  1. Well, it think it all boils down to how OCD you get about the details... I did end up sanding and repainting my armor to match my helmet. Did some weathering once the white paint was dry. I haven't put in my Lancer app yet (soon!), but it turned out pretty well I think. (I'm on the left)
  2. Hey there, I can't really see from your images, since they don't seem to be loading, but are you using two rivets? If so, that'll prevent you from going Lancer, should you choose to go that way. Also, are you using backing plates? I can show you what I did for my belt -- I used a single rivet with a piece of ABS behind it. The rivet is a single stress point, which I wanted to avoid, so I used a much longer section of webbing that I then velcroed inside the belt. This puts most of the weight bearing on the velcro section, but leaves the rivet intact for CRL purposes. Check the picture below. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
  3. Hey Mike! Consensus seems to be that the strap is 1/2". I believe the original used a single loop around the armor, but a lot of us just secure both ends with Velcro. Strider has some photos of how he rigged it up here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=17305&hl=&fromsearch=1
  4. The TD tube color should be grey. The best color match I've found is Testors Navy Aggressor Grey, but many folks just use grey primer. Length can vary significantly according to how wide your waist is, but generally the TD width should approximate what's in the image below.
  5. The soles look to be the wrong shade of tan. Even if you don't do the boot cuts required for Lancer, my impression is that there's not enough of a heel. If you look at the screen-used reference, the heel is more pronounced than the boot model you posted. These boots are pretty popular: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019CVC8TI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  6. The newer SC kits all seem to come with the cut out tank topper and the TD button in the outside position -- mine did as well. Blue72beetle, as for what I did for my SC build, I ended up using one of DVH's rubber tank toppers. You could also fill the hole on the SC one with apoxiesculpt and then paint it.
  7. Bikerscoutboots.com is run by a member of BSN. See this thread: http://forum.bikersc...om&fromsearch=1 You might also want to check out xChris909x's boots. Review here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=13640&st=0
  8. Yeah man, this sorta stuff has happened to the best of us. That's a tough warp to fix. Even if you can get it somewhat back into shape, the surface won't ever be perfectly smooth again. I agree with kosejonas in that you may need to just order another shoulder bell.
  9. Yeah, that'd work too. Def go with whatever you're most comfortable with.
  10. That may be a better solution, since if you trim too much off the bottom edge you risk stressing the center ridge and cracking it. I assume you're going to use a heat gun to bend the edges?
  11. Could you try some fine wire cutters to start to cut up the metal? That may let you bend it a bit for removal?
  12. You'd have to verify with your GML, but I'm not sure if you could get approved with two rivets on the front of the belt like that. Kosejonas has a point, it might be easier and less of a headache to get one of the newer, one-piece, SC belts. One additional tip -- when I attached the webbing on the back of hte belt, I put a bunch of velcro on the inside and then attached and riveted the webbing that way. It makes the belt a lot sturdier and avoids having the single rivet on the sides as the only load bearing part. I can take photos when I get home, if it helps. Good luck with your build!
  13. Is that a SC belt? One of the older ones that came in three pieces? You'll need to join the three sections together. I can't tell from the photo quality, but what are those two rivet-looking things on the front of the belt? Pandatrooper has some photos in his build thread that cover putting the belt together. Check it here: http://forum.bikersc...opic=9781&st=40 If you can, better photos would help us lot for additional comments.
  14. It was flexible enough that I could hold it to shape with my fingers while I hot glued it into place. Also, easily trimmed with lexan scissors.
  15. The Altmann helmets have a lens that's about that level of smokiness. You might want to shoot Spike a PM and see what he uses. Otherwise, yeah, I think you're right -- your best bet would be to use clear plastic and get it tinted.
  16. I own that exact shield. It's a darker grey -- about the same as sunglasses. Maybe that's darker than you're looking for though.
  17. Hey buddy, you definitely aren't alone on this one. There's some additional contact info in this thread if you want to give it a try: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18108&st=20 I hope you're able to get things resolved
  18. Oh, I was following that post over on the RPF. I was really interested in seeing more of that character in R:One, but it was not to be. I hope you'll take the time to cross post some of your progress over here as well!
  19. Are those boot marks purple? I wonder if it could be Sharpie bleed through?
  20. Based on one of the patterns you have in your first post, are you making your own balaclava? If so, cool!
  21. Here's my rig. Not much different from everyone else's, except my cod sits outside the vest. My kit does have about 100 lbs of velcro on it -- the armpit level stuff is for the bund and the piece on the front of the cod itself is to hold up the belt. None of it is visible when everything is worn together. Hope we've been helpful.
  22. Yeah, I have a velcro tab on the end of my elastic strap that attaches to a piece on the back of the vest.
  23. Here's some photos of the bar code over on starwarshelmets: http://www.starwarshelmets.com/star_wars_helmets_review_original_jedi_biker_scout_trooper_helmet.htm Looks like it does follow the contour. By the way, should you end up needed another barcode sticker, I think I have some lying around if it comes to that.
  24. I can post pictures when I get back to the house, but mine is set up slightly differently -- I have my velcro strips on the outside of the flak vest and my cod just sticks on the front. This also helps to mask any gap that pops up between your bund and belt when you're moving around.
