  1. Cool, thanks. As long as having a visible seam won't DQ me for Lancer, then I'm all set.
  2. Hi everyone. I'm wondering if it's allowed to have a visible stitched hemline close to the edge of the biker scout flak vest sleeve? It looks like I have to take up my vest sleeves about an inch and a half and I can either hand sew it on the inside, or machine stitch it with a thread line near the edge of the sleeve. I checked and there's nothing specific in the CRL either way. Is going to be a dealbreaker Lancer status? For reference, here's my vest with the sleeves adjusted: Here's the sleeve length BEFORE adjustments, from my build thread: Thanks!
  3. I've tried soaking my end caps in boiling water as well as a hair dryer and I'm not getting a whole lot of movement. Did you use a heat gun?
  4. That looks really good. Awesome work.
  5. Is there any new information we can glean from Gino's scout that would help lock down what sort of material was used for the bund and cod? Based on the example at SWC, is taffeta the material that was used?
  6. Having watched the scene, my interpretation was that it was a Scout Trooper who picked up a Rebel blaster rifle in a pinch -- sorta like how Charlie Sheen has the AK47 at the end of Platoon. Sure, it might be canon, but it's definitely not standard issue.
  7. I need to do some re-gluing on my boots. I was curious, has anyone tried using HH66 vinyl cement to secure the vinyl parts? I'm wondering if the bond will work between vinyl and leather? It comes with a brush, which would avoid the clumpiness that seems to plague E6000 and Shoe Goo.
  8. That definitely looks a lot closer to the slight shininess that you see on screen. Canvas doesn't have the same effect. Nice work!
  9. Has anyone tried sewing velcro tabs onto the flak vest sleeves?
  10. I was actually wondering about the best methods to affix helmet liners, so you answered my question before I even asked! Thanks.
  11. Given that I'm not a member of the 501st yet, I'm not sure how much weight my opinion holds, but I like the idea of having an optional rifle as a part of the CRL and I'm definitely game for adding the DLT-19X and the DLT-20a. (Even if they aren't I'll probably still carry one anyhow ) I do think that, as BikerScout007 noted, it's a question of where we want to set the bar? I'm curious, how often do the other detachment CRLs add video game-only material? Is there any other insight as to how such additions have worked out in other instances, or when it's gone awry?
  12. I like the subtle effect you got by using newsprint. Are you going to clearcoat it once you're done?
  13. Hey there, I'm currently working on my scout in order to join the Old Line Garrison in MD. The more scouts the merrier!
  14. Those boots turned out really great! I hope one day I'll be able to make some of my own that look that good.
  15. Thanks. My SC kit is currently en-route, so I'll take a look once it arrives and decide whether to swap it out or not.
  16. Side question, but do a lot of people with SC armor end up getting a one-piece belt from elsewhere?
  17. Thanks Khazara, appreciate the info.
  18. Whoh, that's interesting. Totally different from how most TB soft goods are set up. Is there a change in the works for Lancer status rigs?
  19. Thank you! I'm going to save this post so I can come back to it later!
  20. Hey everyone, I know that folks get their cummerbund and flak vests from various sources. Has anyone else used Parrothead Cathy? She's recommended by SC, which is a great vote of confidence, but I was wondering what other folks experiences were with delivery times and final product. Thanks!
