  1. Isnt that the detonator next to the right leg armor?
  2. @MrPoopie any thoughts for our friend?
  3. Still waiting on the event details from GGG and the organizers. Hopefully we can get hotel information once all that is squared away. Our goal is still to get a ROTJ pic at Cheatham Grove on June 3rd and hopefully participate in whatever event is decided on for that day. Will post more info as I get it!
  4. @Hask want to take this one?
  5. Greetings Paul! Happy to help you get on your way to approval! Not sure when this suit was approved, but it needs a bit of work to bring it up to basic. Here's a few things I can tell (some of your photos are set to private and I can't zoom in). 1. The boots seem like a total loss. I'd just get a new pair -- make sure you remove the holster first! You will need that. 2. Knees are upside down. This isn't "The Mandalorian"! 3. Dropboxes are hanging kinda low, I would shorten the straps and bring them up closer to the belt. And while you are at it, the straps should go under the buckles in the back instead of in front. Oh and since you are fixing the straps, those white rivets on the belt need to be replaced with silver. 4. I think the issue with the chest and back armor is that the plastic shoulder straps are too long. You should probably trim them so they meet centered on the top of your shoulder. It's looking right now like the loop is what is holding them together. That strip of fabric is just there to mask the join. It shouldn't be doing any of the joining. Most of us run a strip of velcro under the straps to actually hold the pieces together. 5. That cummerbund has ribs in the back and front -- so it's a total loss. But they are easy enough to make yourself if you have a sewing machine 6. Similarly the codpiece isn't great and I'd probably redo that too. 7. I'm not seeing the thigh straps or the thigh suede on the jumpsuit. Nor the butt flap. Not sure what is happening with the collar area either. It looks like you will have to make all the mods for the suit 8. The right pouch looks pretty good but the left is a little misshapen? It almost looks like they are a mismatched set. 9. Gloves seem fine. Overall -- the armor you can work with. It's the soft goods that need the most work. Check out these threads for some pointers: Let us know if you have any questions! We are here to help.
  6. Amazing work! I haven't heard from Denis in forever. The vendor info was just an oversight. I've gone through and updated it, although I'm sorry to say we don't have any new vendors to fill some of those gaps.
  7. Thank you for your application! The L2 team will review this and get back to you with any notes.
  8. The good thing about the Montana paints is that they seem to have better international availability than many other brands. So it's a good option to have. But of course as we get more info we correct and carry on. Anyone already approved will be grandfathered in so no worries there!
  9. That looks excellent! Thanks for doing that
  10. Excellent. I have already started drafting the language in the very first post. I have removed photos where we will need new ones for the CRL. The big areas of focus are: The chest armor The shoulder bells The hip armor The holster The sidearm Everything else seems pretty much the same or close enough that it doesn't need changing. (Like I'm not adding that one belt box should be crooked -- that seems like a mistake). Let us know how you progress with this!
  11. Cool! I think we got that all cleared up. Thanks This most important thing with this guy is getting that holster and new weapon done. Do you have access to those?
  12. Check out this post I think Chopper's comment above convinced me. I'm #teambeigechestindent now
  13. Do we have more evidence the indent wasn't painted, because here it looks like it was:
  14. Yeah that looks really great! Looking forward to your results. Make sure you take a pic with the sun blasting on it!
  15. Yes I get my Montana paints from the Blick store in Pasadena, CA. They were out of Polar Blue that day but Flipper was pretty close
  16. Great! With this variant you will also need the new holster and that new sidearm. He also seems to wear his thigh armor hiked up a bit more than the Scarif troopers
  17. Yeah I'm guessing it will be something like that!
  18. Marble I think goes a bit too much into gray. Which I guess isn't too far off the mark with the onscreen appearance in some shots (especially in the beginning of Ep 7) but we know they used pastel blue and I think we should keep it in that ball park. The photo of the actor without helmet probably gives us our best image to try to match and I think that's where Polar Blue, Flipper or Fresh Blue make the most sense. At the end of the day, these will only be suggested colors. The CRL is probably going to say something to the effect of "Light pastel blue". My aim is just to make sure that troopers are using very light blues and not blues used by Scarif troopers (like Himalaya or Ford Nordic)
  19. The "loops" never look right to me because they tend to bow in the center, which we never see in the films. Given the ziptie anchor attachment under the join and the fact that in some screenshots you can see what looks like fraying around the edges of the strip, my guess is it's just a strip of what looks like 1 inch elastic glued over the join. It's not been immortalized in the CRL right now because a loop at least looks correct from the outside. We never judge the costumes by what happens on the insides!
  20. Sorry I was late to respond! We absolutely love doing Zoom armor parties. The thing is, the last few have pretty much just been Command meetings with maybe one or two people popping in to ask a question. It seems that since live armor parties started up again, less folks show up for the Zoom ones. But since I love chatting with Command on Zoom, we can certainly schedule one and if people want to join they can!
  21. We have a pretty solid list of Shoretrooper vendors here: As for tools -- Dremels are always great. Lexan scissors for cutting plastic. A leather punch for putting holes in the belt for Chicago Screws. Or the plastic for adding snaps. A snap tool! Sanding blocks. Different types of glues. Lots of painters tape! A good way for seeing what is needed is by reading through some of the WIP threads on the forum. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/forum/129-shoretrooper-wip/ Any questions at all just post them up. We have a great Shoretrooper Armor Team of @KOtrooper and @Minimo
  22. THANK YOU PATHFINDERS! It seems that after 5 years, you all aren't sick of me yet. I want to thank you all for allowing me to continue on in the role of Detachment Leader -- and especially for such an important year to the Pathfinders: the 40th Anniversary of "Return of the Jedi". Every costume in this Detachment has spiritual lineage going back to the ROTJ Scout Trooper, so it's wonderful that we get to celebrate the trooper that started it all. We didn't want to waste any time getting the 40th Anniversary celebrations underway, so most of our plans for the year have already been laid out: you've seen the 40th anniversary design that will be used for a lot of the merch this year. We also have our June 3rd meeting at Cheatham Grove (in coordination with Golden Gate Garrison and the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission) -- and at the end of the year we are still pushing for a huge turnout of Scouts (and other ROTJ kits) for the Hollywood Christmas Parade, which I believe will be November 26, 2023. Coming up in April, Celebration Europe returns to London for the first time since 2016! And though I will not be able to make it this time around, we will still have a Pathfinders photo scheduled after the main Legion photo on Saturday 8 April at 12PM. I can't wait to see you all in gear in London! https://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=249&t=112007 CRLS! We finished out the last term with the Treadspeeder Driver from "The Rise of Skywalker", a CRL that had been many years in the making. Right now, the only potential CRL in the works is the Shoretrooper from "Andor". The biggest issue with that one is just nailing down the right shade of blue! But with a full slate of Disney+ shows coming in 2023, I will be watching with notepad in hand, ready to see any potential CRLs that would be a good fit for the Pathfinders. And along with any new CRLs, I will, of course, be doing videos this term. My plan is to do an updated ROTJ Scout CRL video, with an emphasis on the build process. Additionally, because we have the 5 year anniversary of "Solo" in May, a Patrol Trooper CRL walkthrough is also in the works! We know a lot of you want to build a Patrol Trooper, but have been stymied by the lack of jacket makers. We have been working with Crowprops to see if Gio can offer one. We hope to be able to help in this area soon. MERCH! Most of the merch this term will revolve around the ROTJ 40th Anniversary, using the logo Pete Hague designed for us. I am really thrilled about the response to the Pathfinders Baseball Jerseys, but I promise we will do another racing shirt this term! STAFFING! Every year around this time, I get messages from various folks along the lines of "Hey, I'm not doing [FORMER LEGION JOB] anymore, so if you need any help over at Pathfinders, I'm willing to join Command!" All these offers are appreciated, but there's a few things I should address about this: 1. My number one criteria for adding anyone to staff is this: DO THEY PARTICIPATE ON THE FORUM? Are they on here everyday, doing the work? When someone says they want to join the Detachment, first place I head is here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/leaderboard/ I can see at a glance who has the most posts and who is getting the most upvotes. I will always reward folks who are here day in and day out over folks who just want to pad out their resume or get access to Command merch (and folks -- it's been years since we've done Command exclusives, so you're barking up the wrong tree!). If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times -- there's a massive difference between trooping in a costume and building one. If you troop for your Garrison a lot and put in a lot of time doing events -- that's probably where you should offer your services! Detachments are about writing, research, and staring at screenshots until you go cross-eyed. Trooping has very little to do with what goes on here. 2. Do they have unique knowledge? I've got plenty of ROTJ Scout experts. That's not an area that needs bolstering. Usually when a new Armor Team member is added, it's because they are servicing one of our other costumes, like the Patrol Trooper or the Kashyyyk. Or they are doing a special job -- like PR. We got plenty of folks that can say "Yup, that codpiece looks good" already! 3. Is there a need? I don't add staff just to add staff. And this term for the first time there's been no turnover. For some reason, all these nuts want to stay in the nuthouse So while I appreciate the offers, at this time, the Detachment is in good hands. Well that's all for now! I look forward to another fun year! Mickey Bukowski TB/ST-81974 Pathfinders Detachment Leader (2018-Present)
  23. Just a good general rule with the Mandalorian Scout -- don't read the ROTJ Scout CRL at all. The Mando Scout CRL has all the info you need to do the costume. I find a lot of people confuse themselves going back and forth doing a compare/contrast when there's no need to. They are two different costumes with two different sets of requirements. If something is on one and not the other, it's because it's supposed to be that way. Any armor will meet the requirements for the Mando Scout, but the WTF armor (not the helmet) was what was used on the show.
  24. MonCal sells a very accurate bucket too!
  25. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TB_Treadspeeder_Driver Folks, after 3 long years, the Treadspeeder Driver is now a live CRL ready for GML approval! This one had a long, tough road. Which I guess is fitting for this character and what he drives. First, he was part of a friendly game of hot potato between us, FISD, and ACD ("no you take it", "no you!"). Then he got caught up in the pandemic. And then went through builder after builder who started it, and then had to abandon the project. Five times as a matter of fact! Finally, at the beginning of last year, @MrPoopie and I recruited a great builder from our Garrison, @JollyRajR to finally get it done. Although the Tread is part FOTK, he also needed some custom parts, which MrPoopie designed and 3D printed. I'll be the first to admit this one wasn't a favorite of mine when we first inherited it: I'm not a huge fan of the sequel trilogy designs, and this one seemed a bit tossed together compared to some other troopers from those films. But as time went on and we got to working on it, I came around to the ol' Treadspeeder Driver, and I'm pleased to say the Pathfinders now have their first (and likely only) CRL from the sequel trilogy films. I'm hoping this CRL might be a good add-on for FOTKs who want to be able to sit down from time to time. Using their current kit, and swapping in a few parts, they could do this one pretty easily. Also -- we only did the live action Treadspeeder Driver. There is still the CGI version, who has quite a few differences from this one. If anyone is interested in tackling that, please let us know! Thank you all who made this happen, not only the folks mentioned above, but people who chimed into the research threads, like @gmrhodes13, @Pyro, @Wompet, @Hask and many others. All of you helped play a part getting this across the finish line. And of course -- I want to thank @mrrikki and the rest of the LMO team. As always, they were an absolute pleasure in helping us bring another Pathfinder CRL onto the roster!
