mlbukowski's sc armor build
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
They said that the hold up was due to them having to remaster the moulds for their helmets. Maybe this means some of the problems folks have been seeing from KS pulls from the last few years will be addressed. -

I got one from a military surplus store. Please, if I ordered it from KS I probably wouldn't get it for a year and a half! -
SC puts together a great package. Pretty much have everything you need in one box. You should be pleased with it!

Scout.Trooper's Scout Trooper Build!
BikerScout007 replied to scout.trooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Oh, I'm pretty sure that you can use 1.5 elastic on the chest piece. I believe that was changed.... or is going to be changed... or something. I'll need to find the thread. But that's what I ended up using, because 2 inches is clearly too wide based on screenshots from the film. -
Two sandwich boxes. Done and done!

I got my 2 inch elastic from Joanne Fabrics. Amazon has this: http://www.amazon.com/Stretchrite-2-Inch-10-Yard-Stretch-Elastic/dp/B0018N5MS8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398366808&sr=8-1&keywords=2+inch+elastic -
I used a heavy duty needle, but the pigskin suede that you get from Tandy leather is very thin.

The legs look baggy in the top pic because the seams of the legs are busted open! That's before I sewed the thigh patches and elastic on. That stuff is all on now and the fit is nice and snug. Yeah still have to get the foam piece for the camel toe!

Done!

Scout.Trooper's Scout Trooper Build!

well you dont have to do the whole leg just the part opposite the patch. That way you can lay the pants flat without worrying about stitching through to the other side. Then when you are done, you just sew the leg seam back up. You could also use that as an opportunity to bring in some of the bagginess of the coveralls, depending on the size of your legs. I dont know if there's an easier way. That's the way I....I mean my mom.... did it! Oh and to sew it back up you would just turn the leg inside out and sew it back together -
Like so:

It would probably help if the CRL offered a range of sizes based on what was easier to acquire in a particular troopers locale. I've used the Lancer specs to guide my build, I'm just not going out of my way for 35mm elastic since I can get all the 1.5 inch I'd know what to do with at Joanne's Fabrics. And IMHO, there's a stronger argument that the movie scouts probably did use 1.5.

They seem to be correct as far what's been agreed upon. I looked over my Return of the Jedi blu ray as reference and couldn't find any evidence of the thigh patches even being on the suits. The elastic straps seem to come right under the butt. They are hard to see, but they are there:

Ha! Yeah but only for the patches and the boots. Dude's collar is wrong, the vest sleeves are too long, the holster is strapped to the boot and he has a weird gap between the belt and the cummerbund. He'd never make Lancer!

Curse my big head. I would have been much happier ordering from SC. Even if I had to assemble it myself. -

Jeez. Well I hope you get your tracking number soon. But if you get yours before I get mine I'm going to go nuclear... because I ordered mine two weeks before you did. -
