  1. --- The connection of the pouches can be recognized very well in the frontal zoom view of the blu ray showroom feature. Looking at it you see that these seem to be sewn on directly to the cummerbund. They appeal to mee too tightly attached to the bund to be velcreod on or something like that. As Gino already said that everything is kind of hung or attached to the vest it makes no sense to have them connected to vest and bund as bund and vest still seem to be independent items. If they were connected to the vest there would be no connection to the bund and if there was no connection to the bund the extensions of the pouches wouldn't sit so tight to the bund. The pic on the right is great because you can clearly see that the codpiece is separate from the bund, and actually goes under it, where it presumably connects to the vest. Gino has already said that the flak vests are much longer than the half-shirts we currently use.
  2. SC armor is great, has some fast turnaround times. MC from what I understand can have some long waits. I have SC and am very happy with it. No opinion on either the SC or MC helmets (and actually, MC doesn't make a helmet, they sell the MLCs). I have a KS helmet, which is lightweight ABS and I'm happy with it.
  3. Yeah the heat gun is not for everyone. I was able to glue my SC belt together just fine without it. Using E6000. Then again, we don't have a humidity issue here in the deserts of Southern California.
  4. Hahaha yeah I think we've all got that book on pre-order
  5. So there was a long-sleeve undershirt, along with an undersuit, vest, cummerbund and codpiece? That's a lot of layers!
  6. Well, here goes nothing.... My boots, bund and pouches were done by Marcel so they should already be up to snuff Armor - SC Bucket - KS Gloves - SA Vest - Cucblack Undersuit - homemade from a Red Cap Blaster - Negative Eleven If you need better pics of anything, let me know
  7. Yeah I always thought the codpiece was some sort of waterproof synthetic material with some thick batting in it. Seems even more likely now that we know it isn't part of the cummerbund.
  8. I'm inclined to agree. The material that Gino posted doesn't look all that stretchy. But a non-stretch strap wouldn't be practical for us. It's one thing when you have a costume made for a film -- you just hire actors and stuntmen to fit the costume. But in our case we are tailoring our costumes to fit a variety of builds. Elastic is a lot more forgiving.
  9. I got a pre-assembled KS. It's a fine lid. Needs some modifications to make it more screen accurate, but is good enough for 501st clearance as-is.
  10. This stuff is all brand new to us. You could still get clearance with the regular style cummerbunds we've been using all this time. We're just trying to figure out this stuff based on the new details. I'm very curious to see what Christian comes up with. I'm going to mess around with it myself this weekend.
  11. Yeah it's a good bucket, and looks pretty good once you make the more screen-accurate modifications.
  12. Yeah you're right. the Makita clips are pretty much 2x2. Well put me on the list for your new clips! Everything I've read on the issue said the scout costumes were made in California, and shipped to the UK for when they were needed in studio.
  13. Once again, you made my day, Gino! Looks like we're gonna need a bigger flak vest!
  14. Those look like the Makita drill clips I bought for my TD
  15. Oh it's definitely a shadow. But that shadow is caused by the fact that the bund and codpiece are separate, which Gino was good enough to confirm for us. I've been through all the screen caps, trust me. Enough to drive myself nuts. It was nice to hear my suspicions confirmed. And yes, I know this is a prototype. I even noted that in my post!
  16. It was the prototype pic that got me thinking about the bund and codpiece being separate. The separation is very obvious here
  17. Oh totally! I get we were all working from not-so-complete info. And yes, I will be doing the same this weekend. The cummerbund has always bothered me and this has helped so much.
  18. Or the vests are more like shirts than the half shirts that a lot of us use....
  19. Yeah it was obvious in some pics that the bund would hang out over the belt. Now I know why! Again, I feel less like a crazy person!
  20. DUDE!!!! YOU JUST MADE MY DAY!!!! I don't feel like a crazy person anymore! Thanks!
  21. Yeah the bund seems to be the one thing that doesn't get nailed down right around these parts. So we have all kinds of wild conspiracy theories about why the screen bunds looks so much different than the ones that we make ourselves. Here's a few questions/comments and whatever you can answer would be most appreciated! 1) So it looks like the strap starts from the bottom of the codpiece and snaps to the back of the bund? Just asking because mine is the opposite, the snap is at the bottom of the codpiece and the strap starts from the back. 2) Is there some kind of different batting in the codpiece that keeps it nice and flat like your life-sized models (and the film scouts)? Because a lot of us suffer from the old moose knuckle or else the cotton beneath the chevron just looks wrinkly. 3) This is the one that keeps me up at night: is the bund made of cotton or a synthetic material? Because in some screenshots it appears to have a sheen that makes it look almost like a nylon. 4) And another wild conspiracy theory: on some of the prototype scouts, it doesnt even look like the bund and codpiece are one unit, that there is a gap of some sort -- any light on that one? Any pointers are appreciated!
