  1. Sweet!
  2. Well, after 10 years, all that time researching has certainly paid off. Great choice in gear so far! Kudos! Once you have stuff in hand and start your build feel free to hit the armory team up with your questions. We’d love nothing more than to get you across the finish line so you can start trooping!
  3. Great work. For the bund, I also added a small Velcro tab to the bottom of my bund with hook on one side and loop on the other. That tab gets sandwiched between the Velcro of the belt strap. The end result is that it helps keep the belt from sliding down in the rear especially with the added weight of the TD. You can see the tab in the photo below.
  4. Therapy you say? Give me your address and I’ll shoot you a whole bunch of 3D prints sitting on my work bench waiting for processing. Just kidding lol! Seriously though, The Duke gave you the same info I would have given you. Good recommendations there! As for sewing, I was a novice when I started my journey to become a scout. You’ll be fine, especially with the detailed resources available here. Hit us up with any questions you may have. We’re happy to help. Kudos on your ambition too! Shore, Scout, and Swamp! Huzzah!
  5. Congrats David! Excellent build and well deserved recognition! Welcome to the ranks brother!
  6. Good luck with your approval! You look fantastic!
  7. They really came out great! Nicely done!
  8. Great work on tailoring the flight suit! Looks great. Adjust the patches as noted by Chopper and you should be good to go.
  9. Nicely done!
  10. Great job! Chopper’s got you covered with the tweaks for your approval pics, with regard to your question on the bunching you’re experiencing in the back with your bund… You can attach a piece of Velcro to the outside back of your vest and another piece to the inside of your bund. That will keep it from sliding down and bunching up under your back armor. Chopper put together a great post a few years back on how to keep things nice a tight while trooping so you look sharp from start to finish. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/w18894-some-tips-for-keeping-your-scout-costume-together-while-trooping/ Give it a read, and then after you get a few troops under your belt you’ll have a better sense of what tweaks are needed to keep stuff in place. Good luck with your approval!
  11. Great job on the suit and the patches. You’ve got mad skills with sewing.
  12. Personally, I find the open collar with a gaiter to be more comfortable than using a neck seal with open collar or opting for the mandarin collar. I feel that heat dissipates a bit better with that option.
  13. Nice! I was just catching up on this and was going to recommend using a chisel blade for a smoother cut, but I see you got thing squared away with great results. Keep up the great work!
  14. When using the rattle can test on some cardboard or something to get your distance and technique down before applying to your kit. Always start the spray off to the side of the piece you are spraying and move quickly across it. Starting the spray over the piece may create more of blaster burn look, which should be done sparingly if at all.
  15. The new color for the soles of your boot looks great! The spacing between the belt and your back and chest armor looks about right. It’s not a lot of real estate, as a general rule there’s only about 6” of bund that actually shows with about another 2” tucked under the chest armor. Things are really starting to come together. Keep up the great work!
  16. Excellent work Mickey! This will be great for new builders. Still waiting for @Chopper to unbox his RS kit [emoji1787].
  17. I’m sure you’re already aware, but I’d also add a reminder to round the edges of the backing plate for the holster. Squaring off the edges would be detrimental to your vinyl and it would only be a matter of time before those sharp edges tore into your boot.
  18. Here’s what I used from Joann’s for my Flak Vest. https://www.joann.com/classic-sportswear-cotton-twill-fabric/16734808.html
  19. Excellent point! Thanks for mentioning it! It’s definitely worth the investment.
  20. @Minimo @KOtrooper Any thoughts?
  21. @Dyne Mazic the creator pulled his stuff from Thingiverse sometime last year due to others using his files for profit on sites like Etsy. He has them posted on Cults3D for a very nominal fee. They’re excellent files and worth way more than the $4.34 he charges now. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/star-wars-dlt-19x-blaster-mg-34
  22. I don’t. It was just a piece of craft foam that came in a 8x10 sheet. It’s the same thickness as those craft kits used in kids crafts.
  23. A backer for the holster rivets is a good idea. I’ve added them to mine after two rivets tore through. No issue now with the ABS backer. Also, if you’re looking for info on the Cod, you can check out my WIP. I’ve got a pattern posted there. You may need to modify it for your needs, but it’s pretty step by step for the build. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/topic/21137-dennis-scout-wip-lancer/page/2/ Let me know if you have any questions.
  24. Congrats on your approval. Outstanding and welcome to the Pathfinders!
  25. Hey David! I have a Ukswrath mic and speaker too. Chopper linked my build above and it has pics of my setup which is similar to yours. However, I’ve blown two of the speakers over the last two years. The volume was never at max due to similar feedback concerns so I don’t know why they stopped working. The first one lasted just over a year and the replacement lasted around six months, so I scrapped the Ukswrath speaker all together and replaced it with a nice 5w speaker, which is much larger. By comparison Ukswrath’s speaker is 1w. I have the new speaker mounted behind my head, just below the Ukswrath powerpack. My RS helmet is fully padded on the inside and everything fits well. The speaker is sold as a 2 pack. I’m only using one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0822YZPR9 Naturally you don’t need foam to reduce feedback if the speaker is mounted behind your head. For your existing set up, you don’t need a lot of foam over the Ukswrath speaker in the snout. A very thin piece of dense foam will do the trick nicely and just placed over the hole where the wiring goes to the speaker in the snout. If you have a foam piece over the mic tip all the better. Sometimes his set ups include a foam mic tip, sometimes not depending on what brand he has in supply. As for fans, are you having an issue with fogging or is it a heat thing? I’ve not found any need for fans. In my experience, most scouts find that they don’t need them. The open ears, gap between the lens and nose piece, and openness at the bottom, seem to allow plenty of air circulation so that there’s little to no issue with fogging.
