  1. I've definitely gone 6-8 hours at conventions before and my head never heats up, as most mention it's the layers that'll eat you up.
  2. Exact things I noticed too! Traps further and Sharper detail on LW. Insanely good Fan-Make to be off by such a small amount.
  3. For the parts that have turned yellow I would recommend trying a process called Retr0bright (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retr0bright) a fellow Scout that has a full MonCal kit used it on his and it was noticeably whiter. Painting is an option as well as Spike mentioned
  4. One of my issues with HFx is it tends to pop out of the holster with lots of movement (granted, getting down on the dance floor is bound to make that sort of thing happen)... but in the general sense, I almost never leave it in the holster for fear of it falling without notice. And since you're saying it fits a little better and holds down with some weight, makes my ears perk up a bit
  5. Looks solid if I tire of my Hyperfirm I'll definitely snag this
  6. Of course I love the Scout costume and helping others out.
  7. Biker Scout was the very first costume I ever built (admittedly, I did it TERRIBLY)... but with the help of BS.N and some great friends things have changed a lot in the past year. I want to thank you all for being the community that you are and creating a positive learning environment. All our command staff and members are great individuals. But, of course a special mention goes out to Mickey. He is absolutely a great mentor, bold and honest, but that's the sort of thing you need to hear when you're working at achieving better. I appreciate every minute he took out of his day to review photos and offer suggestions. Thank you.
  8. If my helmet shows up with light damage I'll likely just ask for a partial refund and do the work myself, too much trouble to send it from the states... but if it comes in completely damaged then that'll be sent back. I agree with the others thought about expecting higher quality props with that price point. A professional finish should look professional and not like they rushed it out the door.
  9. SC is a great budget helmet (especially if you're buying the armor already). Accuracy? Not really there, but it serves well to get you through the troops.
  10. Mickey reached out to me via Facebook and we discussed the visible stitching on the Pouches (a Lancer CRL no-no), this has been resolved.
  11. *bumping* In case this got buried with other notifications otherwise, ignore. Just anxious to know if there is anything else needed. Thanks!
  12. I don't really have any complaints on my end considering the wait that Wave 1 went through.... ... and even worse for those waiting EFx with the production delays unforeseeable
  13. Exciting news Shaun! Ours are in that mess of Wave 3 EDIT: well not in that exact photo, since those are Wave 2, but you know what I meant
  14. Very cool stuff! Pepakura has always fascinated me. Will you be able to make the Visor/Faceplate flip up and separate from the base of the helmet like the standard helmets available?
  15. It'll all sort of become "one color" at some point with wear-n-tear and natural sun damage, unless it really bothers ya, I'd suggest as others have to just let it be. But if you do go the paint route, it sounds like 'Torm' above has you covered sanding and cleaning for prep
  16. Kevin Weir is a great guy, local to us SoCal guys. Does outstanding work, I'd trust him for that sort of stuff
  17. I'm still pretty excited about RS. I checked out Mickey's in person and even with the minor defects like decal peeling a tad and a "little" overspray on the snout... I'd say it's a really nice bucket. Don't own a LW, but can pick up based off the numerous photos and positive comparisons that his stuff is absolute quality.
  18. The second gloves look much closer, but definitely gonna take some work. The cracking you might not be able to repair, but you could possibly color in the spots that show? Unsure... not a professional with leather works! Understandable about keeping the costs down, the overall project does add up and saving every-bit you can helps... But, I'd still recommend spending the little bit extra on WW since the gloves will be in brand new condition, spot-on replicas, and if they don't fit he offers exchanges. And there are various other ways to save money such as modifying your own RedKapp, sewing your own bund, flak vest & cod, constructing your own boots. If you have the skill-set those are great ways to save HUGE on this costume.
  19. Very smart idea
  20. Stitching on the inside would probably need to resemble something like this. It's pretty close looking that's for sure... if you're a handy person can totally understand the value of making the changes yourself, but if you aren't WampaWear does offer them complete for a little bit more.
  21. I used the condor pads that SC's kit came with, keeps the head and place and allows for my glasses
  22. Updated Photos with Dressing Corrections 5 Ribs Brightened Photo to show off harder to see areas
  23. Yeah. It's like suggesting a helmet, there's one for everyone... just gotta figure out what best fits for you (literally)
  24. I wear glasses under my SC helmet
  25. Same here. I'm honestly very happy with my SC Bucket for trooping and don't mind the wait at all... if anyone is waiting for their RS bucket before completing their Scout, I feel for them... Personally, I believe most people would be much happier with Costume/Prop shops if they just honestly communicated with the customers who paid them. Making false-promises even well-intended ones can be more damaging than good, I'd rather hear "Hey guys, we got locked up on production and right now we had to shift focus. We appreciate your patience" then "We're gonna start them up next week!", because at least with the first answer you can quietly put that on the back-burner instead of getting a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel.
