1. I use something similar and I concur, it is very easy to work with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2. Here’s the DLT-19X image from the CRL. You can see the wire faintly in the same position indicated in the photo provided by your GML of the Standard DLT-19. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3. You’re not going crazy or blind. There’s no wiring on the T-tracks for the DLT-19X in Battlefront. Keep in mind that there’s a lot of in game variations like that because the game designers were selective about what to use and how to design things for visual purposes. That little detail would never be seen in game action so it was omitted. The standard DLT-19 carried by Storm Troopers and Sandies do have the wiring around the ends of the T-Tracks, and this was done by the prop department to keep them secure to the gun. So it’s only natural that one would assume they’d be on the 19X too. While there’s no specific mention of wiring on the T-Tracks in the CRL, you have to keep in mind that the CRL includes the images too. In looking at the CRL image, the wiring is definitely present on the 19X. At least it’s an easy-peasy fix. Thanks for noting it because the wiring wasn’t even on my radar for my own build. 4. The rework you did is excellent. They look waaay better.
5. Justin, if you're just looking for a great display piece that is available as a free 3D print, check out TK14082's version on Thingiverse. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4003566 He has a great build thread over at FISD too and has received many accolades for the accuracy of his print which he has meticulously measured real SMG parts. There is a link on his Thingiverse page to his conversion kit which allow you to mod the SMG into an E11. I have all of his files, but have not yet printed it myself, but from what I have seen of at FISD, it is impressive and top notch!
6. Hey Simon, Welcome to the Pathfinders. Excited to have you aboard. I have a RS kit but made all of the soft parts by hand, which wasn't terribly complicated and that's coming from a guy that never used a sewing machine prior to this build. There a ton of great tutorials and WIPs on the forum that can help you construct your own soft parts. Even if you buy them from a vendor you'll most likely have to do some minor tailoring to get them to fit you the way you'd like, especially if your goal is to shoot for Level 2 certification (i.e, Lancer). You can reach out to RS via email to see if they'd send you the armor unfinished. I think there have a few rare instances where they have done that, but it's rare and would definitely only be by request. CfO is another UK based armor maker and their armor is excellent too. https://www.facebook.com/castfromoriginal/ Chef's Creations offers armor and softgoods and is located in the UK. All of his products are made to order and tailored to your measurements for a more custom fit. https://www.chefscreations.co.uk/portfolio-item/biker-scout/ For a complete comparison of Armor available see this thread here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/17774-the-ultimate-armor-comparison-thread/ I'm sure others will chime in, but feel free to follow up with any questions.
7. Just in case you’re resizing because you plan to upload photos using the forum’s photo storage, you’ll run out of space quickly. The forum has a very limited storage allotment for photos to keep costs down. Reducing the image size also makes it hard for the armorers to see details when they enlarge the photos. Consider using an image hosting service like Imgur or if using your phone, consider the Tapatalk app. Super easy and free. Now that that is out of the way, I’m looking forward to seeing your WIP. Be sure to ask any and all questions. Not only are there loads of Scouts here eager to help you succeed, but the armorers here are the best. They really know the Scout inside and out and will be an invaluable resource to you.
8. I always really liked Chef’s flak vest design. Great choice! Looking forward to seeing ya in your armor all suited up! It’s coming together brother!
9. That new bucket looks sweet Cheese! Well done!!! Weathering looks real good too.
10. I admire your tenacity Manoah. That’s quite an undertaking, but I think you’ll be really pleased with the end results. They’re looking good!
11. Looks good! I think you should be fine for submission. If your GML has a discriminating eye for detail he may note the mounting of the sight. It looks like you have it mounted to the barrel, which seems to be the most secure way for you to mount it given the piece has a relatively small surface area in which to mount it to the main body. You don’t want it getting knocked off during a troop. Here’s where it should be mounted on the main body using my current DLT19X build for reference. Again, I would submit it as is. I think you should be fine. But if your GML notes anything about the sight, you’ll know what he means and how to address it. Great job on this build! Well done! And good luck with your submission!
12. Hey Sean! Great work so far. It looks like you might be using the forum to upload and store your images. The forum’s image storage is very very limited in order to keep costs manageable. Most people use the Tapatalk app or an image hosting service. Some even use Dropbox. My personal recommendation is the Tapatalk app. The free version will allow you to post full resolution photos which will help the armorers see the finer details of your build. There is a limit to the number of images you can post each month but it is a pretty generous allotment. If you find you’re hitting the limit each month the paid version is only a $1.00 per month and has unlimited uploads. Keep up the great work!
13. Congrats Guys! Well deserved!
14. I think I’ve seen him on FISD, but he’s on Etsy too. Haven’t really taken a close look at his work though. https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/755159316/high-end-rubberfoam-stormtrooper-e-11
15. This is awesome! Thank you for doing this. It will be invaluable to newbs and vets alike!
16. Hey Phil. I’m sorry to hear about the issue with your knee armor. Is there any chance you can make abs paste to fill the melted portion and crack? Perhaps for the crack you can glue a piece of abs scrap on the inside of the knee and then weather the crack on the outside so it looks like a scratch? Just some thoughts to try to save you the expense of new knees. My belt cracked between the boxes at a natural stress point after my second troop. I pulled too hard taking it off forgetting that I had it secured to my cod with hook and loop. The abs paste sealed the crack and thickened that area. It was an easy fix because it didn’t require any sanding or finishing afterwards. Your melted portion will likely need a little sanding to get the outside surface nice and smooth. Again just a thought if you haven’t ordered new knees yet.
17. The Velcro that you see on the front of the pouch tabs is most likely being used by the Scout to secure the bund to the chest armor so it doesn’t shift or slide down from under the chest armor while trooping. If you haven’t read it yet, Chopper has an excellent thread on tips and tricks to keep everything secure while trooping. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/18894-some-tips-for-keeping-your-scout-costume-together-while-trooping/
18. This is really coming together. Looking sharp!
19. Never a doubt in my mind Jeremy. You had a solid looking build and did a great job on everything! Congrats on a job well done and welcome to ranks of the Pathfinders. I hope you consider shooting for Lancer and submit an application for Level 2 Certification.
20. Manoah, I choked on my morning coffee when I read your post. That cracked me up. Thanks for starting my day off with a good laugh.
21. Nice job on the vest and patches. The butt flap definitely needs to be trimmed but wait as you said until you have everything together so that the armorers can advise you as to how much needs to be trimmed.
22. I always wondered why they didn’t use the comms in their high tech helmets to call it in, but then again where’s the drama in that [emoji1787].
23. Phil, it’s coming along so kudos on striving to get things set for submission. I’m pulling for you brother! I’m going to throw this out there for Chopper to weigh in so don’t do anything I’m suggesting until you get feedback from him on this. Looking over you bund. It looks like you have about 2-3” of bund that extends below the bottom of your pouches. I think if you drop your pouches down so that the bottom of the pouches align with the bottom of your bund, that will allow you to pull the bund up by at least 3” which in turn will raise the cod where you want it. It will also eliminate your belt from sitting on top of the bund and instead sit right under it which is ideal. It will also give you plenty of real estate up top to attach hook&loop to the top and back of the bund so that you can secure the bund to your flak vest as Chopper suggested. That will keep it from sliding down. This fix might not be needed for basic approval, so again, wait for Chopper or another armorer to weigh in on my suggestion as they’re the pros.
24. Jeremy your mods are spot on. Man that looks good! Excellent job! Very clean and sharp looking. Well done brother! Good luck with your submission. I’ll be looking forward to hearing the good news and your joining the ranks.
25. Looks good. Nice work in the scope. Check your sight though. It looks like it is mounted incorrectly, but maybe it just the angle of the photo. Of course this is in its upright position but shows where it’s mounted. It should be at rest on the DLT19X due to the scope. Also, make sure your barrel is rotated to the correct position. See red mark below. I see this part of the barrel all sorts of angles on DLTs
