  1. They get a bad rep and deservedly so, but I think KS makes a good trooping bucket. It's proportions are closer to the screen used one, it's light ABS and it's not expensive. It does need a bit to make it look accurate, but it is a good start and better, IMHO, than the SC or MLC.
  2. I think Spike's helmet will fit glasses. I have known some troopers to get prescription goggles to fit under helmets. Which is even more money $1200-$1500 is a good ballpark, depending on how much you do yourself. The most money is to be saved making your own soft goods and boots.
  3. Check out the trade forum. We have quite a few soft goods makers that advertise in there. I know they are fairly easy to make but most people I know (including myself) had one commissioned. Get in touch with Spike. He's also in Australia and probably has good leads on folks there that make them
  4. Yes 1.5 is fine. We have changed it to that. Or 35mm for folks overseas
  5. Right. They used the same type of grenade against the tank on Jedha.
  6. Maybe its meant to be kept inside the TD. Or what we call the TD. Obviously they aren't TDs if they aren't being used as such Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
  7. And please, give the helmet comparison thread a look: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=10737
  8. There is a difference between all the helmets and the more you work with them the more you see the differences. To my eye, the KS helmet looks more accurate proportion-wise, even if it needs more work with the little bits to make it more screen accurate. The SC looks small and therefore looks better on folks with smaller builds.
  9. Flak vest should not be super tight, but not baggy either. It should fit just right....
  10. SC would be a better kit for you, and just about anyone unless they are well over 6 feet tall. KS has very....large proportions. But their lids are good and I prefer them to SC's. There should be plenty of room in there for a mic although I don't know about getting a speaker in their too. Most of us keep the speaker in a pouch
  11. Welcome to 501st Pathfinders! SC is a great kit. I have one myself!
  12. Seems to be the same grenade used over and over in the film. Doesn't seem particular to the Shoretrooper
  13. Looks really good man! I have nothing to add to what is posted above. Get that thing buttoned up and apply for Lancer!
  14. They're fine but the originals are a much better option and although we don't have a level 2 CRL set for the Shoretrooper at this time, it's very likely the Orca Bays will be the requirement for that (provided they are still readily available)
  15. I moved your post to the Soft Armor section. There are a lot of threads here that can help you. This one, for instance: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=16558
  16. Don't sew the side pockets shut! Once you have everything on you can't see them and that's where I keep my wallet and keys when I'm on a troop!
  17. Have a look at the gallery http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?app=gallery&album=137 We don't have many pics of the front of the boots because there aren't many good ones to choose from. Remember when a shoe is shown off for sale or display, it is typically displayed from the side, not the front. And for Lancer apps we aren't that strict about the front boot cuts. Don't overthink it.
  18. Don't overthink it bud, it looks beautiful. When we evaluate for Lancer we don't measure the cuts hahaha. We just look to see they are there
  19. Dont know of a cheap HIPS helmet. Your best bet is probably to buy a KS ABS kit. those are under $200. Either that or keep your eye on the trade forum and see if someone is selling one
  20. Hey Andy! Judging by your avatar I assume you are building a Shoretrooper. There is currently no Level 2 for the Shore, that will happen sometime in the next year as we compile more and more information about it. At the Pathfinders Detachment, we traditionally only have 2 levels. There just hasn't been the need for a Level 3 at this time.
  21. Actually everyone does EXCEPT SC. The problem is that SC is the easiest armor to get so most people have it. But as Peter said, you can just fill in the gap to give the appearance of a one piece and that is fine for Lancer
