1. Before you sew the Velcro closed. Pin it securely and do a test fit. You may find slipping it over your head to be more challenging that it seems. I cannot slip mine over my head lest I run the risk of tearing it. You might need to widen the vest so that it has some play which will make it easier to slide on and off. My recommendation would be to leave it unsewn, and just leave it Velcroed so you can slip it over your head. This way if there’s an issue you can just undo the Velcro any time as needed.
2. That’ll never fly Nathan [emoji6]. The jet pack was a power up that could be added to any trooper in BF1, and wasn’t specific to the Scout.
3. Go easy and slow removing that painter’s tape from your scope. It lifted some of the black paint as well as chipped the red when I removed mine. In hindsight, I should have scored it lightly with an exacto knife along the edge of the tape to prevent it from chipping the red when removed. The black was less of a concern b/c I just converted it into weathering.
4. The 1/2” strip runs around the entire toe from dog bone to dog bone on either side. Looking at the image above it runs from heel to heel.
5. Woo Hoo! They are a thing of beauty.
6. Welcome Hilary! Looking forward to seeing your progress. Be sure to hit your fellow scouts up with any questions you may have. Everyone here is eager to help you succeed.
7. If you don’t want to go the paint route or it gives you issues, you could try gray electrical lamp cord, 16/2 should do the trick. You’d just need to split the cord in half down the middle, which is easy to do, so that you can wrap it around the TD tube. You’d need to make sure that both wires are encased an a smooth casing. Sometimes one side is ribbed and the other is smooth. In which case you’d need double the length so that both sides of the TD could be finished with the smooth casing and look uniform.
8. Looking good brother!
9. If we lived a lot closer Nathan I’d let you do all of my sanding and I’d happily tackle all of your painting/weathering lol. For some reason your images are showing as broken links in TT. I’ll have to bounce over to the forum to see if the issue persists.
10. Gertjan Kool great research! I’m digging this proposal. As an aside, this is the only option I use for my heavy in BF2, and yes, I only use the ST for my Heavy. I’d love to see this added as an option to the BF2 ST Heavy. Good luck with the proposal!
11. Congrats on your approval Fred! Well done and welcome to the ranks!
12. That’s awesome! Way to represent! Have a blast and hope all goes well with your kit!
13. Looking good Brother. Make sure to use a fork or spoon handle, or something else narrow and pointy to push out your corners on the pouch flaps before you close the seams so that you have nice sharp corners and not rounded ones. It’s way easier to do before you seam it closed than after. Good luck!
14. [emoji1787] Enjoyed the Bob Ross spoof.
15. Nate, rest assured your mom and family will be in the thoughts and prayers of my family.
16. You're welcome Jenny. Glad it helps. Keep up the great work. Your build thread is already of tremendous help to other scouts as you well know!
17. Jenny, you did a phenomenal job on the boot cut outs. They look super clean. Well done!
18. What Bluetooth and wireless mic do you use? I’m in the market for a Bluetooth set up with my Ukswrath set up. I’d rather go with something that others say works well then roll the dice on Amazon with a random buy. Edit: Your image of the Bluetooth wireless set didn’t show in my TT app until after I posted. I’ll check it out. Are you pleased with the mic?
19. The thigh patches will vary slight due to variance in size and construction from one scout to another. Tandy Leather is a good place to pick up your pigskin. This will be more than enough to cover whatever the measurements may be. https://tandyleather.com/products/pigskin-suede-split-chrome-free?_pos=3&_sid=5bf822550&_ss=r
20. @Hask just out of curiosity, does anything need to be done to the snap left on the boot once that side strap is removed?
21. Dude this is phenomenal and will be a huge help to others down the line. Thanks for taking the time to do all this graphic work for the pattern. I wish it was around when I did mine last year. Well done brother!
22. It’s a little easier using the X-Acto chisel blades of the appropriate width to remove the cut out than it is using the standard X-Acto blade. After scoring the sides and top pencil lines to an appropriate depth, the blade can be used like a chisel to remove the cutout in one piece. Makes for a cleaner and smoother cut. I found the soles of the Kingshow boots to cut like butter with a good blade so be careful like Retrofire said.
23. Amazon has a decent selection and price. Just search for the size you want and you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. I grab my elastic from Amazon and have plenty left over for future projects or repairs.
24. Both of those will work. I used e6000 and it’s held up fine.
25. Jenny here’s a couple more images of the original boots for reference:
