That looks pretty normal to me, dude!
-
You can see my chin cup a little bit when I'm wearing my KS, but it's not much different than what you see on screen in ROTJ
-
The KS is too small? That's usually the go-to for bigger heads. Maybe adjust the foam inside of it?

efx limited edition bucket question
BikerScout007 replied to Ghalgor's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I have an ABS helmet and it is really light for trooping. I have friends who troop in MLCs (also fiberglass) that have mentioned they feel heavy after awhile. And ABS is what the screen scouts wore. The RS Props scout helmet is ABS if you're looking for one that is made from the originals. -
Look at that screen accurate bad boy!
-
A lot of us use duck cloth, but I agree with Chef -- sometimes the bund has a sheen to it.
-
Congrats, buddy!

Yes definitely. One of the reasons why I wanted to change out KS's foam was that it was making the helmet sit too far above my shoulders. I have a long enough neck as it is. You'll want to try it on and see how it looks when you are suited up
-
I got mine preassembled too. I took out the big foam strip that KS puts at the top of the bucket and replaced it with the foam disk in this pack. Works way better: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A4TNQ8A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I put 1/4 inch foam padding in the codpiece I'm currently using, but I'm going to try 1/2 inch and see how it turns out. And I agree, it shouldnt go between your legs.
-
Stuntmen were consulted on the design of the scout (since it was such a stunt-heavy costume) so that is certainly a possibility.
-
Right but to get the bagginess the cod would still need to be of a certain length, a length much longer than the distance between the bottom of the belt and the wearer's crotch. Which means that it would necessarily have to go under the bund a few inches. Which we already know it does. It seems the bund is simply just a tube designed to hold pouches and cover up the the connections between the cod and the flak vest.
-
My thought was that the cod strap connects to something on the back of the vest that is adjustable, and not just sewn on as ours are. Gino mentioned there was a slider on the back of the flak vest that the strap attached to. That way the length could be adjusted based on who was wearing the uniform. Your 3rd point would then just be the belt pulling in on the cod. That guy on the far right looks like he's "pitching a tent". hahahaha

Flip that greeblie over on your TD if you want it to be Lancer spec.
-
Oh sure, just to be clear, I dont think that a gap should necessarily be seen. Just that the bund should stop closer to the top of the belt than the bottom. I notice a lot of scouts wearing their belts too low because their bunds are too long. The belt should rest on top of the hips. Yeah I went with 8 inches on mine, and it was a big improvement. But I'm not done experimenting. If you look at the scout codpieces on screen, they are pretty damn big and they dont fit quite so snug up against the wearer as many of ours do, due to ours being connected to the bottom of the bund
-
Looks really good! I guess you are going for Lancer? My two bits: 1) Looks like your bund is peeking out from under the belt 2) Dropboxes might be hanging a little far down your thighs. Might want to shorten the straps a bit. The movie scouts wore the boxes pretty close to the belt.
-
Absolutely! I could talk about codpieces all day! Wait... did I say that out loud?
-
Chef Yes, sometimes the guys were in rubber armor so they could be flipped over without being injured. Like I said, they did this to Fett too. This is hardly the same thing as the hero/stunt paradigm with the TKs, where it was based more on what looked better on film. I'll see your screen cap and raise you two: Both instances you can see the bund coming over the belt and how short it's actually supposed to be. Of course, all three of these screen caps are showing the back of the scout, so they aren't exactly dispositive of how the codpiece joins in the front. The testimony from the LFL guys, my guess, was probably a miscommunication based on the questions being asked secondhand. All I know is Gino's scout is the best looking fan made scout I've ever seen, and the first thing that jumped out at me when I saw it was that the bund/cod/belt actually looked screen accurate. And that storm commando cod looks great! Right on.
-
I have the KS. Yes it has accuracy problems right out of the box but they are easily fixed. The helmet is lightweight and spacious. I trooped with a fellow scout two days ago who has a MLC. After about an hour or so into the troop, he mentioned that the fiberglass was starting to feel heavy. I've also let some folks who were curious about being a scout but were nervous about the bucket sizes try on the KS -- they were all convinced that that was the way to go.
-
Well if you go by Gino, the cod attaches to the vest, but the flak vest is longer than the half shirts we wear. More like a normal shirt. So it would connect right behind the bund. And yes, the guy you are describing is rubber armor guy -- the scout I referred to above. They used rubber armor for stunt scenes for several characters, including Boba Fett. There's evidence for a lot of things, but I think there's more than enough evidence to prove that the codpiece is not a small triangle shape that connects to the bottom of the bund. The bund seems to stop right at the belt, and the codpiece seems to be a long, almost tongue-like shape that connects behind the bund.
-
I think the scout that Han Solo flipped over had rubber armor. I doubt that would affect the soft parts, i.e., the bund and cod But they did rubber armor for Boba Fett's fight scenes too. There's a big difference between that and making a sitting scout/standing scout.
-
I don't think so. The scouts were designed specifically to be a stunt-intensive costume. We're not like TKs where we can't even bend over. Everything about this kit was made to run, jump and move around. There wouldn't be much point in making one for standing and one for sitting.
-
If it's one piece that still doesnt mean our one piece bund/cods are how the originals were constructed. There's no way that this codpiece is not connecting somewhere behind the bund:

Darth Voorhees' Shadow scout build!

I second this -
So then what happens next? Did Shaun get in and just never return to BS.n like so many others? Did he run into some unforeseen difficulty that kept him from getting his TK-ID? THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME
