  1. The entire faceplate assembly bolts into the dome portion via to two rotator bolts. There aren't any other bolts used to mount the face portion to the visor portion. Helmet assembly for the scout can be very finicky, but you should be able to work the position between the face portion with the top visor, so that they're better aligned and fit more snugly against the dome portion. Once you get the fit set and you're sure everything looks good, then you glue the top visor to the face portion, and then you can mark and drill the holes for the rotator bolts.
  2. Hi, nice work so far. Before you drill the rotator bolt holes, you should bring the entire visor piece further back, so it sits mostly flush with the dome part of the helmet. Also, try and get the angle from the top portion of the visor to align with the lower/inside portion of the visor. If you reference this side view of an Altmann helmet, the front assembly sits more flush, and it's mostly one angle from the top part of the visor to the bottom face plate portion --
  3. The screen used pistols weren't weathered anyhow, so you should be good out of the box.
  4. Negative. It's not needed, and besides, the paint won't adhere to the rubber anyhow. The only part you need to paint is the metal trigger guard, which you should paint flat black with spray paint
  5. As Mickey said, hot glue is your friend when adding the lens. Your fingers might get tired, but you should be able to hold the lens in place until the glue dries enough to hold it there. Should only be a minute-ish or so. Pro-tip -- if you only glue the top and sides of the lens, and leave a tiny vertical gap between the plastic and the lens, it'll let the hot air out and you won't get any fogging. It's also totally unnoticeable from the outside.
  6. And if you do choose to add it yourself, make sure to reinforce the area around the cut with some extra ABS on the inside. That center seam can become a weak point with the cut at the bottom.
  7. Overall, you look pretty sharp. Good work. I recommend you try and attach your bund to your vest or flight suit. You can see it starting to droop under your chest armor a bit. Not required for basic, but you may want to round off those shoulder bell edges. That's up to you though :) Otherwise yeah, lookin' alright
  8. Hi, looking at the Google account images, I'd say yes, that's a trim line on the visor. I recommend that you keep testing the visor fit against the helmet dome as you trim and take it slow. It's hard to add material back if you trim too much!
  9. In addition to the excellent build thread already posted, there's also this one:
  10. Congrats and great work sticking to it. Don't forget to request access, pathfinder!
  11. Hiya, the places you've cut on the knees look a-ok so far. Just need to trim the bottom part and smooth out the corners.
  12. The first post in Strider's Lancer build thread has some pretty good photos of the trimming on the armor parts, including the knees. We can also advise more too, once you get your photos posted!
  13. Hey man, they clips shouldn't sit inside the det box. The clips go outside the det box. I riveted mine onto the tubing. See the example below: You can also see in Strider's Lancer build thread how he rivets in the clips as well. Even though he's wrapping his own cabling on the det tubing, the process should be the same. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/17305-lancer-build-tutorial/&page=3
  14. Excellent. Glad that you've been squared away. As for the helmet build instructions -- check this post:
  15. Hiya Sven and welcome to the pathfinders. If you haven't already, go ahead and request 501st member access here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/162-access-requests/ With the RS kit coming, it's looking to be a very exciting time to be a scout. I look forward to seeing your progress. Let us know if we can help!
  16. The one piece belt happened earlier than this most recent revision. My kit came with a one piece belt, which was a great addition. Looks like you can get the new kit trimmed or rough cut from SC, depending on how much you want to pay.
  17. Lol, yes!. I def recall the "fun" of heating the old ones up with a hair dryer and making the indents with a raquetball. Very interested to see who will be the first pathfinder to submit with the updated armor.
  18. I believe there are at least 1 or 2 scouts currently building the new SC kit, so we should hopefully see how they look assembled fairly soon.
  19. Aside from what you mentioned about the drop boxes being on the side, your strap widths look a-ok. Not needed for basic, but you might also want to flip the parachute buckles so the "slot" is facing the other way. Here's a photo from the screen used costume as reference:
  20. Hey there, if you're not looking to join the 501st, then you're welcome to customize as much as you want. For 501st approval, you're pretty much restricted to what's detailed in the CRL.
  21. This is the vinyl I ended up using when I built my boots. Fairly smooth surface without a lot of grain. https://www.fabricguru.com/marine-vinyl/marine-grade-vinyl-outdoor-upholstery-fabric-white.html
  22. Once you have 5 posts you'll be able to access the vendor forum. DVH posts his blaster runs there.
  23. Well, some of the parts look ok, but you'd definitely need to replace or mod a number of items prior to approval: The belt would definitely need to be replaced, as well as the knee armor. (That looks like snowtrooper knee armor?) You'd need to take the black mark off of the drop boxes. Also, the helmet nose greeblie would likely need replacing as well. (Looks like a sticker behind the engine part?) I understand that cost can be an issue, but given that there's already a few items that you'd have to replace out of the box, I'd encourage you to go with one of the vendors.
