  1. Totally making sense and that's probably a good idea. Although I would be interested to see how pouches with your original measurements came out
  2. Dang I dunno if anyone would have noticed that if you hadn't pointed it out If it's a problem a little bondo should fix it up!
  3. Since you are in the Great White North you may want to get in touch with Dart http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showuser=15056
  4. Added you to the roster, buddy!
  5. If it's hidden by the TD and you can't see them, I imagine you can use whatever you would like. Nothing more than rivets and velcro are needed though!
  6. You mean the rivets? I used the same 1/8 rivets anywhere riveting was needed on this costume
  7. Well I am a scant 6'0, my pouches are 6 inches tall..... and I still think they look too big. That's me in the middle. The fellows to my left and right have the 7 inch boxes and they look oversized. I'm going to try 5.5 inch pouches next and see if they look more accurate. I'm also going to grab a measurement off Gino's scout when I see it at Celebration. The pouches used in the film just seem to take up much less real estate on the cummerbund than the ones we make. When lined up against the outer edge of the chest armor, they don't even touch the outer ribs of the cummerbund. So either our pouches are too wide, armor is too narrow, or bund ribs are too wide.
  8. I think the pouches are a bit rectangular. So maybe 6 x 5.5 x 2. All I know is the vast majority if Scouts out there have pouches that are way too big and it's funny how many err on the side of being too big rather than too small. I think a lot of comes from wearing the armor wrong. The belt should be on your waist (so across your belly button) and the chest armor should be worn up high. Pouches should pretty much fit in that gap. Note the cummerbund is not much bigger than the pouches.
  9. Reduce them in size. 7 inches is too big. I would do 6.
  10. It is one strap all the way through. Attached to the belt in the back.
  11. I agree. 7 is too big. It's either 6 or 5.5
  12. It's not any one particular armor maker, most sets have this same issue. The only one I've seen that comes close is Strider's
  13. Pouch size looks good, although it's on the wrong side You may want to make the angles sharper on the bottom portion of your codpiece. And this picture is a great example of how much the armor makers need to redo their chest pieces and make them smaller. That would solve most of our problems with soft goods placement.
  14. I picked up the same stuff last weekend. Just a shiny polyester. I'm gonna see how it turns out.
  15. Pouches do look a tad large but it may help to stuff them with something that looks a little more natural so they don't look like perfect boxes. Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
  16. In the film the tank was attached with a strap so that it could be easily removed. Most of us rivet the tank to the back armor permanently but it is not a requirement. As long as it looks correct with one rivet on the top and bottom of the tank, you can do it any way that works for you
  17. How rectangular they are depends very much on what is stuffing them. The film scout above with the very rectangular pouches just seems to have a lot of stuffing stretching it out. I don't think the pouches are square. They definitely seem taller than they are wider, but it's not that much.
  18. Welcome! Since you are in Southern California, I invite you to join the local Scout Advance Recon Team, "Scout Team Six". We can help you with local resources. Look us up on Facebook and send a request to join!
  19. I do it like in the film. Those guys knew what they were doing! Zipties "T-strap" between the bell and the shoulder bridge and then a very thin elastic strap inside the bell to hold it to my arm.
  20. Here's another https://www.facebook.com/groups/1742353536003671/ But like Stefan said, we are trying to build the community here on the boards as well!
  21. You are good to go with those. I don't really see anything holding them up from Lancer either.
  22. Nice and neat, Scout!
  23. Looks good for basic! For Lancer, your cummerbund should be up a little higher. You can see a gap between it and the armor straps in the side shots. It would help if your pouches had longer attachment tabs to affix them to the bund. Maybe an inch or two. I would loosen the codpiece strap a bit so it doesn't bunch up between your legs. Looks good!
  24. This. There's not really a need for fans with those giant ear holes and the channel in the back of the helmet for air ventilation
  25. Left one looks way better to me. Nice and short and stops right at the belt. Just like in the movie. Good job!
