A question about cable ties for shoulder bells...
762s replied to BeardedTrooper's topic in Getting Started
use the lock of another ziptie .. thats simple enough and sounds like it will work thanks for the info .. once again -
i start with your first pic and work my way down with some tips/pointers ... then below i will add some photoshoped reference pics of what i point out pic 1: cant tell if this is a bad pull or if the indent is where wtf wants you to cut ... looking at pic 4 the right side visor doesnt show in the pic but, does the right side have the same indents in it? if so then this would be more to where you want to cut to. also, looking at pic 4 it does look like your visor is to far forward with the bolt area to line up correctly and it looks like you could stand to trim the visor back to get it line up in the bolt area on the side. pic 2: that is way to wide and you can see it in pic 4 ... you want the visor to be be as flush with the helmet on the side pic 3: i wouldnt cut any more on that .. about 1/2" is ideal .. start sanding and smoothing out that edge pic 4: looking at this it looks like the indent i mentioned in pic 1 is indeed close to where you need to cut ... the visor needs to come in and back pic 5: that looks good ... maybe should have left the extra material to make a return edge but, thats just personal preference just be sure to have the lower part the same angle as the visor pic 6: make this side look like pic 5 ... the extra material there is what i mentioned in pic 5 to make a return edge like in pic 5 .. just be sure to have the lower part the same angle as the visor pic 7: i can see in the reflection of the bend that there is a indent in the top and reflection is close to where your cut line is suppose to be pic 8: no need to touch a thing there .. that is your gluing edge pic 9: no need to touch a thing there .. that is your gluing edge here is my reference pics: pic 1 -- this is what looks like what needs to be cut off pic 2 -- this is what looks like what needs to be cut off pic 4 -- visor needs to go back and width of the visor needs to be close to what your helmet width(w) is pic 5 -- make the left look like the right pic 7 -- see the reflection and indent marked near the yellow arrows? this shows me that the visor has slight indent to what needs to be cut off start with 1 half of the visor and work it to the helmet. your trying to get the bolt area to line up and the outside of the rear of the visor to be flush with the helmet at the side above the ear area. when 1 half of the visor is correct, do the same on the other side. do not cut the center of the visor overlap till you have the width and placement of the visor correct. once your happy with the way the visor sits to the helmet then cut the center overlap of the visor. just take you time and slowly cut the visor to fit to the helmet. dont glue anything and test fit alot ... hope this helps you make some progress good luck!

fubar is like saying something is messed up, not right, incorrect, bad ect. it is a military acronym for (f**ked - fouled) up beyond (all - any) (recognition - repair - reason) so, the factory bolt holes are fouled up beyond reason or simply put they are incorrect

does the zip tie base lock the zip tie on the end with no locking mechanism? or are you gluing the zip tie end to the base that mounts to the chest armor? e6000, ca glue or hot glue? and what size ziptie and ziptie base are you using? .. i see several sizes out there! do you mind sharing where you sourced them from? -
looks good! about the holes ... they are fubar factory marks, and what matters is the hole in the helmet as the visor will be a square hole. i measure and center the square part of the bolt in the round area on the visor .. with the square cut out, re-tape the visor to the helmet and find center through the square on the helmet to make a hole there. good luck and keep us posted!

-
thats what i needed to know as with the soft parts i have .. things do seem kinda snug ... but, i tend to think the flight suit may be more of my issue thanks anyways ... just wanted to see how other scouts mobility where
-
answered your questions in red above good luck with the build and head over to the vendor section and look for those accurate tb helmet hardware kit & headband kit thats the closest headband we will get now
-
heya scouts ... got a question for you all as ive never put a sw costume on and kinda curious how mobile you are after suiting up? can you: ~ bend over pick up stuff off the ground ~ sit and get up with ease ~ grab your blaster out your holster ~ leap over fallen trees and hurdle ewoks

