out and then turning them right side in like your pouch flaps - to get real sharp corners, use the handle of a spoon (or other object that’s not sharp or pointy) to gently push the corner material out. If you forget, and sew it up, you can use a safety pin to gently pull the corner out. I have a Red Kap undersuit, but I hear many say the Kolossus suit is lighter, which means not as hot when all suited up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Flight suit for very small women
Aradun replied to DarthSnark's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
There’s another member here who is 5’2” and working on a Mando Scout. Perhaps you might be able to assist one another, as I believe she’s also finding it challenging to find a suitable undersuit and is exploring a two piece option. She goes by Cat here on the forums and her build thread can be found here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21998-tusken-raider-turned-biker-scout/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

It looks like it’d be okay. You’d have to remove the zippered pockets from the legs and arms. The image doesn’t zoom in well but it looks like two on each leg - thigh and calf) and it looks like one on the upper arm. I think you can get away with leaving the zippered pockets on the chest so long as they are not visible underneath your chest armor. Chopper thoughts? Hey Cat, I know you’re trying to save cash on your build, but Mon Cal is doing a run on flight suits. They’re $120 plus S&H. Maybe you could talk some family/friends into pitching in for a holiday gift or something. They probably have better sizing options for you. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/22028-flightsuit-by-moncalfar-away-creations/ I know you have a Red Kap on hand already, but if you follow the advice of those over at the JRS, they usually advise buying 2, one to cut up for the extra pockets and one to wear. Just some thoughts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Got my kit in July so we’re only talking sometime in the last 5 months. Now, when I share that I have an RS kit, they’ll be like “Oh, you have one of their older kits.” [emoji1787] I do like the matt finish with the RS armor kit, and find the difference to be subtle, but I have seen others scouts post pics of an RS bucket with their non RS armor and sometimes the difference is significant. Hopefully, if RS did make a change to glossy it will help their buckets blend in better with other armor kits. Although TBH, in our role as snipers, do we really want a glossy reflective bucket? What was the Empire’s department of strategic defense and development thinking? [emoji1787] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Honestly, I bet that they are sitting in queue waiting for paint. There’s no lens installed yet, although they do have the snout painted. Hmmmm. I’d be surprised if after all their talk of researching the bucket and stylizing their paint scheme based on what they found that they’d go glossy, but you never know. Cummerbund help
Aradun replied to TaterNanners's topic in Scout Trooper: "The Mandalorian" Soft Parts
Okay, so there’s info on the construction of pouches here and it includes a pattern with measurements. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/19200-pouch-dimensions/ General info on the cummerbund can be found here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/19967-soft-parts-best-practices/ There’s info from scouts in various build threads, but I’ll share the link for my WIP, as I have some detailed info in there on the construction of the CB, pouches, and Cod that you may find helpful. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21137-dennis-scout-wip-lancer/ Others may chime in with some tips, tricks, and info that helped them. Post up any additional questions you may have. We’re happy to help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Studio Creations armor/helmet kit

Good to know. I really liked the gray they used. My Ukswrath replacement is a slightly lighter shade. Filing this pearl away for future reference. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

One of the armorers will chime in with solid advice on how to address the fit issues with your chest and back armor, but I’d get your undersuit squared aware first, as you’ll need to get your armor fitted over that and it will be easier to gauge fit and placement once you have your soft parts squared away. There’s a great tutorial on mods for the undersuit here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/19259-undersuit-mods/ I would recommend checking out some of the build threads too to get ideas on how to fit everything together. They’re often filled with tips, tricks, and suggestions not just from the scouts building the kit but from armorers and others chiming in with feedback. You’re not alone in this, you’ve got a whole detachment of scouts eager to help you succeed so keep the questions coming. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Mike you look awesome brother! Excellent job and Congrats on finishing everything! You’re definitely set for basic. Looking forward to your crossing the finish line! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Despite what Master Yoda may tell you size does matter. Per the CRL for Basic Approval: “The boots are secured up the back using 25mm (1 inch) white hook and loop fastener.” If you don’t have a copy of the CRL you can access and download it from here: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TB_Scout_trooper It’s definitely something you want to keep at arms length at all times during your build, if you’re not doing so already, as you’ll need to refer to it often. If you want to post some pics, it will give one of the Armorers a chance to weigh in with some options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great choice with CFO/Lonewolf. I’m sure you’ll be pleased!

Nice job Mike! You should be proud of your accomplishment. Looking forward to hearing of your approval and welcoming you to the ranks.

Well, consider that SC sells their fully assembled complete scout armor and bucket kit for about $900 USD and their fully trimmed unassembled complete armor and helmet kit for $570 USD, that give you a figure of $330 for assembly. I think $300 bucks for you to assemble the armor sounds fair. If you need to trim the kit I’d add another $75.

Not a variation. The scouts in the last episode weren’t remnants. They were Moff Gideon’s scouts. No slackers in Gideon’s corps like you saw in season one with the local warlord lol. -
Making a cummerbund, pouches, and cod
Aradun replied to Zugor's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Keep in mind that the flak vest is mostly covered by you bund and armor so if it’s a little big you may not notice it at all once you suit up. But if you need to take it in I would start by taking it in via the back. Remove the hook and loop, try taking it in an 1” on either side (that will eliminate 1/2 the excess right there and tighten up the look). Then test fit it before reattaching your Velcro. This will allow you to see if further adjustments should be made before you reattach the Velcro. If you have your armor and bund on hand be sure to test fit with those on for full effect. -
