  1. Hi Raj, you can absolutely ask questions and post updated photos in this thread. Looking forward to seeing your updates.
  2. Not really. It can go as fast or slow, based on the builder. Having pre-trimmed armor is definitely a big help, as all you'll have to work on is the strapping. If you've got a sewing machine and the ability to at least do minor alterations, that's another boost for finishing your soft goods as well. Back when I did my build, I put everything together off and on over the course of a number of weekends. I think it took me maybe a month and a half? I wasn't burning the midnight oil at the time, so it can definitely go faster if you've got the materials, skill, and motivation.
  3. I have a prospective scout working on a MC kit right now and it's quite good. Definitely one of the better kits available from a US seller. Obviously screen derived kits like RS are going to be more accurate, but there's a price point difference there as well. The MC kit comes pre-trimmed and the ABS is quite thick and sturdy. It'll definitely stand up to the rigors of trooping. My opinion, based on what I've seen, but I'd say his armor is best suited for medium and small size troopers. Cal tends to do them in runs now, so you'll have to catch him when he offers up a set for immediate sale and shipment. But yeah, good stuff.
  4. I like the hot knife too, but I wasn't able to find one with the "chisel" style blade.
  5. Hi Raj, and thank you for your application. First off, I ask that you please post your images directly in the thread. This helps make the reviews and feedback progress much more efficiently. Consider using dropbox or imgur for image hosting. We have some feedback, which is as follows: Helmet Due to lighting, we can't tell if rotator bolts are concave 3M style. Please take photos where the concave part of the bolt is more visible. Flight Suit Butt patch is too wide and too long. Take in approximately 1' from Left/Right and approximately 1.5" from the bottom. Gloves Holes in suede on left glove. Will need to be professionally repaired or replace with new gloves. Back Armor White dot on tank topper is large and out of proportion Optional elastic tank strap appears to be 1", should be 1/2". Cummerbund Pouches measure approx 7.5" L x 6" W Cod shape is extremely narrow, the overall shape should round out more. Bund velcro at back appears to be 1.5", it should be 2". Belt and Detonator Detonator tubing appears silver, color should be medium gray. There is considerable glue residue on end cap attachment, will need to clean out, or consider getting new end caps when updating detonator tubing. Boots Dog bones on outside of boots run onto boot soles. Please keep in mind, you can contact any of the Pathfinders Detachment staff for assistance. We're here to help you through the Level 2 process!
  6. When I did mine, I also heated the blade up a bit with a candle. The blade doesn't stay hot for long, but it helps to cut through much easier.
  7. Great work on those boot cuts! Those look really clean!
  8. Great suggestion spyder. Thanks for posting it!
  9. Interesting and thank you for the info. What's the weight of the fabric like on the navy suit?
  10. There's more specific info in the thread below, but unfortunately no direct links. Between google and facebook, you should be able to locate the vendors mentioned. If you're having trouble tracking a specific vendor down, let us know.
  11. Hi Chris, thank you very much for circling back on your Lancer application. Since your initial application two years ago, please keep in mind that there's been some changes to the Level 2 criteria. While it may look like a lot of connections below, a majority of these items are related to the changes in strapping widths that were a part of the CRL updates last year. Flight suit: -Butt flap is too wide. Remove approximately 1.5" from each side. Upper arm armor: -Elastic appears to be the older 1.5" elastic. Armor should be secured around the arm with a 50mm ( 2") black elastic strap. Chest armor: -Shoulder bridge straps are too wide. Should be between .5 inch and 1 inch wide. Back armor: -SC tank topper has hole in the greeblie instead of using a painted white dot. The hole should be filled in and then painted. Codpiece: -Sewn curve is positioned too high on the codpiece. Belt: -Webbing should be looped behind parachute buckles, buckles should also be centered. Knee armor: -Lower knee armor elastic should be 3/4". Also please pull up your left knee and center it if you can OPTIONAL: -You might want to add some stirrups on the legs of your coveralls to tighten the legs up a bit. Thank you again for your application. Please let us know if you have any questions.
  12. Also FYI, that reference shot was flipped in the film. Notice that the tank and helmet decals are also on the opposite side When in doubt check the crl!
  13. For reference, this is pretty much the only top down shot from the film that shows the holstered blaster:
  14. Hey there. Welcome! While the scout armor parts are fairly accommodating to many body sizes, you might want to talk to Spike on this forum who makes the Altmann armor and helmet. It's built for larger scouts. You can also take a look at the various scout vendors in this thread:
  15. Wow. Looks awesome! Def let us know if you do a patch run!
  16. By the way, I have a Pathfinders Detachment flag from the run they did on the legion board last year. Should I bring it for the group photo?
  17. No problem, bud. That's what we're here for.
  18. Hiya, here's some reference photos for you:
  19. Since you're trying to emulate the Leia capture scout, i'd move the 4 bars and top stripe down slightly. It is a little tough because the differences of the various vendor's tanks can make placement a little tricky. You should be ok for basic clearance.
  20. I used a piece of 1/4" volara foam to stiffen up my cod. Others have used buckram, or even cardboard. It also helps to make sure that you have the cod resting flat on the front of your body. Bunching is usually caused by a too tight strap pulling your cod between your legs.
  21. Hey Darrell, As Retrofire mentioned, I'd take a look at the link below -- it's a comparison of the various armor types and helmets out there juxtaposed against the screen used costume. While the scout costume is quite accommodating to different body types, there are some kits that are scaled better for larger folks -- Altmann and WTF specifically.
  22. That looks like an Altmann helmet to me. Made by our very own @spike