@ kroenen77 for your first post a page back ... the rivets are to hold the headband in and that looks like what your helmet pic is showing on the inside, the studs might be where the headband where mounted. and with that helmet pic you have is that one with the incorrect snout greeblie? and with the RS bolt .. sand them down and paint them and they will look the part of being screen accurate ... the screen used bolts where from 3M headband the rs kit faceplate will sit up by itself .. but you will have to take a good portion of the visor out for it to do so ... heres 2 different rs kits i did

pics from starwarshelmets.com i think we see more 8 vents than 7, 9 vents ... but, i believe at this point any of those numbers would be ok as we do see them all being used. theres another screen used helmet with 8 errr 9 vents with the 8&9 vents built in together creating a wider vent heres another not finished with 9 .. the 9th in the center being smaller than the rest screen used ... with 8 vents

you should be able to fix the 2(4) holes fairly easy, some plastic epoxie and little white touch up paint on the repaired holes and i believe you should be good to go for lancer. when you drill the rivets out, grab them from the back side with some pliers or vise grips so the topside rivet doesnt spin and create a bigger hole in the plastic good luck and the build looks good .. keep us posted!

square part of the bolt goes on visor only. nothing on the main helmet is square
-
ahh .. ive seen that pic around .. thanks for posting it here so, by the way my velcro is now, it could stand to be swapped around to be attached to the bund instead of the armor got it!

cod piece ended up really really bad in the first set of pics .. they are now deleted, haha yeah, im kinda hesitant on modding the gloves ... i still have my wampa's and i think thats whats keeping me from modding them. i will be using them though just have to let novelty/newness of having them wear off a bit. yes, i do plan to alter the suit a little ... ill try stirrups first on the legs to keep the legs from coming out the boot and bunching up if i have to i will take them in/taper the legs just abit more so, bund under chest armor a couple of inches then.. i looked back at some reference pics and i see what you and strider are talking about now with pouches being lower than the top of the bund chrisx did add a flap with velcro to the pouches(see pics in post #10 above) ... i have them tucked and pinned behind the bund in the pictures. i thought the bund was abit to long myself but, that will make for an easy fix when i get my armor to size it up with and well, since the cod piece is bunching up i will look into fixing that too. chrisx added velcro to this part too(to attach to suit) and looks like i will be able to make that an easy fix as well thanks guys for the criticism, i will work on the things you all mentioned while i wait for my armor

The Ultimate Armor Comparison Thread!
762s replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
dug through my contacts with them and heres what i found... this was under Full kit includes the following armor parts: "· Tank kit (optional assembled or non assembled) includes topper, decals, bracket for mounting to armor" this was under the Individual parts pricing: "Tank (includes decals only) …………. $XXXX+ shipping" -- i X'd out the cost so, it seems by those 2 line items it is a separate piece. im not sure on the kit needing modded for lancer ... maybe, you can contact/message rawktrooper from the post #63 above for more info, looks like he has their kit -

so, got my 2nd suit and a flak vest yesterday and decided to see what things looked like ... this was the very first time i suited all this up and ... i see i will have to: ~ add some stirrup to the pants ~ cod piece .. meh, to big? stitching radius needs redone? what? i do have the elastic just below the crotch turn and it is a 1 piece cod piece ~ im working on the filling of the pouches so, disregard any green foam you see ~ gloves are a wip too ~ the back of the bund needs pulled up -- secure with velcro to the suit? so, with that ... ill take all the constructive critisism you all can give ... thanks

and while i was on the hunt for a good screen accurate lens ... original link http://forum.bikersc...pic=18398&st=20 i got some help from strider with a type of lens to use. it took me abit of searching but, i found it and im happy with the lens. its a Oneal Grey 2018 B2 RL MX goggle replacement lens, fairly cheap too i ordered it from across the ocean and arrived within a week, the company i used for the lens is: http://www.freestyle...%5cu0020lens%7d heres a glance of it from the inside with the screen used helmet as reference below .. obviously lighting is effecting the "grey" tone (will try and get a cleaner/better pic)
