The grey symbol is the correct one, the black fish hook one can be found on some older helmets but is no-go for acceptance under the basic CRL. Don't know where a high res image is but if you're looking to purchase the helmet decals they can be found on trooperbay http://trooperbay.com/sw-scout-helmet-decals.html

These really remind me of the models that come out of our MJP 3D Printer here Very cool, I'm sure you'll be able to fix the issues
-
Not sure about the pricing, but another bump for Gabe. He's a nice dude in person and he'll take care of you, personally wish I knew he was around before I dove into doing the leg work myself
-
Yeah, I wish I had better advice mine came pre-cut and thin from SC so it was just a matter of making the cut in the faceplate to fit the lens
-
The elastics are great, I think I ended up picking up the 35mm at a store, somebody can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you're allowed to do the American conversion so 35mm is 1 3/8 inches, so 1.5 inches "should" be okay. Highlighted because I don't want you to say "Nexous said I could!"

Yeah, that's honestly pretty cool! Even if you end up jumping ships to the Spec Op forums, please keep this updated with W.I.P Would love to observe new ways of making armor.

I lucked out that I have a relatively small head, haha. Note that if you are going for Lancer that some of the strap sizings will be needed to change, since you're building from scratch I'd recommend doing this during the build rather than after (like me). Don't remember which, but check the Lancer CRL for the proper sizings
-
Yeah and the helmet comes pre-built ready to wear too Wasn't aware that the Altman was equal to KS in terms of sizing *adds to knowledge bin*... and this is why we have guys like Jim for a second and more knowledgeable opinion As for the SC for armor... I cannot say enough good things about Jeff and the service over there.
-
I used an x-acto knife, coping saw, and sanding paper to make the hole in my faceplate for my lens... don't know if that would also apply for cutting the lens? If it's too hard to do it looks like SC offers the lens pre-cut for $20, but not sure how that would fit into a KS bucket... if you're creative enough with glue you could make that happen?
-
It seems like that would be a good invest for you, worst case is if the helmet is somehow a little too big just add padding... so it wouldn't hurt. Not sure about the current wait time for KS armor though, so that'll be up to the fates

Best method yet

I like this idea little mods make a big difference

Yeah, I haven't put the brackets on my TD yet so I always find myself checking to make sure it didn't bump off. The nice advantage of a scout is you can comfortable walk and sit etc etc... but you also have some loose parts that you gotta check to make sure they aren't falling off

Congrats

In the earlier versions of my Scout the Bund sagged a lot too what seemed to do the trick was attaching the pouches to the chest plate. I considered suspenders as well, but in all honesty if your Bund is a good height and your pouches aren't dragging it, you should be alright without one. Sewing or attaching it to the Flak Vest seems like a good idea as well, more support.

Congrats! So many new lancers... bleh, I should probably finish up my changes and post up

I'm 5'9 and roughly 140-150, so SC is definitely a good fit helmet and armor kit wise. As for your second question, there is a Snow Variation that is considered 501st approved, but that's under the Blizzard Force detachment ref; http://www.501st.com...g:TS_Snow_Scout , a few members have built some awesome versions of the linked that look great... but personally the more I thought about doing one myself, I'd rather go with a 501st non-approved variation that looks similar to --

One of the things I plan on doing next month is getting a mic setup, mainly because I am tired of hearing "WHAAAT?" when trying to talk to others
-
I didn't get my SC Helmet pre-assembled, but my best guess is that the ear holes aren't pre-cut as his kit comes with decals in place of the holes... I don't believe for basic approval it is necessary to cut them out, but for Lancer and for extra ventilation you'll want to do that

Congrats

Mine aren't WampaWear but I've seen plenty of them in person and they look great! Also being readily available helps a lot too I had to hunt down a guy, so yeah, I'd say go with the wampa dudes
-
That looks awesome! Just some post-work and it'll be a nice (light) trooping blaster ... when I was starting out I wanted to make my blaster from one of the Acrylic plastic machines we had.... but that's not cheap stuff unfortunately.
-
That looks good for a filament printer! PLA in my opinion for those types of printers yield the best results, ABS typically requires a lot more of a controlled environment due to the nature of the material.

I'm glad someone from your garrison was able to help you out. ...As Chex mentioned, this is the absolute best place to go for a lot of in-depth information but a lot of that relies on yourself researching and checking the boards for the right information since most questions asked have been answered before. If that's not the sorta thing you're looking for, maybe seeking a fellow Garrison Scout to mentor and take you through the steps might be easier / more convenient.

She did my original Bund w/ Pouches & Vest as well. I like the Vest & Pouches, but the Bund was definitely a bit on the shorter side ended up getting my local tailor to make up a new one that looks and feels better.
