My Lancer Scout Attempt (finally)
Chopper replied to mikemakesmovies's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
Shoot, that sucks man. If it makes you feel any better, I dropped my tank topper greeblie on the ground back when I was first finishing my scout. It exploded into about a thousand pieces. Given, this doesn't solve your issue, but hey, we've all been there before That does look like a fairly clean break. You could always re-glue it, sand the joins, then repaint the grey portion again. -
Did you need to heat bend the det tube?

Unfortunately, I think those soles tones differ too much to be useful without needing to paint them one color. -

There's no specific guidance on helmet position, aside from the fact that your chin shouldn't be super visible underneath the front of the face plate. Generally, i'd say the position of your helmet in your photo in page one was about right. -
Overall great. As a refinement, I'd say you could bring them in a teensy bit more, maybe a 1/2"? Even as is, your current set up shouldn't pose an issue for clearance.

I believe those images are from KriptonTop's Etsy store? If you message him beforehand, he should let you purchase the real suede coveralls, but with the mandarin collar instead of the flip down collar.

Imperial Boots Biker Scout Soft Parts
Chopper replied to Whiskey's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I like that attitude -
Jay, I know this has been a long build process for you, but that mon cal armor looks great on you. Super stoked to see that you're almost there. I think you could bring your cod up a bit (maybe an inch and a half?) and that should hopefully alleviate the crunchiness that's in the photo. The misaligned back bund seam is pulling the cod elastic, which is distorting it a bit as well. We can chat more about your bund issues in a bit. We'll get you sorted as best possible. As whiskey said, don't forget the shoulder bell elastic. And as you mentioned, the drop boxes need some adjustment to even them out. Looking forward to having you join as another OLG scout soon!

Hey, just to clarify, you will not need to create an eighth vent for Lancer.

Hey Joe, looks like the album requires permissions. I suggest you try drop box or imgur, so you can link the images directly to the forum. If we can see the images in the thread, then you'll get quicker and more efficient feedback. 😁

Well, the shadow scout is a specops crl, so you should check with them for specifics on best practices/what's allowed. https://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/login/ I know that many biker scouts use the king show boot as a base. Looks like they offer a black version as well: KINGSHOW Men's 1366 Water Resistant Premium Work Boots (7.5 D(M) US Men's, Black1366) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07979226Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ASKXCbNV0T232

I strapped mine with the 0.5" elastic, as well as some velcro tabs to keep it from rattling around.

Greeblies wampawear vs bikerchick
Chopper replied to Jakeputt's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Soft Parts
Thank you, Jake for continuing these discussions with Wampa Wear. Between Wampa and Gio, we'll hopefully have a few options for gloves in the near future. Regarding the padding, here's a few screenshots of the kashyyyk scout from the film. Based on the images, it looks like there's a little bit of padding. -
I could offer more with a 360 photo, but from what I can see, it looks fine for basic clearance. Some refinements that you may want to do to go the extra mile: You might want to take up the sleeves 3/4" to 1". Bring the drop boxes up about an inch. Center the dropbox buckles on the webbing strap.
-
The elastic strap is a good method. I use it myself. If you're feeling like you need more support, you could sew some loops onto your flight suit leg and then feed the elastic through them when you put your boot on.

Congrats!
-
Yeah, hopefully you won't have to re-shoot everything, and can just send an updated photo of the re-oriented det.
-
Oh ok. I also think you could clip the zip tie and then re-orient and re-mount the det box on the tubing with a new tie.
-
Shoot, I'm sorry, I should have seen this earlier today (still recovering from Celebration + travel...). I see one thing that your GML will ding you on for basic approval -- your det greebs are backwards. They should look like this: Should be an easy fix by clipping the zip tie and then re-mounting the det box on the tubing.

Hey Kyle! I think you've done a pretty thorough job of identifying where you need to tweak things a bit. You're on your way!

has anyone 3d printed a helmet????
Chopper replied to djaidan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Hey dude, you might want to get in touch with @emile1138. He's the only other person I can recall who has printed his own scout bucket and armor. Here's his build thread: There's also @MrPoopie who has created 3D files for scout armor. -
Ah yeah, that's very likely a side effect of the clearcoat causing some yellowing on the clear edge of the waterslide decal. Or if you haven't clearcoated it yet, then the waterslide decal itself has just yellowed, which can happen when they get old, but these sets shouldn't be that old.
-
Given that RS took their measurements off of a screen used helmet, I'd say that their decals are extremely accurate :) That said, fan sculpted helmets, such as the CB helmet, will have different proportions and dimensions, so the RS decals may not fit perfectly if you're using them on a different maker's helmet. The RS decals are also waterslide decals, so you wet them, let them dry in place, then clear coat them later.

Congrats Lancer!
