  1. Thank you for taking the time to do this! This will be a huge help to our 3d printed Shoretroopers!
  2. Awesome @kayelbe! Scouts helping scouts
  3. Any patterns can be found in the pinned posts. We don't have patterns for everything. But some things -- like the cummerbund, are pretty simple to do without a pattern. That one is just a rectangle.
  4. Hey An As we said in the video armor party, you have a great soft parts maker right there in Pomona, @Chrisx909x So if you go that route, you're in good hands You can obviously save money doing your own soft parts, and there are a variety of posts on the different garments in the Soft Parts section of the armory. Check out all of the pinned posts: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/145-biker-scout-soft-parts/ Simple garments such as the cummerbund or the codpiece are fairly easy to make yourself. And the undersuit basically involves buying some coveralls and then making alterations to them. The vest is a bit trickier but still possible to do on your own. As well as the boots. Only you know your level of skill and how best to weigh what is cheaper in the long run. I would try contacting Chris and seeing how much all those things would cost first, then go from there.
  5. Welcome Seb! Wow that's some great work you've done so far. A few folks have taken the plunge and made their own soft goods, but it's definitely not all that common. Good to see! @KOtrooper and @Minimo are our resident ST experts so they will be sure to weigh in. And I'm an L2 Shoretrooper Captain so I'll be happy to help where I can. Best of luck on your build. Looks like you've made a great start.
  6. Excellent, looking forward to this! Let me or @MrPoopie know if you have any questions. Maybe @heartstopper85 can help too if he checks in
  7. The best? Imperial Surplus, hands down. 850 is fine, but they bill themselves as budget armor. The accuracy is not going to be there.
  8. Like @Dart said, the best base boot to get if you want to make your own is Crowprops. His soles are replicas of the original Sierra Sneakers used in ROTJ, and they are white.
  9. Looking good! I would say don't get too fixated on the paint not being perfect. You're going to have to mess it all up anyway! Having imperfect paint jobs just adds to the weathering.
  10. The production Scouts had a hard hat liner. RS Props includes this setup in their helmets I think most of us, including myself, use helmet pads. Like most things it's a matter of preference. I found the hard hat liners gave me headaches so I removed mine and replaced it with helmet pads.
  11. They look good to me. As long as they largely in the same style they should be fine for Level 1.
  12. During the worst parts of the pandemic we were doing them quarterly. But with things opened back up and people doing in-person armor parties, we've done them less because fewer folks were showing up. We'll check in a few months and see what's what!
  13. I know Kropserkel is winding down their business, but maybe they have some shield material they can sell to you. Give them a shout: https://www.kropserkel.com/imperial.htm
  14. Same, I can't even get the vest on without some help. With a clip at least I can do it myself. That was the idea behind it in the first place.
  15. Yes the strap should be really long. I think the number one reason for cod crunchies is a strap that is too short. Mine is about 2 feet long and I really think it could be a few inches longer. The strap should not be pulling tightly across your groin area.
  16. The film suits used a regular slider. I did a parachute clip so that I could remove it easily, without having to lace the cod strap through the slider. Doesn't dig into my back though. I don't even realize it's there what with all the other layers I got on. And we don't mention it in the CRL because... it can't be seen! If it can't be seen from the outside, we don't regulate it.
  17. @MrPoopie has 3d sculpted some 3M bolts already. Maybe y'all can get together on that and make sure they fit this bucket!
  18. The snout piece is just going to be a separate bit right? If you could do the same with the bolts that would be great. Maybe leave some rectangle shaped holes so people can use actual 3M bolts in there would be rad.
  19. Please do. We try to catch these guys while they are in the process of designing but too often we aren't hearing about the 3d models until it's too late and they're selling them on Etsy with incorrect features.
  20. I suppose you could velcro or sew it. We don't specify either way as it's an unseen detail. You can velcro on the inside of your armor. That's what I did on my first build. On my current armor set, I ran the strapping as a belt that runs through the entire chest and back
  21. Very nice! glad to see you are back at it.
  22. Because of our forum limitations, we can't host every user's photos onsite. We need to save what space we have for archival images, such as the Scoutopedia! But there are ways to add images to your posts. If the image is on the internet somewhere (found in a Google search or hosted on Imgur, Google Drive, etc) the way that seems to work the most is to right-click on your image, select "Copy Image Address" and then paste that link into your forum post. Within a matter of seconds, the link should change to your image. If you don't see "Copy Image Address", you may need to try opening the image in its own tab first (this is usually a choice in the right-click menu). Sometimes just clicking on the photo will enlarge it and you can "Copy Image Address" then. If your images are on your PC's hard drive or on your phone, they need to be put on the internet first -- usually on a photo hosting site like Photobucket, Imgur, Flickr, Google Drive, or Dropbox. Just keep in mind, they need to be on a public drive or you may need to create a share link first (like with Google Drive) Many of those sites have ways that you can "hotlink" your images for forum posts, but try the above method first. How to Embed a Google Photo Into a Forum Post: 1. Go to your Google Photos and use the share button on the photo you want to embed. 2. Select Create Link and copy the link it creates. 3. Go to https://www.labnol.org/embed/google/photos/ 4. Paste the link and click Generate Embed Code and it will provide an embeddable link. 5. Copy the Direct Image Link and paste that link in your post. How to Embed a Dropbox Photo into a Forum Post: 1. Upload the photo to a dropbox folder (I just drag them into the Dropbox folder of my computer's file manager). Make it easy on yourself and don't put any spaces in the file's name. Spaces in a link have to be represented by "%20", so it's best to avoid them. 2. Once it's uploaded to Dropbox, right click the file and select "Copy Dropbox Link" 3. On the forum, start a new post. Enter whatever text you want to put in before the photo is to appear. From here, you have two ways to go.... 4. You can click the button in the Lower Right that says "Other Media" and then choose "Insert Image from URL" 5. Paste in your Dropbox link AND CHANGE THE "www" to "dl". 6. Click "Insert into Post". Do this for as many images as you have. OR 4. If you feel comfortable editing in HTML, click on the upper left button that says "Source". The contents will change to HTML. 5. Paste in your link. It will appear something like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3ui19u5g3nurir9/3.5.22.jpg?dl=0 6. Edit the link to read as follows (using the above as an example): <img src="https://dl.dropbox.com/s/3ui19u5g3nurir9/3.5.22.jpg?dl=0"> NOTE: Do not forget to change the "www" to "dl" 7. Click "Submit Topic" and enjoy your pic! Here's the one I used as an example:

  23. You got a pretty good guide for it in your post above: You know the side strap is 1.5 inches, so that should give you an idea how much bund goes under the armor.
  24. Not all productions helmet have that. Many had it as two separate vents. Theory is that the mold got soft from use and two vents blended together during production.
