Yeah, to be honest, light weathering works well with Biker Scouts just because they are more in the field type of troopers. Scuff here and there isn't gonna do ya' harm
-
I know some of my fellow TKs have used car polish to clean their ABS kits, might be worth a try? Not 100% sure though
-
Pin Striping can be bought at a place like Autozone, the Greeblies can be purchased from multiple vendors... SC has them available for $18 (link), and the fabric to cover the gap can be purchased at JoAnn's or any other fabric store.

You're roughly my size so the SC Armor / Helmet should fit well. This was my first build too, so I'll try to give some advice... but maybe other can correct me and/or chime in too The helmet from SC should come w/ "Army Helmet" padding, try those out first and if it doesn't fit too well then go ahead with the headband if you feel that it's necessary. I took out the back padding and it still fits me snug w/ glasses on! Tool-wise, I'd recommend grabbing an Xacto Knife, Coping Saw, Rivet Gun, Heat Gun, Clamps, and E6000 / Zapagap.

- I believe the strap that goes side-to-side might of been where a chin cup once was, but likely got lost. I don't think that's required for Lancer anymore as it is "debatable", but you can double check the CRL on the forums to confirm. - For the mesh replacement, I think you can leave it open and paint the inside black if it isn't already. The purpose is to give it depth, but I can't speak of what is required because I haven't done so on my bucket yet. - You can try heating up the visor with a heat gun to try and push the visor in more... best advice I have on that - If the snout is a sticker, I think it's best you search for replacement greeblies. I'm still a little new to crafting, so I hope someone with a little more experience/knowledge can offer more advice

I think SC pieces are good too... so you've got options
-
I think you'll be very happy with the SC Kit / Helmet... I have little to no experience with crafting and it wasn't too much trouble putting that kit together.
-
I used black acrylic paint and gave it a matte finish, not sure what others did for theirs

I went with Redkap and it's been great so far, fitting wise it works and modding wise as everyone else has mentioned is fairly easy... I am not very good at sewing myself so I had a local tailor do it and he is a bit pricey, but overall I think I paid $30 for the suit and maybe $30 in materials + services to get everything sewn in.

From what I understand about the different vendors is that generally speaking KS Helmets run a bit on the larger side and SC Helmets run on the smaller side. Helmet assembly for the SC isn't too bad if you want to save yourself some money...If I remember correctly the helmet comes in four pieces; back, visor shield, face-plate, and top. But, totally understand having the helmet assembled there I enjoy my SC helmet personally, the Face-Plate lifts up all the way and allows for me to drink water or eat without having to take my helmet completely off.

The SC Armor & Helmet are fantastic! The guide provided in the kit is super good, but I would highly recommend referencing the forums on other builds because as I've learned there isn't just one-way to do everything As like Stasz said the boot guide here is great
-
This is something I'm struggling with too I have been trying to figure a way to have them attach to the Bund w/o OR minimal drooping, but no real success... I've heard attaching them to chest was an idea as well, but as mentioned less "screen accurate"... never-ending struggle

The weathering does seem a bit much
-
Congrats! Another person to look up to
-
Thanks everyone for the help, just got approved this morning awaiting TKID, will continue to work towards lancer.
-
Thank you I sent updated photos to my local Garrison and hoping these changes will be enough (along with removing the stripes we discussed earlier and the Bund strap being incorrect)
-
I had to re-do my belt, so I raised the drop boxes... I think they look significantly better than my previous ones
-
Once you get your hands on the armor and helmet kits that's when the real fun (depending on your definition) begins
-
They are the SC Clips! I saw some other ones on the forums I may want to snag, but for the moment they seem to hold up alright I wore them during Celebration and they survived a random kid dressed up as an Ewok slapping them
-
Okay, so I flipped the clips behind my Detonator so it should be correct now. As for the "knob", what's a good way if any to remove something that has been essentially super glued to ABS Plastic? Or would I be better off re-making down the road.
-
Excellent! Super helpful to know what sorta thing will hold me up from getting in. My app is under review currently and I'm already going to let them know when they respond that I am in the progress of making those changes. Stripes Removed (easiest) Bund being Fixed (Friday) and the TD being backwards, pretty sure I just need to flip it around... I think?
-
In all honesty, I will make a second pair. I "could" try to fix my current ones, but I've got a feeling that starting fresh will let me correct my mistakes a lot easier I'm making notes of everything you guys are mentioning about boots, like mirror the slips and that the closure is centered rather than slanted as they currently are.
-
Probably true, I'm not super great with sewing things... my undersuit was altered by a tailor etc etc, will see about trying to fashion a new cod piece down the road versus ordering an entirely new Bund.
-
Feeling that heat right now too ... I think all you can do it submit and get feedback and work off the feedback, everyone is here to help you out and get you on the right path, at least it has felt that way thus far. Hang tight, see where you're at and work out the kinks, one thing at a time.

@Chef, Yeah Bund-Wise I am thinking I'll need to get another one made down the road for Lancer. The Top-Crotch on mine is only reaching about 5.5 Inches, so it'll need to expand more. For Standard Clearance will mine be alright? I am hoping to get in at the very least and work my way slowly toward Lancer through replacements.
