  1. I've seen taller folks, like Stroker and Mickey, and they both wear the scout armor ok. (Of course, compared to me, everyone seems tall, lol) My opinion -- from the back, your SC armor does look slightly small on you, yes. I still recommend you keep trying to work the fit, because it's definitely something other tall folks have been able to do as well. We're always here to provide feedback and tips.
  2. I've never seen one of their helmets up close before. Looks excellent and thanks for sharing.
  3. Congrats dude!
  4. Hi Cole, from what you've shown, I think the armor itself should be fine. Mostly, it's just some tips about getting it to fit better on you -- You should pull up your back armor, so it sits higher on you -- that's a big gap between the front and back armor. Also, your forearm armor is on your biceps, and your bicep armor is on your forearms. You might also want to bring in the legs on your coveralls some more. You might want to put some velcro on the top edge your bund and the bottom edge of your flak vest, which will help keep it from dropping down.
  5. Scout helmets are painted, yes, though the rest of the armor is typically not painted with the exception of weathering. What make of helmet and armor do you have? The original helmets were painted "Ferrari white", but this is not necessarily a color that you'll find in most hardware stores. I used Rustoleum gloss white. Any white gloss or semi-gloss spray paint should work. I've heard that others look for "appliance white". If you're in doubt about the shade of white, you can paint a piece of scrap plastic and see how it looks when it dries. You'll need to prep your helmet prior to painting -- this involves sanding it with 600 grit sandpaper, then washing it to ensure that there's nothing on the surface to interfere with the paint adhesion. Make sure the helmet is fully dry before laying down any paint. Here are some basic tips for spray painting: https://www.doityourself.com/stry/5-tips-for-spray-painting-plastic Because spray painting can be tricky, you might want to practice on something else, or else you may end up doing a lot of sanding and re-painting. I also advise you pick up one of these. It attaches to the paint can and helps to apply the paint evenly. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Preval-vGrip-Handle-0202/203803591?cm_mmc=Shopping|G|Base|D24|Multi|NA|PLA|All_Paint_Smart|71700000048001153|58700004793621602|92700041080545837&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_Zuey-aR4wIVFoGzCh3qlwTdEAQYAiABEgIzrfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Remember, temperature and humidity can affect how the paint applies. Check what the ideal conditions are on the can, then check what it's like outside. Also, you might want to get a respirator, even if you're painting outside, since the fumes are definitely not good for you.
  6. Yep yep. Here's how mine is set up -- they're attached with velcro on the top tab of the pouch, and attach to the top of the bund. Optional, you can also sew a small square of velcro to the pack of the pouch and bund, which keeps them from flopping around all over the place. Up to you though.
  7. Looks good. Great work dude.
  8. Ah ok, so that would be the same scene as the images below -- Really tough to say. Could it also be an untrimmed lip from the mold?
  9. Wow I've never seen a camo pair before. Nice score.
  10. Based on the helmet, that looks a lot like the stunt armor. What scene is the screenshot from?
  11. The suede riding patch def is one of the most challenging parts of a scout build.
  12. I will be collecting at Anaheim
  13. I would think that it's ok, though if you want to post up a photo of the kit laid out, we'd be happy to take a look.
  14. MLC is Mardon, which i believe is based in the Philippines. MC is Mon Cal aka Far Away Creations, which is based in Colorado. Mon Cal distributed Mardon helmets and the MLC vs MC abbreviations have led to some understandable confusion over the years :) Mon Cal is working on finishing his own helmet, which Greeny referenced. You can see some photos of it here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/20118-mc-scout-helmets-available-interest/&tab=comments#comment-184669
  15. I get why you rigged it up that way, though would check with your GML as well. The CRL actually the language "rivet" in the basic clearance section: "There are only two (2) visible rivets on the belt: one on each side toward the back to connect the webbing closure material to the plastic belt" The inside of the jacket looks ok for your suede riding patch. 👍
  16. Greeny speaks the truth. If you've got a photo color bar, you can shoot the various colors with that, which will help with any lighting and monitor calibration issues.
  17. I think the undersuit is finally finished. Now, I have no more excuses but to start working on the hard armor parts.
  18. Not that I can recall, but if you post some photos of what it the backside looks like, we could tell you if it looks the part or not.
  19. That looks really good so far. Good work.
  20. If that's a studio creations tank topper, it's a very very old one. The new ones do not look like that. https://www.studiocreations.com/howto/bikerscout/forsale_bike_replacementparts.html Jeff from SC is very responsive via email, so if you're in doubt you can send him a note as well.
  21. Hi Cole, thanks for checking in. I recommend not using gorilla tape for the stripes. Oracal vinyl striping tape is a good option. Are you doing 1, 4, or 6 stripes? The 4 stripe variant has thicker stripes than the other 2 types. If you're interested in a lancer build, I recommend that you also look at replacing that tank topper. I appears to be vacu formed? The original was cast in resin. You can ger a replacement tank topper from studio creations. Let us know if you have further questions.
  22. The weave seems fine for the pouches. My only hesitation would be the little brown flecks in the fabric. If you're planning on tea dying them and weathering your armor, then it may not be so obvious. Might be worth dying a test swatch if you want to go that way.
  23. Holster looks good. As for the grass -- nothing a little wet sanding can't fix.
  24. I'd bring it down a tiny smidge vertically, but yeah, looks about right. From the CRL:
  25. Can you post a photo of the boots you would like to use? The sole is the crucial part when considering boots. These boots ar very popular for boot builds and have the right sole color.
