Challenge accepted! We should set up some sort of RS build support group.
-
Yikes! That's pretty pricey for a kit. Like the LW bucket, will this become the new "white whale" once it's gone?
-
Looks like a KS bucket. Burningheart -- good choice for your first piece of the build! I think you'll actually be happier having built your own helmet, since you can better control how everything fits together. One tip -- you may want to look at purchasing a replacement snout aerator part, since the one that comes with the KS is inaccurate. Good luck and make sure you update us on your progress!

Ultimate Scout Pistol Comparison Thread!
Chopper replied to Chopper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Weapons
Thanks everyone. Here are some points to keep in mind of the three blasters I posted, (Hyperfirm, DVH, Polymer Armory) -- Hyperfirm -- lightest, but inaccurate scope attachment and shape DVH -- magnets in the nose and handle help keep it secured in the holster, accurate shape, but slightly smaller than the Polymer Armory version, some bubbles in the rubber resin Polymer Armory -- Heaviest of all three, but still relatively lightweight, accurate shape and details, hard resin construction means you risk breaking the barrel or scope if dropped Of the three, I prefer the DVH, due to the accurate shape and magnetic attachments. The Polymer Armory hero version is AWESOME, but better used as a display piece. The Hyperfirm version is ok, but keep in mind the trade offs I mentioned. -
Ultimate Scout Pistol Comparison Thread!
Chopper replied to Chopper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Weapons
Happy to help, brother! -
Since we have an ultimate armor comparison thread and an ultimate helmet comparison thread, I thought it might be helpful to start putting together an ultimate scout blaster comparison thread as well. Hopefully this will serve as a helpful resource for new troopers looking to purchase a scout blaster! If anyone else has images of other makers scout pistols, or the original props, please post them and I can add them into the main post. The first three products I have to compare are the Hyperfirm, DVH, and Polymer Armory Hero pistols. The Hyperfirm and DVH pistols are made out of rubber, the Polymer Armory pistol is made from solid resin. My personal take: Hyperfirm -- lightest, but inaccurate scope attachment and shape DVH -- magnets in the nose and handle help keep it secured in the holster, accurate shape, but slightly smaller than the Polymer Armory version, some bubbles in the rubber resin (NOTE: DVH sold his molds to Blasterworks: https://blasterworks.net/) Polymer Armory -- Heaviest of all three, but still relatively lightweight, accurate shape and details, hard resin construction means you risk breaking the barrel or scope if dropped Of the three, I prefer the DVH, due to the accurate shape and magnetic attachments. The Polymer Armory hero version is AWESOME, but better used as a display piece. The Hyperfirm version is ok, but keep in mind the trade offs I mentioned. Left side view (Top to bottom: Hyperfirm, DVH, and Polymer Armory) Right side view (Top to bottom: Hyperfirm, DVH, and Polymer Armory) Top view (Left to right: Hyperfirm, DVH, and Polymer Armory) Note the scope bracket placement on the Hyperfirm, when compared to the DVH and the Polymer Armory. If you're looking for accuracy, this is the biggest drawback of the Hyperfirm version. I feel your pain buddy. Given that we're in the same garrison, let me know if you need any other help with the build. -

My transaction with kriptontop went a-ok. Everything was sized correctly and fit perfectly. Just make sure you select fedex shipping and it shouldn't take too long to get to you. -
I can't comment on your Lancer-related questions, but if you end up looking for a replacement tank topper, Darth Voorhees makes an awesome rubber one, which means the little vertical fins don't break off.

The SC helmet would likely be too small. Go with the Altmann. Spike is incredibly helpful -- you should send him a PM if you have questions.
-
Wait, how did you get an eFx scout helmet? I have an Altmann helmet. Fantastic build, appearance, and quality. Well worth the appprox. 3 month wait...but if you have the eFx helmet...you definitely know about waiting.

Scout Trooper 'Rank Indicator Stripes'
Chopper replied to Imperial Speedster's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the Scouts have their ranks mapped out in the same way that folks have defined the imperial officer ranks. Even going off of this wookiepedia article, which is likely no longer canon, the Scouts listed as Sgt vs Cpl both have 6 and 4 rank bars interchangeably. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tempest_Force I picked the trooper with 4 bars who gets beat up by Wicket and Leia. He's referred to as "Sir" in the film, but according to the article he's only a Cpl. Best bet is to pick a trooper you like and use that number of rank bars. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Oberk -
Awesome. I'll get crackin'. Thanks for the feedback, guys.
-
Thank you. As a target for my adjustments, do the markings in green look about correct?
-
Hey everyone, so back when I starred my build I picked up a modded flight suit from Chris909. Aside from adding a lot of velcro, I didn't even think about it otherwise. Now that I'm pathfinder approved and looking at submitting for Lancer, I starting thinking that my riding patches, especially the rear riding patch, look too big. Do I need to do some trimming there? Here's my submission photos. I haven't touched anything yet, but I wanted to make sure that I actually needed to adjust them (and that this wasn't just me OCD'ing) before breaking out the seam ripper. Thanks.

Chrisx909x is a BSN member. He also makes boots. There's also KriptonTop on Etsy. Top quality goods, but just make sure you get it shipped FedEx as opposed to Bolivian Post. -
Max's Sci-fi Creation Shop Soft Parts
Chopper replied to GoofySGB's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
It unfortunately seems like Max's has been having a lot of issues lately. A number of us have had similar experiences. I ended up getting my soft goods from a different vendor in the end. "I have to chime in and say that I had similar issues with Max's Sci Fi as well. While they did come in a timely manner, my soft goods were all massively larger than what I indicated on the sizing chart. I'm not sure if they got mixed up with another order or what, but I still haven't received the replacement items yet. Eventually I just went with another vendor for soft goods and need to get a refund from Max's." http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18108 -
Hm, that's interesting. I had recently ordered two items separately from him -- one from etsy, one from ebay. The ebay item came via fedex and didn't take long at all. The etsy item was sent EMS and took forever (though it did arrive). The vest, cod, and bund I got from him were top notch and fit perfectly.

Hiya, welcome to BSN. I think the key phrase to focus on in the CRL is "lightly weathered". https://databank.501...B_Scout_trooper There's some good examples here: http://forum.bikersc...l=&fromsearch=1 and an example of weathering technique, here:
